Ryūseigun is a koto piece that portrays an image of a Dragon Meteor Shower. The title replaces the [流] "ryuu" in [流星群] "meteor shower" with the Kanji [龍] for "dragon."
Dragons are mythological creatures believed to connect heaven and earth. Kotos are made to resemble dragons and are meant to connect the hearts of the players and the audience. Ryūseigun embodies this wish through the sound of a dragon meteor shower.
Ryūseigun is made up of three parts. It is played with a 17-string koto and five 13-string kotos. Each koto plays a different score
In the anime version, the actual rendered piece has been written by Migiwa Hashimoto 橋本みぎわ, the sister of the manga author, and played by her as the lead along with other professional koto players. The author's sister wrote half of the original koto pieces, including Tenkyu 天泣, whereas the other half was written by their mother.
