Thanks for watching. It was a lot of fun to produce an actual travel video again after such a long time. So I hope you enjoy it. Also check out FilmConvert to color grade your videos the same way and get 10% discount: geni.us/ksHeP If you want to visit Komodo Island, check out wanuaadventure.com, the tour was actually a lot of fun.
Just stunning! Don’t know where to start - shot selection, SFX, color grading, drone shots.. awesome 👍🏻 And I didn’t miss the Avata - I prefer classic drone shots :) but that’s just personal taste 😊
I agree with you. He really has it dialed in. I own a travel agency and I'm trying to become a really good cinematographer. Theres only a hand full of people on RU-vid that can shoot a video this good. Keep up the great work. I'm watching you and learning as much as I can.
Loved this video Pascal! So much nostalgia remembering when I first went to Komodo a few years back. I came back to my travels so I'm going to check out Film Convert as I intend to do more travel videos on my channel. It would help with my colour grading. Thanks again!
Thank you for this video! I’ve been following you since you had less than 10,000 subs and I’m happy you have grown. Watching your videos has helped me go from buying a camera knowing nothing to posting my own videos. Thank you and I hope you keep growing.
Hey Pascal! Such a great Video! I really enjoyed watching, everything is so beautifully edited...sfx, music, shots and composition, mixture of drone and camera shots..awsome! I am still at the beginning with my filming. I like your content and you helped me and are still helping a lot with your tips and your editings! One question...do you also consider editing a video about your holiday back in Germany and Europe? It would also be very interesting because I perhaps would recognize more places there, but that's just personal interest ;-) Please keep on creating your good stuff in your videos! Viele Grüße Stefanie 😊
Another excellent video Pascal! It‘s incredible to see, how you get better and better with every new upload! As a Fuji-Shooter myself, I enjoy your content even more, because like that, I can see, how far I could come with my gear. One question: Do you think that there was footage, you would not have been able to take with the Fuji X-T4? Greetings from Switzerland
Great video Pascal and awesome edit !.. I have a questions... Is the 1-5 stop variable ND enough in bright sunlight for the XH2-s and F-log2 ? ..thanks in advance !
I go to Bali and Flores in 2 weeks, also with the xh2s, very inspiring video. Do you notice some IR pollution with your Nisi filter ? Wanted to buy a kit but i watch a video which noticed this problem….thks
Awesome video. New sub from Blitar, East Java. I have watched some of your great videos, especially your tutorial on how to shoot traveling by ourselves. Thank you very much. Warm greeting 🥰🥰🥰
Even though the content of this video is reminiscent of a vlog, it was beautiful to watch, akin to watching a short movie with good narration. I loved the frames and color grading. Good luck!
Very nice work and thank you for your pro tips! I really appreciate your channel - it helped me a lot getting ideias, techniques and learning DaVinci Resolve! Keep doing these valuable contents. Tks
Thank you for sharing this incredible travel video. Your videos and tutorials offer a lot of inspiration and new techniques for newbies like me ;) Btw. Calling me by Ooyy seems like the Layla of cinematic travel videos in 2022 :D
I used a7Siii and a7iv and the X-H2S is like both of these cameras in one body. Great for photo/timelapses & video + even more features such as ProRes, open gate and it does everything great. There are no real compromises in the Fuji (at least for the way I shoot). In the Sony cameras you had to choose between 4K120 and good rolling shutter but only 12MP or 30MP without 4K120 and worse rolling shutter... the X-H2S does it all + it practically has a tiny bit more dynamic range. Shadows have more detail. Fuji colors are nice for photos especially. The autofocus of the Fuji wants you to tell it more what it should do, while the Sony guesses better but it's reliable enough to use it with confidence.
Beautiful film. Did you shoot them all handheld? May be you used a gimbal. I was told the IBIS on XH2S wasn't great. What type of color grade was it ? Looked really pleasing. DJI avata was usable again?
All handheld, yes. People seem to only review ibis for vlogging instead of actually shooting videos. And for vlogging it's also okay as it mustn't be perfectly smooth... However, I had add post stabilization to a few shots of course. But that was also the case on Sony and even Panasonic. Might be a few shots more on the Fuji but not significantly. For the color grade, watch until he end ;-) Avata "works" but I also get a lot of tumble and another crash because of that. Just ordered stronger motors for this drone. That will hopefully make it better.
And here again extremely great video! Especially BGM and SFX are on point. The beginning with the bike on the beach is so damn cinematic and have already catched me till the end! Very well done ❤
Pascal, great video. One technical question: the drone shots I guess were filmed at 30 fps (or 29.97). Other shots with H2S are taken at 24 fps and some possibly at 60 (or 59.94 fps) for slowmo in post (I see these are the settings you use the most in your video on H2S video settings). What do you use for the overall timeline in fpcx in case of hybrid shots including drone shots? I found that slowing down drone shots to 24 remove fluidity and up-scaling the timeline to thedrone fps leads to better results. In that case, however, also dslr shots could be taken at 30 fps (29.97), the difference w.r.t. 24 fps isn't detectable on computer screens.
I shot everything at 23.97fps (including all Mavic 3 shots) and 59.94, except for the one Avata shot. That was at 50fps but changed the speed and added optical flow + motion blur to make it smooth. Timeline is 23.97.
Komodo by Pascal -> Stunning piece of storytelling, editing, colour grading. Truly engaging content. I like to watch your videos as they are inspiring and helpful. I was so happy to hear same songs I’ve used in the past - need to admit - some great choices here 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for sharing and producing great videos! See you in the next one 🤓 PS. The Avata bug happened to you too
I travelled in that area and you really captured amazing scenes. Color grading is just perfect! Your drone footage is great. I feel sorry for your Avata, hopefully it will recover :) I am new in the filming thing. I have a small mavic mini, a phone and a gimbal and I appreciate your tutorials. I am a music composer but when it comes to video I am starting from scratch. We all have to start somewhere. Eventually I hope I'll be able to make videos like yours. Keep up the good job!
Dude, amazing video. Cinematography, grading and editing all so tight. Could you do a video or tell me how you export your videos for RU-vid? The footage looks so crisp and sharp, I notice other people's XH2s videos often look much softer on RU-vid. Thanks!!
Thanks, I either upload in ProRes 422 or just the H264 export in DaVinci Resolve, depending on the video length. I also shoot and edit in DCI 4K, a bit more resolution.
