Typical ignorance of a Cat / proud union type of "operator". Complain, complain complain. If it had Cat stickers it would be the best dozer ever built.
Also, you are running it in automatic shift mode. That locks the torque converter automatically and is giving you the "half power" feeling you are getting. Put it in neutral and push the #2 grey button by the hvac controls. It has a picture of a blade pushing dirt and blade pushing rocks. That will put it into manual shift mode and stop locking the converter.
some people have their minds made up on whether they hate or love a machine before they ever sit down in the operators seat.. I've been guilty of that myself
We all have different opinions and they are all valid. I respect your opinion, you clearly have lots of seat time in equipment and the skill to show for it. I put about 500hrs on a D65px last summer and I was hesitant to like it at first. I wanted to criticize all of the differences that Komatsu has compared to Deere and Caterpillar but once I was able to let go of those things I started to really like the machine. I found that the motor and pumps started to wake up bit more at about 100 hours and at that point I was sold. It proved to be a very productive machine and all though it doesn't have many of the bells and whistles of the Deere/Cat products, it is far less expensive, appealing to the buyer that doesn't require those extras. I have some videos of myself operating this machine on my channel if you or anyone is interested in checking them out. Love your videos man, cheers!
Personally think this guy was against this machine before it even showed up on the job site. Never gave it a chance and it's hard to take someone's advice that doesnt know the first thing about how to run a dozer.
Was never a fan of Komatsu dozers, I definitely agree with the lag in power as others mentioned after having always been in CAT and Deere machines this is one dozer that just didn't make the cut in my books. I'm surprised you guys don't have a Liebherr PR 776... thats one machine I'm really interested in seeing I'm action.
DIGGINDEEP it’s weird that so many cat guys say that. I’m not a fanboy of either brand but yet I’ve never ran a cat Dozer that was even comparable to a Komatsu pushing. Cat has nicer control but gives up a ton of power.
I personally have never run a komatsu dozer but I've heard a couple people say they didn't like them.. But a relative of mine owns a construction company and they only buy komatsu equipment and he loves them.. so I guess it must just be what your personal preference is.
I ran a 65ex with a bull blade. I also noticed the power wasn't instant. it felt like it would bogg down or lag before it got into the power. not a fan of it either
Hmm! thanks for your comparison ! I guess youre a CAT Guy ?. I thought the 65PX was waay in-front of CAT D6T as the Komatsu seems very quick, light on its feet and extremely responsive, but maybe CAT is still the Kiddy ?????? or are you a Deere Guy. Just in the process of buying Dozer !, Whats the OPERATIONAL differenec between D6T and D6K ??, i think the K looks like shit !!
Really use to love Komatsu but they are so far behind in cab technology and operator comfort. I've run just about every type of equipment that's out there, and a Komatsu is the only one I truly despise having to sit in all day. Bad seats, bad visibility, bad mirror placement, cheap squeeky and rattling plastic interiors that become brittle from the sun and heat and crack everywhere, poor labeling of switches and layout of critical machine fuctions, poor displays for machine status or broken gauges. Its like the entire machine is incredibly high quality until they got to the cab, and that must have been where they ran out of money. Ill keep my D6
have you ran any of the newer tier 4 D6N's with the push button FNR transmissions.? Absolute garbage. They push but turn like ass and are so unbalanced for grading. we have one with a narrow high blade and skinny tracks, its great for hawging but i just think they ruined the 6N
I agree totally with your review. The cab has a nice layout and is comfortable. The one I ran for 4 months was completely under powered. Maybe that's there way to get the transmission to hold up. That auto shift feature is completely useless and it automatically defaults to that each time you start up👎
you can change it to Fahrenheit on the -8 machines. not sure about the older ones as i havent dealt with many of them just gotta know how to get into the service menu
