Here is my music transcription of the 'Konnakkol Duet' by Vidwan B R Somashekar Jois and Kumari V Shivapriya in mishra chaapu tala. The Mohara-Korvai is composed by Vidwan B C Manjunath. This video is for educational purposes only.
What syllables are the first fast ones? Really ta ka di na ta ka? Because it sounds different but I could be wrong, so I'd really love to know :D but thank you for the video!!
Do the syllables change when there's 4 beats to the bar? I've seen something similar but the notes I'm seeing here don't match the syllables I know of.
Thanks. The notation displayed was from Logic Pro. The Konnokkol syllables were my best guess based upon Trichy Sankaran's highly recommended book, The Art of Konnokkol.
The second half is a 'rhythmic composition' by Vidwan Manjunath. The first half has both performers recite pre-conceived rhythmic phrases. This part is a bit less pre-conceived, but still not improvised in the usual sense.
