I had a party, wanted it to be the talk of the town, well it was. My stereo was connected to a amplifier, Kool n the Gang was blasting shaking the walls, whistles blowing and then a Poppin sound replaced Kool the Gang , the Amp speaker busted, and we continued to dance to music we could hardly hear. Nothing can replace the fun we had back in the day!!!!!
One of the best bands of all time! Their music is just as fabulous today as it was in the 70s. Love the horns and the coordinated suit colors!! Kool's Brother, Ronald Bell, is too good looking!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💜💙💚💛🧡❤
WHEW 😅 these brothers were the epitome of a band, that brother Robert Bell was so under the radar on tenor saxophone 🎷 but man that brother wrote outstanding horn arrangements,as well as taking some breath taking solo's,also DENNIS THOMAS, ROBERT " SPIKE" MICKENS, CLIFFORD SOLOMON on BONE,so much pure music 🎵 in the horn section, and Cannot forget to mention the rythum section, brother ROBERT "Kool" bell on bass,RICK west on keys that funky, ferocious horner D6,clavinet, CLADYES E.X.SMITH on guitar, and brother and that funky drummer brother GEORGE " funky" BROWN,the O.G.s ,KOOL& the GANG
The irony. Can't get enough funky stuff, all the while MAKING that funky stuff! Back when people used to actually play instruments to make music. This is the good stuff.
Robert Zeurunkl ,, thk you,, bk when we actually had REAL MUSICIANS, not this computer sampling crap that don’t even know what key they playing in,,,, but they r called a musician,, it’s hard to take, plus these ingnorant kids paying 100 plus dollars to hear their sorry azz ,, but life goes on,,,,
Kool & The Gangs funkiest jam of all time. this is one jam that could hang with the rest. when they crossed over with Celebration, I lost some interest and being a DJ, it fused with disco, but I was playing P FUNK and heavy RNB. So, I always went back to this one jam by them that would pack a dance floor along with Hollywood swinging.

I'm 60 favorite jam when I was in junior high. For the young people that has the fortune finding this video. The people aren't dancing. The are " THROWING "
This song is so ill and funky, the Soul Train dancers are moving as if they are being shock with electric, all over their bodies. Yes, their music in those days was funky, jazzy with accents on instrumentals, improvisation with the whole band being lead and resting on Kools pulsating bass line. Summer Madness and Open Sesame are classics to this day. I personally don't think they sold out as someone said in their comments earlier. The times changed, and the music changed. The clothes we wore in the 70's, were out of style in the 80's. And even though their music may have changed, one thing remain constant and consistent; Kools funky bass line kept us dancing throughout the 80's. People wanted to dance, so they made music we could dance to, while keeping it tight with a soulful lead singer and rhythms, melodies and ballads that's better than 99% of the crap that's playing on the radio today.
Well.....the music being heard today is a result of what is in demand / desired - it's a reflection of people's music tastes of today - just wanted to make a note of it
It was a big pleasure not only buying them 8tracks to listen to these great bands in your rides and then you get to watch them on tv around Saturday mid day or late night on midnight special , American bandstand , etc. These days ....what’s out there on tv ? Hate ppl & Hip hop ... that’s a joke!!! In 70s it wasn’t like that that unless you come across ignorant stupidity. I’ll take Ohio players , kool & gang, Earth Wind Fire , etc over any hip hop BS ... This music created peace & love & dancing with each other among whites & blacks , Latinos around USA 🇺🇸 where hip hop created hatred , racism and victims from ignorance of words in hip hop..
The reason the VAST majority of so-called "music" today is crap is because it doesn't take much creativity to have some computer lay down a generic track, whereas back in the day, musicians ACTUALLY HAD TO PRACTICE PLAYING INSTRUMENTS, and that time playing with other musicians produced some incredible creativity and timeless classics, such as "Jungle Boogie" among other classic songs. Nowadays, it's some shitty genre called MUMBLE rap or Justin Beiber. Ugghhhhh! I'll always keep an open mind to something that sounds good, but finding music that has depth and sounds good nowadays is like waiting for Haley's Comet to reappear.
Dude haircut was tight. I was born in 72' My mom told me when I was a baby, everytime Jungle Boogie came on, I would dance with my bottle and she and my older cousins would dance with me. They did it to get a laugh. She said, I loved that song.

Damn straight! I saw the "oldschool" Kool & the Gang at Disneyland during this period and they were MINDBLOWING. Incredible rhythm section and overall a very sophisticated fusion of funk, rock, and jazz. When they took a sharp left turn into commercialism with "Celebration" the 'hood party was over. But God bless 'em, they paid their dues and it was time to make some big green.
One of the great disappointments of my life was the turn towards commercialism of Kool & the Gang during the '8o's. I never forgave them or the Pointer Sisters.
Kool -- resplendent in his mint green suit -- wrote himself a fabulous bass line for "Jungle Boogie" ... outstanding. tight, well rehearsed (even of this show was sync'd) band ... you can play this album forever
I love 💕 early Kool & the Gang forever! We jammed to their early sounds in Philly. Those timeless early jams had substance then & are still the "jaun"!

Don't matter 70s or 80s Kool and the gang knew how to rip shit up! You can't f with JT Taylor s vocals. He put Kool and the Gang on another ride. But hey, it's all good! You got your 70s. I got my 80s
Once for me.. Cardiff in Wales.. they really got around.. so GLAD they didn't leave us out.. I've NEVER forgotten the thrill of the brass section synchronised moves while making incredible music..
I just adore this band. Lucky I saw them live about 10 years ago with a lot of the original members. Top notch jazz cats - funk is what they're known for - but the technical / musicality smarts is what they have so much of w/ probably the greatest, most positive vibe I've ever known in music. Put them on to feel good. K & the G forever!
