I respect Kolari more as a company for allowing you to discuss the flaws and the solutions for their CPL filters. I hope Kolari grows as a company

Yeah, they’re super receptive to feedback and are already working on a V2 of that filter. They produce some really high quality stuff overall. Check out their website! Pretty unique product offerings.

Very cool product, and excellent review! The magnetic sunshade is precisely what I asked Freewell to do for their K2 system that I use.

I really appreciate you taking the time to watch! And yep, I tried to make the Freewell system work for me, but just couldn’t fully commit.

@@hopkinsfilms I'm able to insert the top shade of a cheap plastic mattebox into the top ''island'' clippy thing in a very secure way.. and then I can rotate the whole system to position the shade. It works, but a magnetic one like that would be much better :P

I ended up snagging this system based on your recommendation here and on Facebook. I film all of my weddings solo and threading on and off ND filters all day long is such a drag. Although expensive this seems to be the most efficient way to swap filters all day long...i'll pay a bit more if it saves me some time on a wedding!
@hopkinsfilms
@hopkinsfilms 2 месяца назад
Awesome! I’ve been loving it for my last two weddings so far. Which filters / flags did you grab?
@apcreativemedia
@apcreativemedia 2 месяца назад
@@hopkinsfilms i got two baseplates, two 2-5 VND's and a 6-9. I film 80% of the day on a pair of GH6s so being able to swap filters efficiently between the two is crucial. hopefully this makes that easier!

@@apcreativemedia Great choices. Shameless little plug here, but if you do decide to purchase any more filters from Kolari in the future, using my affiliate link would be much appreciated! Helps cover the many unpaid hours of work that went into to this review. One thing I would recommend is a top flag (or two). They saved my butt filming in the rain the last two weekends.

DUDE!!! hahaha where you like, " God I hope this doesn't break" at 01:30? That confidence is insane
@hopkinsfilms
@hopkinsfilms 3 месяца назад
Hahaha, that specific UV filter was loaned to me from Kolari to TRY and break. That’s how confident they are in the strength of it. I also drove over it with my car.

Hey Dan, good to see you reviewed the mattebox. In your video it cleared the 18mm with the vnd attached. How is it if you add 1-2 more filters? When will it vignette?
@hopkinsfilms
@hopkinsfilms 2 месяца назад
Hey, thanks for watching! The most I tested was two VNDs stacked on the 18mm and it still had no vignetting. Pretty impressive.
@Bright_Lantern
@Bright_Lantern 2 месяца назад
@@hopkinsfilms I use the Tilta Mirage and it vignettes as soon as you add another filter to the VND once you go below 28mm. Even though the glass Filters are 95mm as well. Best, Tobi
@hopkinsfilms
@hopkinsfilms 2 месяца назад
@@Bright_Lantern I have heard that about the Tilta. This system does not do that. I'm happy to run a test for you and post the video.

@@Bright_Lantern Hey, so I didn't want to do a whole video on this, so this is just a private link. You can see a tiny, tiny vignette, but keep in mind...This is two VNDs stacked, which means there are polarizers criss crossing x2 (since they're stacked). The fact that there is so little vignetting at 18mm f/1.8 is pretty crazy. If you used just one VND + mist or solid ND, you'd have no issue. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Btx_hOpLR18.html

Have you had a chance to compare this to Polar Pro's Helix line? I currently have the Helix line but this system intrigues me. Especially since you can add a matte box.
@hopkinsfilms
@hopkinsfilms 3 месяца назад
Hey! I haven't compared them. I was definitely eying the Helix line before going this route. Those filters looked good, but very pricey for what they are. They were lacking some features that I wanted that the Atlas system had, mainly a modular matte box / top flag option.

I didn't understand if increasing rings are needed for 52" lenses, can it change size like k and f in their time?
@hopkinsfilms
@hopkinsfilms Месяц назад
The smallest step-up adapter they make is 62mm. You can email them and ask if it's possible for them to make a 52mm one.
