Ms. Koko Taylor- Queen of the Blues! The Earthshaker! The Agitator! A True Force of Nature!! Saw and met Koko backstage in Gainesville Fla late 80's. What a humble, gracious, and lovely woman she was. And with all due respect to The Wolf, nobody belted Wang Dang Doodle like Koko.
Thank you for posting this jewel of an album. Koko T. lives! I was fortunate enough to have witnessed her picking up the mike and sing her heart out in front of totally amazed bystanders right on Newberry St near Maxwell Street in Chicago. No strings attached or obligation to pay to hear and appreciate... Raw, real and memorable.
Man, you were truly blessed to see her in person like this. I would (metaphorically speaking) kill to her in person. Jesus , Joel what a gift! Damn dude. I an so jealous and happy for you.
I met her once in Vancouver, BC. The apartment building I lived in had a little grocery store called "Portland Al's" that also sold Blues records and tapes. So one day I walk in and there's Koko Taylor and "Pops" Taylor sitting there talking to Portland Al. They were really nice and cool. Koko would let loose with this raspy deep chuckle after everything she said, Pops just kinda sat there going "Yes yes" laughing and nodding. When they left Pops got up and kissed me on the lips! Surprised the hell out of me- I'm not gay but I wasn't offended- I didn't think Pops was gay, I figured maybe it was some kind of cultural thing?
You're doing a great job Henk! Koko was a great blues singer and saw her a.o. in Chicago (1972) AND in the Casimir Hall/ Amstelveen 1973 (present here). Those were the days!!!😉

Meravigliosa Artista, semplicemente stupenda. Grazie Henk per la pubblicazione di questo bellissimo album. Saluti da Nettuno - ROMA (Italia). Good Life Good Music.
I was fortunate to have seen the " Queen " of the "Blue,s" in 2007 the year before KoKo left Us , now She is singing that sweet stuff up in Heaven ! R.I.P. KoKo ! A must listen for inspiration !
The album (LP, vinyl) recorded in 1973 had only 9 tracks. This 15-track CD version was released in 1989 in France. _(O disco (LP, vinil) gravado em 1973 tinha apenas 9 faixas. Essa versão em mídia CD, com 15 faixas, foi lançada em 1989 na França.)_
I wanna command that kinda rasp which slides elegantly to sweetness, never rising to the sound of better-than-thou conclusions, but still carrying along the rest of us thru the moments we all havta wait thru ea + every Long Day or Night
