2024 is the year when the 40SQN Search&Rescue will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Prior to the 40SQN, there was the heliflight which had been carrying out rescues since 1961.
The Squadron then flew the Sikorsky S58, Aérospatiale Alouette III, the Westland Sea King MK48 and the NH90 NFH. The Alouette was used for maritime operations.
