He is cherry picking and giving in to the idea that men shouldn’t fight for there rights because it might be unseemly as a man to whine, but what about those men who’ve gone through a divorce and lose custody of their children and desperately want to be good fathers and see their kids. Art used to recognize that suffering and chaos are part of human life and offered beauty as a remedy to find joy and meaning in life. Again with the observation, no modern city beats an Italian city to put it simply. There is a channel here on RU-vid called The Aesthetic City. Have a look at one of their videos called: This City Did the Impossible. I also recommend vividly for you to read this book: "Beauty" by Sir Roger Scruton, or watch the documentary with the same name. Beauty inspires. And an inspired person inspires other people, positively influences their social cycle and move the needle towards a better society.

It has been lost in the weeds that all of the traits framed as toxic can be fostered in a healthy way. There are desirable traits for both men and women. What is unfortunate for everyone, is that toxic feminity has been borne from a movement that should encourage confident, fair and compassionate women with emotional strength.

Men aren't referred to as non-birthing persons, but women are referred to as birthing persons and non-men all the time.

We should use the most inclusive of language and refer to people only by their reproductive function. Therefore people should only be referred to as inseminator or gestator. Totally inclusive and not dehumanizing at all. Stunning and brave.

The rabbit hole goes deep. I'm probably over a hundred hours into the Peterson-verse, and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. He has the discussions that I wanted to have at university, but couldn't because the academia had long ago turned their backs on the principles that underlay the debate. I'm grateful to JP for allowing me to explore the topics at the proper level of analysis, which otherwise would have been nearly impossible given the current state of education.

I absolutely agree that twitter isn't the best place for Peterson. He has a knack for condensing vast concepts and ideas but twitter is just too limiting.

What I don't understand is that this whole narrative given us by feminists about transgenderism and "toxic masculinity" is based solely on stereotypes and then fitting everyone into an array of set stereotypes, all the while trying to claim that they are breaking stereotypes. People are unique individuals with both positive and negative traits -- they are not cookie cutter stereotypes! They are trying to bring down all the traditional values of Western (dare I say Christian?) culture, for what reasons I can not fathom, and they are doing it by trying to shame people who believe in them and denigrate those values.

A very thoughtful and enjoyable comment to read. It is a shame that some have damaged the words 'feminist' or 'masculine'. I know some women who are the heart of what a feminist should be. Proud to be a woman and supportive of other women, especially on topics where women need the most support. There are some areas child bearing, the menopause, managing physical situations where you may not be as physically strong as the other people you are interacting with for example. Seeing women who can and will do that to focus the benefits they bring to their contemporaries just is great. What is sad is that so many believe that if they are to claim that title they MUST per force make it competitive, so for women to be treated better men must be treated worse. I think the only person I am in a race with is myself. No one else's happiness makes mine any lesser. No one else's success reduces my success. I hope that as a society those kinds of ideas can take hold I genuinely think it would be for the better if they did.

It all comes down to confidence and not putting up with bad behaviour. I’m old school I don’t like men being belittled by women or other men. I don’t know why things have gone this way over my lifetime. I think the ‘bully with the biggest mouth’ got the upper hand and nobody fought back, so it’s grown out of all proportion. I don’t know how long it will take to get back to full equality for all, whatever your sex or orientation. Maybe it pie in the sky and it will never happen. We have moved on but got sidetracked by this faux feminism, things are a lot better for everyone, but we still have a long way to go. We all have our ‘moments’ but if we work together we are very effective. Wanting to take HRT is farcical, notice they never wish to be pregnant and go through labour. Conversely I wouldn’t want to be a man any day, way or another. In my case I had a women boss who was not married or had a partner so saw me as a target. A male colleague said when I asked him why. He said, she is jealous as i had more than her. I had a long marriage, children and a settled home with lots of friends. If I had said that everyone would have viewed me differently. Hubby and I worked very hard for our marriage, children and home. I don’t like any hatred, misogyny or racism by any gender. I don’t have any answer to remove this problem from our culture and society any time soon.
