"I don't need 16 pads, I need 88 keys" - amen to that. There is never enough pads, and trying to play them is impresise and unsatisfying compared to keys. And I'm no great player, in fact I'm still just learning. I wish though NI would offer Maschine software as a paid upgrade for Komplete Kontrol owners.
it would be nice if they included a basic lite version of maschine then offer a deal so you could upgrade to the full software. it seems stupid ni give the same komplete 11 select bundle with both the keyboard and pad controller when really they should just give keyboard buyers k11 select .
Thank you for this video! I just got my MK2 Kontrol S49 and couldn't figure out why the Maschine sounds didn't map to keys. My midi setting wasn't on for port 1/port 2. I really appreciate this.
Glad to find your video. No bullshit, no futile-mambo-jambo, just solid and useful information how to begin with KKmk2 and Maschine-software, served with a pleasant narration. Respects!
many thanks john for this vid.ive been using maschine for many years and ive been using the maschine mk1 hardware and mk mikro hardware i was going too buy the mk3 but after seeing your vid its clear too me i dont need maschine mk3 hardware because the kontrol mk2 has all the same features except for the audio interface and pads.
Hey bro, this video is perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. My experience is pre-software sequencing and I was having a heck of a time grabbing the concept of how to sequence with Komplete Kontrol, which I just bought. Your video is right on the mark.
Like someone already mentioned below, this video is still saving lives in 2022, haha! Glad to come across this video John. I happen to have an M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61, but I've been getting more into the Komplete instruments lately (I may upgrade to Ultimate during the current Summer Sale), Since I already have keys, I was wondering if I could get and integrate a Maschine, since it has the same interface for making adjustments for NKS Instruments, but alas, it doesn't seem to integrate directly with Komplete Kontrol software - at least not in a way that I could adjust instruments that I add through my DAW workflow. I guess I may have to consider going to a Komplete Kontrol keyboard instead - at least I know that if I want to dabble with the Maschine software (there's a hidden link on their site that lets you buy the software only), I can always use the Kontrol keyboard. Thanks for this excellent as always content! I could've sworn I was already subscribed, but now I am for sure. 🙂
Fantastic demo! Thinking of switching to a Komplete Kontrol/Maschine combination myself (currently I'm using Live) and the integration seems to be really intuitive. Thank you!
Thank you for this! I wonder if you can help me solve an issue. I have Maschine Studio (not proficient yet), and just bought a NI Komplete Kontrol A61 to accompany it. Plugged it up, buttons all work fine, but I can’t get the keys to play. I know it’s got to be a simple setting within Maschine/software. I’ve tried everything I can think of within midi settings etc and cannot get keys to play for any of the A-H banks. The A61 and Maschine boxes are checked in the preferences. I think it’s a midi setting in each channel I’ve somehow gotten wrong. Any suggestions?
Hey John Mike, having finally gotten my KK S88 Mk2 and having the Maschine Mk3 (4 years late, it appears😊), it is amazing to me the lack of documentation on how to integrate these two hardware instrument with Komplete 13, Maschine, Kontakt, etc. I mean, there are a lot of drum kits in Komplete that I haven't figured out how to use natively in the Mk3. I am trying to get a workflow where I can do the 16 pads for finger drumming, while keeping the workflow, as you have here by adding a KK piano instrument in the track. Thanks for the headstart. I'll use this and experiment with it.
Thank you for this video man. Answered a lot of questions for me. I️ was caught between maschine and this. Knowing that this has the exact same functionality as the maschine is helpful. I’ll get Way more use out of keys than pads and I️ own a mikro MK2 anyway. So if I really need pads I’ll use that.
Hey John Mike, I cant seem to get the keys on my keyboard to play like you do when you key mode on. It still only plays through one key. Do you HAVE to map the keys or should it just play off the bat like that? I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong man. I’ve upgraded everything, and selected everything in preferences as I should....
Hey, NI Family. I have a question and any help will be appreciated. I am trying to add my Komplete Control to be played in my NI DAW along with my Maschine MK2. My drums will be on track 1 via my Maschine but, I can't get my keyboard to show up to add any Komplete Keyboard sounds to the drums. What can I do to get them but to be recorded into my NI DAW?
Hopefully you're still answering questions on this. From your other vids, I assume you're more VSTs, less sampling like myself. How is Maschine regarding CPU efficiency, especially compare to Logic and other DAWs? I currently use Logic & a KK MK2, starting with a template of 35 or so tracks loaded with Kontakt/Komplete instruments that I purge samples from to save RAM. My understanding is Maschine doesn't have the purge feature. Not being a true DAW, I'm that much more concerned with CPU/RAM efficiency. I'm only on a 2016/17 MBP, 2.8GHz, 16GB RAM.
It’s pretty good from what I’ve done with it...but I’ve never really pushed it that hard...I’ve really only used it more so for just drum tracks and not so much as a daw
Hey John I turning lyricists to producer. Memphis TN reppin all day. Question, I like your tutorials for the Native Instrument I pretty got it. I'm still stuck on MK3 on figure out to put my vocals on track
Great Video....and you are the only one that did a video of this subject !!! But where are the note edit mode and the step mode? (note select, move in pitch ,stretch lenght duration ,change velocity...and all that things, i think they are missing. Or not???
Just to msake sure: you can do all that with Komplete Kontrol MK2 Keyboard and the Maschine software ONLY when you also have a Maschine Controller. Even if you dont use the Maschine controller, you will still need it as otherwise you cant use the Maschine software ?
What cord did you use to connect as a input from komplete kontrol to the Maschine?... I have Maschine 3... and I plan to get the komplete kontrol to pair with it.
Hi John Mike, I just purchased both Maschine MK3 and Komplete Kontrol MK2 and all is good except the volume level on the keys is extremely low. So much so I really have to slam down the keys to get it to a reasonable level. Does yours have this problem?
after your still able to double/duplicate patterns on the kontrol mk2? I haven't found the option, but on the Maschine you would just hold down pattern to find it.
Hi, is there a way you make your keyboard turn to Notes (or keys, or whatever the proper term is) of one sound without maschine? For instance, if I open up Komplete Kontrol in Logic using a S49 mk2 (without maschine), is there a way I could load a battery kit, and then hit the first piano key (lets say its a kick drum), and THEN SELECT ANOTHER BUTTON OR OPTION, which then turns the whole keybed into that note, which I can then play in different keys. Similar to how the keyboard works in Maschine? Hope this makes sense. Thank you.
i'm wondering why when i'm not at key mode all the keyboards just don't work, they don't give out sounds, but that one note works if on key mode, do you know how to fix that?
hi, is there a way to move the playhead back and forth on the Komplete Kontrol mk2 like you would on a Maschine wheel knob? this could be very powerful for editing notes without looking to the computer. thanks for the video :)
Hey I brought a maschine mk 2 off the streets with no software 2 questions can I use Komplete start to show up in the two displays and can I use Komplete start as my main daw to substitute for not having the machine software like can I record into it? Thank you.
CAN I HAVE QUESTION? How does look sample slicing with maschine 2 and kontrol keyboards? Its possible to control start point and endpoint with knobs? please quick answer :)
If I buy the Kontrol unit, do I need my Maschine Unit? The Maschine softeware is being driven by the Kontrol unit. That makes the Maschine unit expendable. Right?
Hi John is the maschine software you are using what you had when you bought your maschine?...I want s61 MK2 and dont particularly want MK3 but thought i had to buy it to get the software is that not the case?
@@petebee2541 The Maschine software comes with the MK2 at this point. I had my s49 for over a month now. Was about to get the s88 but decided to save money. Now I want Rfx Nexus and I will be ready for war.
depends on what package you buy...it comes with Komplete Select...it would probaly take a few hours to get everything downloaded and setup at most...probably less than that...I have komplete ultimate...I just downloaded it all over a few days when I had free time to mess with it all
@@Johnmike I hooked up my komplete kontrol audio 6, set up how it advises... ny maschine mk3 is working with it properly... I'm having an issue with my traktor pioneer ddj-t1 controller... i get sound but i can't cue up in my headphones
Better workflow if you are a keyboard player:..before if I was producing something in maschine I would have to play the beat out on the pads...then hook the keyboard up to play synth sounds...so with this board I don’t even need the maschine controller...I can perform all of maschine functions all from the keyboard
+gamera 3d yup...it’s just like having the maschine controller...everything that you could do with the two windows on maschine you can do with the two windows on this
Native Instruments is the worst VST company on the planet. No support, Komplete Kontrol full of bugs and obsolete piece of absolute garbage. I regret wasting few thousands of dollars on NI. The worst software mistake I have ever made :-(
