Let's look at the games that Konami did for the Sega Genesis. I even throw in a Sega CD classic for good measure.

Episode Notes:
1. All games captured via the Mega SG.
2. If Sega of America had any sense at all, they would have licensed Konami's Batman Returns engine from the SNES game and done one for the Mega Drive. Can you imagine how a Sega CD version would have been with those driving sections and a beat'em up of that quality?
3. Many of these games had SNES variants that were often very different games. Only a hand full of these titles were direct ports.
4. Konami had a Genesis version of Biker Mice From Mars in development at some point but cancelled it before release.
5. Konami's custom sound driver drove many of these games. Stuff like Sunset Riders, TMNT, and Rocket Night Adventures, all used the same tools.
6. Konami has a few trademarks when it came to Genesis development. They loved using huge multi jointed sprites, and many of their games features some form of reflection special effect.
7. The TMNT Tournament Fighters that appeared on the SNES is often considered a great game compared to the Genesis effort. Honestly, while I do feel its a better game, it's still a second rate fighter.
8. Frogger was on the Genesis, which Konami held the license to, but had nothing to do with the development of that particular game. Junction was on the Genesis as well, another Konami owned license, but it was done by Micronet.

No Mini console shall be perfect, it's the rule of nature. I wanted to tear my heart out that Sega didn't replace what little chaff was in the mix with bigger titles like RKA and Ristar. Man, those games would have been great to have; true classics. Instead we get garbage like Virtua Fighter 2, ugh! (And Ristar is their own IP! WTH! RAGE MODE)

+Travis Rodesiler To be fair, we did get "Contra: Hard Corps" and "Castlevania: Bloodlines." Still, it definitely would've been nice. When I was a kid, I had "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time" on the SNES (I sold it about three years ago, in box,with the instruction manual -- as near to mint condition as you can get -- because I was hard up for money). To be honest, I've never played "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist." It does look like a quality TMNT game, though.

I remember renting Rocket Knight back on the day. Nobody knew about it. Nobody played it. It was dusting on the shelve of the store when I gave it a try, based on the great cover, Konami's logo and advice from the owner that, despite not being as popular as other famous games, it was a really good one. I was absolutely shocked with it's quality when I first played it. Graphics, gameplay, music, everything was so well made that you quickly were dragged into the game and invested in that heroic possum mission. Sprayed the word among my friends, they just mocked me (yeah, a possum, right) and went to rent some sports game that was played thousand times before. It didn't bother me, tho, cause is a good feeling knowing that you are right and everybody else around isn't.

From my pov, the gameplay in RKA offers you more variety and the game mechanics are, overall, very unique, like pinballing your way up the walls with the rocket and stuff like that. GH, in my opinion, is not far away from shooters like Contra, and it's mechanics seems way more basic, run, shoot, blow everything on the way. Great games presented well. Sunset Riders I'm fortunate enough to have as the 4 player proper cabinet (though I need to re-cap my monitor), so I stick to that. That game is always a hit at parties, and my oldest son and I play through it together regularly. Double Dribble might feel off, but it's still way more fun to play. I have the arcade original Double Dribble, and you have to push a button for every single dribble... what a pain to play. It's exhausting to try and play a full-length game!

Contra Hard Corps is definitely one of my top 10 games on Genesis hands down, that soundtrack rivals the Streets of Rage games IMO (same w/TMNT Hyperstone Heist). TMNT Tournament Fighters has a special place in my heart, it was the only version I could play since I didn't have a SNES. Love the soundtrack to it too! Played the hell outta April O'Neil.

It should be noted that even though Hyperstone Heist used recycled assets, it did have one new asset - the version exclusive boss Tatsu, who was Shredder's right hand man in the first 2 TMNT live action movies of the early 90's.

I had the Lethal Enforcers cowboy sequel with the Justifier. My memories of that game are of extreme frustration and horrible graphics, but it was somehow addicting. I remember playing it a lot when I caught pneumonia and so I had the worst fever dreams over trying to beat it, failing, and trying again with its vomit inducing graphics. The console was too far away to turn off, so it just sat on an opening screen loop for hours until I'd pick it up play it again, and the music haunted my dreams. Eventually I got lucky and beat it as I was feeling better.
@ricky-sanchez
@ricky-sanchez 4 года назад
I hated that game. The graphic were terrible and the music sucked. And it was really hard. When I got to the part where you had to gun down like five people in a row, that's when the game was over. I only beat that part once. And died on the next level.☹️

Here's a cool idea that you might want to try to implement in these styles of video. You should maybe try having a visual timeline showing the box art for each game along a straight line representing the month and year that each one came out, and just go down the line as you review them. That way the viewers get a visual representation of when these games actually came out and in relation to each other, and that way they can easily see the timeline of when each and every title from the developer came out. It would be a good way for ppl to be able to reminisce about the early 90's when these games came out. Might be a cool lil idea to implement in future video's.

I remember Lethal Enforcers. Had forgotten about it until this video :O used to play that game a lot. Never actually thought that game looked bad. But back then, i wouldn't have known much about graphics anyway. Sunset riders, Tiny Toon Adventures game, TMNT Hyperstone Heist were the games, me and my brother played almost everyday. Especially Sunset Riders and TMNT we beat who knows how many times. Was so sad when some kid stole our TMNT from cartridge case. One of my fondest memory i have of my childhood was reaching the final stage of Tiny Toon Adventures game and writing down the level code on piece of paper. I believe it was weekend and my dad was watching me play the game while mom cooked. I must have been 7,8 at the time. Was so proud to have reached the final stage but sadly lost that level code and never gotten around to beating the game.
