The handover marked the completion of the second successful mission by a ten-man team from the US Defence Department's POW/MIA Office (Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Office), who spent 20 days in North Korea searching known battle sites for the remains.

@Fei Long 黄飞龙 ...source that isn't CCP agit prop? 典型的中国谎言,胡说八道。 I believe South Korea asked for help when the ChiCom-supported north under Kim Il Sung invaded (25th of June, 1950)...but, hey, what's history compared to CCP propaganda. @ Sleepy Davis, my dad fought in Korea in the Corps, built schools and roads with the SEABEEs...said the Korean folks he met were the A#1 finest people. There was once a loyal soldier of the Philippines who died in Zomboanga City Siege by the Islamist in 2012 or 2013 (idk the exact year) but his last words are "I will not be cold if I die in the fighting, because they will blanket or cover me with a philippine flag or in Tágalog ( Hindi ako lalamigin kapag namatay ako sa gera kase kukumutan nila ako ng bandila ng Pilipinás.". Days Before dying from a rocket launcher from Moro National Liberation front. (Which is an Islamist separatist.) His last words really fascinated me. The idea of dying in a battle, but being blanketed with the national flag as an honor is really fascinating. He was willing to die. To protect and to preserve the country. Whilst the politicians only works to increase their wealth. This system really disgust me.

If a South Korean or American soldier accidentally trips on the block on the ground and falls into North Korea, do they get arrested and never heard from again? I also wonder what would happen if the North Korean soldiers just kept walking into South Korea with the caskets. @Archive41024 3 года назад
The person jumping the boarder would be sent back to avoid the repercussions. War and skirmish would ensue if one side would refuse to hand them back over, that's why NK soldiers come so close but don't defect. Of course there are other cases where the defection isn't obvious and the SK government can cover up and state that there was no soldier taken in (instead of saying that they died whereby they would need to provide evidence) Basically if NK saw them defect and it was obvious they would demand them back, highly unlikely south korean government would go into a war over 1 soldier as it's not worth it. It's almost taunting for these soldiers as they are so close yet so far away at the same time because even if they tried they would get sent back immediately

@@Archive41024 many nk soldiers have defected. Nk can demand all they want. They won't get them back. The big thing keeping the nk soldiers from defecting is the fate of any family they may have like brothers & sisters, mothers & fathers as well as wife & kids. They'll pay the price.

@austinperez9408
@austinperez9408 4 года назад
@@ianmcclellan7695 You realize the entire reason the UN has left people worse off or unprotected before is because the constituent nations choose not to do anything, usually at the pressure of either the East or West on the security council. If we had international law that had force, and superceeded things like Russia's veto where clear genocide is concerned, then we'd have a working UN. But at the end of the day, people will cry fear of globalists and effectively hamstring the UN, and then complain it doesn't work as intended.

A number of counties still provide staff to this UN operation. For example (Sweden and Switzerland) still act as a neutral party on the DMZ. They monitor how many troops on in the "neutral" area. To be stationed on the actual DMZ, it's an UN operation. So most of South Korea and United State forces are kept away. Don't know the exact distance off hand...but 1/2 of km??

@jacharvey8231
@jacharvey8231 4 года назад
It might be something to do with the Coffins being handed over at this location as the huts in the background are UN huts designed for the peace talks. It also might be because it was the largest UN operation ever which involved nearly every country in UN. Tbh I don’t know but I’m sure they had the American flag over them when they got home. I for one would want the Union Jack in their coffins if they were British.
