Hi Bob, I really love your videos, always excellent and informative. Traditionally NI interfaces were aimed at the DJ world which uses largely RCA connectors. Nice to see they have made twins for supporting both DJ and the music world which largely uses 1/4.

Are the macro-knobs on the unit mappable to other software/hardware next to NI or are they NI exclusive? Wouldn't be much of a deal breaker, but it would only enhance the workflow for me :)

Hi Bo, is there any way to remap the 8 encoders on this Keyboard to what you want much like you can on Akai MPD226 Drum pad? I’ve got the CRAZY idea to use THOSE encoders to Control Volca’s as they a lot beefier and easier to access than those on a Volca. I’d be using a USB MIDI Host box to do this. I’ve remapped my Launch Control XL to do this and it works GREAT but having a decent mini Keyboard with Encoder would be BETTER. Thanks man

How does M32's keybed feel comparing to Arturia Keystep? They are pretty different in terms of functionality but look very much similar to me from the size factor and hence the question.

Maybe it's just me? But.... I Would of loved to see the lighted key's on this Portable Keyboard Controller. I would of threw an xtra $20.00 at it, just to have them light up an continue the legacy of it's big brothers....

Thanks for the review. Komplete Audio 1 is with RCAs to easily connect to a home sound system. It's a benefit for those of us who are just starting. And... Don't connect it to your monitors. Why?! It's unbalanced!

Hello! Thousands of youtubers make videos about NK - M32... but none of them says an important thing, does this controller need a power supply when it is connected to the iPad? Or does it power on iPad, like Korg Taktile? Thank you!

I just want a 49 key midi controller that isn't too horribly expensive and has bigger and better keys than the novation mini I have now. I can't make a decision. Having a few knobs to tweak soft synths on the fly would be cool as well. I like some of these keyboards but some of them seem so geared towards one companies plug ins that it makes me wonder if they are worth it. I don't currently have any Komplete stuff for example. Too many choices! Suggestions welcome!

Could you please make a more in depth video of the Kontrol 32?

i like the quality of NI equipment, but this and the A series keyboards have no midi ports, require a midi host via USB. that means no controlling external hardware without a pc or Kenton usb host to midi adapter $160. Also DAW integration of the keys other than the piano keys themselves is limited, requiring updates to your daw and in one case windows 10 not my win 7 install. NOTE: the first series of S keyboards mk1 HAVE midi at least, still face other issues if trying use outside NI ecosystem.

If I do not have a computer, may I use an Apple IPad instead?

They "copied" the keys from Arturia Keystep or have the same manufacturer. Although I think Kontrol's keys are not as good as in Keystep and they also have recess under them to collect dust. What annoys me in Kontrol is that they for some reason made it unable to read the button texts when they are not lit which is surely a weird design. Kontrol does have a large software bundle, but I'm hesitating to sign in the NI/Komplete ecosystem. They sometimes come with bloatware that sits in memory and can take cpu power for no good reason. One of those is Arturia software center, it was chewing 2% cpu power all the time so it had to go. As a plain keyboard Kontrol is not bad, but Keystep is better unless you need more knobs.

Missing MIDI jacks or even breakout jack, too bad they're not standalone MIDI over USB but need a host! Cos then it would be a quite stylish competitor to KeyStep 32. It looks very good. But it's the same fail as new synth manufacturers expecting buyers to only have 1 thing connected to their computer... so only good for their own software. I hoped it wasn't so, but it seems clear from your video. Thanks!

Bought the M32 and the supplied software took about 2 hrs to upload, then it froze up my Mac, All the software came up as CORRUPT! Not impressed!

First 4 min of a 10 min video devoted to pitching us sounds on a unrelated product that you can’t even identify. Maybe you should have saved that part for the end of the video. It’s irritating when you click a video and then the subject matter isn’t even discussed for a length of time. Just saying ...great channel none the less.

KOMPLETE KONTROL software is absolute garbage ! I am stuck for about a week not able to use the software at all (as I have endless problems either with plugins or content libraries). Every time I open Native Access it goes out of the screen. Many interfaces opened in Kontakt on my 4K screen are completely unreadable (to small to blurry). Support ticket wizard is the worst thing I have seen in my entire life. No way to track tickets directly through the site. Now way to register/unregister single products from KOMPLETE and Native Access interface (which BTW endlessly keeps asking for an update). Major features which users ask for years are not added. Upgrade policy sucks - meaning - if you purchased a single product from NI and not it is part of the KOMPLETE suite they want you to pay for it twice and you end up with 2 licenses and SN). You will not get a refund or discount. NI support replies about every 3rd day so after a week they asked few dozens of questions and no help, no resolution, no nothing. I paid in last 5 years $5k+ for their hardware and software and it was the worst musical decision of my life. While the 3rd party libraries and sounds are mostly OK or even excellent, everything else about this company simply sucks. I would never buy any NI products again nor recommend it to a friend. I really wish that one day Kontakt is replaced with some "real software" by some other competitive company. Perhaps the reason that this company is so bad is that they have grown so big and they believe there is no competition for NKS and alike. The bottom line is: when it works it is OK (jut ok but not god) but when even small problems arise you are on your own and you waste tons of time and energy. Not worth the price.
