They didn’t just adopt them out separately. They place each twin in very different environments. One in a wealthy home. One in a poor home. They wanted to see how “the same person” would develop in each environment. It was FKD UP.

@@undyusami1525except this isn’t a case of followed through murder or rape. they were already struggling teens who didn’t have active role models, were misled, lied to, & manipulated by gina. even if gina objectively didn’t pose a physical threat to them in the car, you don’t know what they were thinking in the moment. they were in a new area with someone they didn’t know, probably didn’t have much or any money, & were just told that instead of just helping gina get stuff from her sister, she wanted them to kill her. they didn’t know if she had any other weapons in the car, or if she had anyone else she could call for back up. any 15 or 16 year old is going to be shocked, scared, & not know what to do in that situation. should they have been punished for the role they played, yes. i think the one kid’s sentence makes much more sense than 14 years tho. that’s nearly as much as gina got, who actually came up with the plan & orchestrated it, enlisted two KIDS to do her dirty work, & drove there. Isn't Sunny's 180 REALLY suspicious during the trial? She suddenly had her mother, bf, etc all turn against her after being victim to a crime and had the Korean community side with her sister. It may have been that many people from the community and the mother expected Sunny to forgive Gina. And possibly speak up for her so Gina doesn’t get a long sentence. When Sunny didn’t agree with them because not only did her sister try to kill her(!) but also she and her sister have been huge rivals pretty much since birth. I can imagine she had very, very little empathy for Gina (understandably). I don’t trust or put any faith in their mother’s judgement or actions as she is a deplorable human being. It’s possible the bf and Sunny’s relationship was never that solid really, and based on the community pressure he thought it best to stand against her and walk away. This is just my thoughts on it.

The Korean community are very religious. Almost all the Korean American families that I know go to church every Sunday. I think they wanted Sunny to forgive her sister. Her mom probably felt bad when Gina called her out on being bias, so she's trying to act like a good mom and support the other one since she's the one being convicted. All in all, I personally think they are all messed up. I only felt sorry for the boys if it's true that they were dragged into it.
@blehblehs
@blehblehs 3 месяца назад
not only is the Korean community religious, they have their age hierarchy, just like Stephanie said. Just from being born 5 minutes early, Sunny is the oldest. Although that earns her some respect, that also means she has to take care of, and put up with Gina’s behavior because “she’s younger and she doesn’t know better.” So they probably also expected Sunny to be lenient and forgiving for being the oldest

according to what we can gather of gina’s personality in this case, i think she would’ve emotionally manipulated her mother to take her side. Especially with her break up with her partner, the mum would’ve been able to relate to much of the things gina felt towards her twin- feeling left behind, betrayed ect. surging his, i believe gina would’ve been able to twist her mothers favour out of pity and relation. Again, as the other is also emotionally vulnerable and seems to have such a disconnect from her kids (demonstrated through her neglect) it would be easy for her to switch so quickly and be swayed so easily from favouring one of the twins to immediately switching to become so cold

Not baffling at all. Being Asian raised in a traditional Asian family, the child does not get to speak out against the family, even if there was CA or SA. They will blame the victim for bringing public attention to something they’d rather resolve privately. The letters sent in by other asian families blaming western media for sensationalizing the case says it all. Esp as a girl, you bow your head, take the abuse and stay quiet. Work hard and forget it ever happened. Bc that’s exactly how I grew up. And what happened when I spoke out. Public image is very important in traditional asian families.

I'm 20 minutes in and just wanted to give my take so far. As a twin who didn't know I had a twin until I was 13, it did nothing to prevent me from forming an inseparable bond with my sister. We grew up with very different lives - I was raised alone with my father in one country while she was with our mother in another country. We both grew into decent people separately and endured separate hardships but when we found out about each other we were immediately inseparable. The part where Steph talks about the separated twins feeling like they're missing something is accurate, but it's a very subtle feeling that I really struggled to understand until the feeling actually went away. I think the best way to describe it is disorienting, like the life you're living isn't right. But at that point when that's all you've ever felt it's hard to put your finger on it.

I was a Psychology student for 9 years, so I can attest that it doesn't work that way. In a nutshell, we're taught the history, theories & learn about traits of various mental illnesses. We learn about basic facial expressions that everyone recognises when someone is happy, sad, or angry etc. In Neuroscience (a huge branch of Psychology), we're taught the physiological aspects of the neural system. For example, how neurons communicate & release neurotransmitters. This in turn, contributes to behaviour, emotions &/or cognitive functions. My point is we look at Psychology mostly from a scientific point of view. It's shocking that 200 people liked your comment & agree, even though there's no evidence that we're taught to manipulate people. That's how misinformation spreads so easily, which leads to misconceptions. Manipulation simply comes down to personality traits, which can be used for good or evil. But it's mostly for bad reasons, so it's considered a bad or negative trait. Your environment & those around you, can teach or mould you into becoming manipulative too. In that case, I highly advise the person to leave that group before they become just like them. Nobody likes manipulative people, so they're often miserable people. IMO, I think it may stem from narcissism, believing you're above the law &/or you do it for fraudulent purposes. Some people are either born evil, or are nurtured into becoming evil due to their environment, their upbringing &/or the kind of people they're surrounded by. You are who you hang with, they say & it's often true. It has nothing to do with learning Psychology. The only job I can think of where you're trained to manipulate, is if you work for the likes of Intelligence, or even as a police undercover. Some cops use very dirty methods to catch suspects. I looked into a career in Intelligence & came across that information from people who claimed that Intelligence gets the best & turns them into liars & manipulators. This is why I no longer want to work for them. I don't want to become a dishonest person. But I also recall someone from Intelligence warning me to not believe someone who doesn't want you to work there, just because they're jealous or have an ulterior motive. Problem is, there's truth behind what those people said. As an undercover, you have to lie about who you are of course. I'm ok with that if it's required to arrest someone. But to be trained as a professional liar & manipulator full-time & befriend dangerous criminals, it goes against who I am. However, I also heard that Intelligence picks out people who are naturally manipulative & use them for appropriate assignments. They most likely get extra training on top of it. But man, I wouldn't exactly take it as a compliment if I was selected!😂 I hope people now understand that Psychology doesn't teach you to manipulate people. Even less so for Behavioural Health, which as the name suggests, focuses on mental health & how it affects your behaviour. It's disturbing to see how many people are under the same impression when it's completely untrue. I hope this comment will properly educate people about Psychology.
@cake6377
@cake6377 3 месяца назад
I think aitran is saying that the Psychology diploma itself doesn't teach you how to manipulate people. Rather it's the person aiming for the Psychology degree who wants to learn how to manipulate people using it for that purpose, and they are likely gonna do it with or without the degree anyways, unless they wanna change ofc. TL;DR: It's not the tool (Psychology degree) it's the user.

BPD comes from perception of trauma. Like me, normal life changes caused me to develope it. Yes, moving to another country can be very difficult at the age it happened to me. Still I had loving parents who cared for me and did their best to care for me. Nothing objectively traumatic ever happened but I reacted as if it did. So I developed BPD. I was diagnosed at 28 during a several week stay at a mental hospital. I was always a very sensitive child with problems, I was also diagnosed with ADHD at 40 which probably greatly contributed to everything that happened later.

I’m a twin and my whole life until age 50, I have shared EVERYTHING With my twin sister ( I’m a girl too ), both mentally supporting her and financially supporting her ( bought her a house,3 cars, designer clothes, took her on holidays Inc a round the world trip etc ). She was a nurse and I was a police officer but the moment she got pregnant, she gave up her career and went on government benefits. So I would pay for everything for her . I didn’t notice but friends of ours since we were 7 have now said that she always played the victim and I her rescuer and she has exploited this throughout her life. Anyway, 4 years ago she borrowed a 4 piece jewellery set ( necklace, earrings, ring and bracelet ) which was very sentimental to me. I asked for her to return it and she did but the bracelet was missing. I very calmly asked where the bracelet was and she denied ever having it ( I have since been given a picture taken two weeks prior to me asking for it back and In the photograph, she is wearing my bracelet ). She became very defensive straight away and I said that maybe she had lost it or dropped it on the way to my house and she started shouting and screaming and accusing me of calling her a thief ( I didn’t ), She then left my house with no shoes on such was her rush to leave and she left my neice and nephew behind and didn’t pick them up for two days even though they were only supposed to stay for a few hours. Since then, despite me reaching out to her, she hasn’t spoken a word to me. She got married and uninvited me and my two children who were to be bridesmaid and usher , yet my 3 brothers attended. It’s crushed me. Then just prior to last Christmas, I found out that I had mouth cancer and my brother asked if he could tell her. I agreed and her reply to my brother was that she must go to the dentist and get herself checked out . She has not once called me or messaged me about it or to ask me how I am. I’ve been through 4 years of hell as I’ve been so depressed and devastated by her. However, I now realise that when I look back, she only ever visited me when she wanted something whether it be financially or emotionally or support mentally. I have finally reached a point where I can now say without crying that I no longer have a twin sister. She has confided in a mutual friend that she has always felt like she was playing second fiddle to me our whole lives and because of her feeling this way, she never wants anything to do with me ever again. Incidentally, this all happened not long after she met her boyfriend now husband and it does make me wonder if she will come running back to me if they ever split up, which is a possibility because they don’t trust each other as I was fielding confidential phone calls from them both and neither of them know that the other has also confided in me. So it appears that it’s down to simple jealousy. There’s a professor who has studied twins and there are a high % of twins who reach middle age and the relationship totally breaks down, never to be rekindled again and it’s down to jealousy.

I have a twin brother.. and when we were teenagers, we stood up for and protected each other, however, we also fought occasionally and had bitter competitive rivalries that would sometimes escalate into physical violence. Then one day when we were in our mid 20s(we lived with each other for about 27 years), we just stopped arguing and fighting pretty much cold turkey. We sort of came to this mutual epiphany that this was really dumb. I can even still remember the last argument we ever had. It was followed by an apology to each other and a hug and that was pretty much it. We're both 50 now and have nothing but love and support for each other.

My mother often compared me to her saying things like “why can’t you just be like your sister!” She was always the perfect one and I was the black sheep. Now I’m clean, getting my life on track, starting a family and her life is falling apart. She’s been emotionally cheating on her husband, she’s been drinking more and more heavily, and they are now getting a divorce. Mom still wants to try and justify my sister’s actions sometimes but when I point out that she left her husband for the same type of actions, she has no choice but to try and hold her as accountable for her actions. The only thing that seemed to change was I took accountability and she lost it. It is strange how it seems like the roles in our family switched over the course of just a year

Me and my sister shared some glaring personality differences when we were young and now we are so alike yet so different. we have completely different fashion, different tones, different types, and some glaring religious differences. we’d fight some as teens but now are extremely close, and it’s eerie. we live across the country from one another. i found an obscure brand of Mexican candy that i liked, and for some reason i got obsessed with them and would eat it nonstop. one day while i was eating them i snapped a picture of the candy bag to my sister. she snapped me back and to me my surprise she was eating the same exact obscure brand of candy. she said she was obsessed with eating them for some reason. it was so creepy and we acknowledge how, despite living across the country, random parts of our life will overlap. we also say the same things at the same time without planning it; we hate when this happens but my friends and family think it’s so entertaining. being identical is definitely a unique experience. we were also exposed to “studies” as children.

The energy vampire thing at 37:00 is something I experienced in my past. I had a close but incredibly unhealthy relationship with a close relative. People who just met us for the first time often said “I thought you guys were sisters.” Maybe we were twins in a past life, who knows. Our relationship was full of resentment and bitterness on both sides, but we lived together and were basically joined at the hip. I was very much her caretaker, but I collapsed emotionally when we were apart. After my dad died, we were all the family the other had. And both of us could never be happy, or feel good, at the same time. It was like a seesaw. She’d be on top of the world, I’d be miserable. Or vice versa. It felt for all the world like there was only enough life energy for one of us, and we had to share. It was horrible. And not to get too deep into it, but she suddenly and unexpectedly had a heart attack and passed away about 2 years ago. And as much as I grieved and wanted to die too, as much as I would have given my life for hers, or would have stayed by her side until the end of time, it was only when she was gone that I began to really live again.

As a mother of twins this case breaks my heart. This is obviously a classic case of nurture over nature. Those evil parents ruined their poor children.

A pair of twins we knew were quite different from each other. One, the mother's fave and pride and joy, was slim, outgoing, gregarious and into sports. Made friends very easily. The slightly younger twin was the exact opposite, quiet and almost invisible. When we attended the wake of the older twin who had died of cancer at age 16, many felt sad for the younger and thought she would feel the loss alot. I had a feeling she would actually be happier coming out from her late twin's shadow. I was right. She totally changed, blossomed and 'became' her twin. She took to the 'spotlight' like she had practised it in her mind alll her life.

I have 23 yr old twin boys and I am so grateful that my boys never had any problems like this.. but they were always raised to be individuals and had their own personalities and I believe you are what you grow up in including the society where they were raised my boys don’t do drugs, not gangs nor have never been in jail one is a sheriff, and the other one is a chef we are very proud of all three of our children.. plus our daughter is in her last 2 years of college before she gets her Doctorate degree in criminal psychology Sheriff a chef and a doctor so I am very proud all three of my kids.. I don’t know What I would do with my kids came out with bad Intentions, maybe I have been with their father for 30 years and grew up in the same place their whole lives but I’m so grateful for my husband and kids ❤.. and I really hope that that family finds peace and love for each other..

As a faternal triplet...lemme just give you a long distance hug. Tons of familial abuse and trauma and - none of us get along. Don't feel bad. You're normal. I have a theory that that whole "built in friend" thing is more of a stigma put on by media than a reality.

True story…a friend had twin baby girls just 9 months ago. The babies have hated each other since birth! They will scream and cry if the other twin is brought near them. They calm instantly when you remove the other twin from their line of sight. Mom and Dad change them, feed them, play with them in separate spaces. It is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen and I’m very interested to see how this turns out.😳

I think the dynamic of the mom always having a favourite deffinately fueled the fire, along with the seperation of them as babies. Terrible parenting is what sparked this rivalary in my opinion. Side note: what kind of weird fucked up people just take one twin for themselves and abandon the other? Like they are their own person with their own interests and personality and you dont care to get to know one of your two children at all? Crazy.

I have a twin sister and she was my biggest enemy and bully since the day i was born. Or more like i was her enemy. I always loved her but she hated me with passion and wished me death. I don't know where it came from. It was just always like that. Our relationship became slowly better after our twentiees. She huged me for the first time when we were 23 or something. I was always jealous of other twins that had amazing conection because i was pushed away by my twin. It scared me for life. She was the cool girl, and i was the sister that everyone forgot about. I remember when we had birthday and we shared some candy with the clasmates, they wished her "happy birthday" and then the looked at me and said "oh...its your birthday too...". Yeah, so fun 😅

I'm a twin to a brother, Mom "which is a narcissist" favourites him over me, she spoiled him while kept neglecting me my whole life, we hate eachother af...he is my biggest bully. I have third degree burn on my left thigh close to my private parts and another second degree burn on my left hand because he someday was so angry that he threw a whole pot full of boiled water on me and Mom forgave him immediately while I COULDN'T SLEEP FROM THE F*CKING PAIN coz no one bought me pain killers. He also caused me several s*xual traumas and SAed me for a long time by different ways that I grew up having a problem with men and s*x overall. Till this day we are still living in the same house. I can't blame anyone in this case nor I see anyone truly evil more than their mom. Parents are fully responsible when twins hate each others like that.

Firstly, yes identical twins have the same DNA. But they have different finger prints. And they will also have different dental records. Secondly - The study you spoke about, they did an extensive documentary on it. Think it was on Netflix mainly focused on a set of triplets. These cases were absolutely heartbreaking. The people that started this study and took part in it were playing “god”. What they did was diabolical. They also ensured that the families that got those particular triplets had previously adopted a girl who would be 4yrs older than the triplets. The differences were that one family was extremely wealthy, one was middle class and the third family was working class. They were also strictly a Jewish adoption agency. And when the families found out they demanded answers for their children. Yet even when the triplets and other children (now adults) fought to get the records and results of the “study”. They only got reports that were so heavily redacted it gave them no answers whatsoever. The “powers that be” definitely were more heavily involved than they will ever admit. When it comes to the Han twins, the awful parenting plays a *huge huge* role! From them separating the girls at birth, to the father then abandoning them. To them moving and up hauling their lives twice. Then their mother abandoning them. I also imagine that they also began to resent each other because the one who was with the dad would think “why wasn’t I good enough for mum?” And the one with the mum would think “why wasn’t I good enough for the dad?” Then the mum actually preferring Sunny would be the ultimate nail in the coffin so to speak. Without a doubt I can confidently say (IMO), that this particular case was nurture… or the lack there of.

Yes. I don’t know if you agree with me but I have seen my (Asian) relatives try to sweep all siblings disputes under the rugs, even if they steal from or hurt each other. “Everything should be resolved behind closed doors, we do not want outsiders to get involved.” Since sunny testified against Gina, it could be theorized that sunny broke the family code.

Im a FRATERNAL twin but I did grow up in a study hard household and I can very much confirm that being separated would definitely affect the relationship. When being together in early youth, you naturally bond together due to basic circumstances. When stripped of that connection early on, it basically ensures that you see your "twin" as a copy of yourself, a better/worse version of yourself.

I'm a Faternal twin. There are days that we look Identical. When we were little - totally. As we get older - here and there. It depends on what we are wearing or if we gain or lose weight. I never got pregnant. But when my sister was pregnant... I would be craving Chinese food, call her up because we would be hanging out that day and because of sickness and pregnancy cravings I offered to bring her food... she wanted Chinese! So strange! It literally kept happening!!! The Twin vibe was VERY strong during her pregnancy. I would feel anxiety when she was anxious about her pregnancy for some reason. And the day of her birth (It was her first), that morning she almost died during child birth and I was driving to work and working that first few hours and I literally felt a pit in my heart like SOMETHING IS WRONG! But I knew she was supposed to deliver that day and that someone would call me and I would be at the hospital right after work. I didn't find out that she almost died till afterwards. I wanted to hurt her husband for NOT telling me sooner. There was also a case years ago in 2012 about a young woman killed (she had a twin) and the story is so heartbreaking. Her twin said in an interview that when you lose your twin it's like a cloth and it's being twisted and pulled in your heart. I just cry. Cause I can't imagine losing my twin. Lot's of coverage of that case: one source: www.investigationdiscovery.com/crimefeed/murder/who-killed-julia-niswender-michigan-student-found-dead-in-bathtub-at-her-off-campus-apartment Oh and a couple years ago, My twins husband and her were upset with my mom and me for a couple things, long story. But He banned my mom and me from seeing them. It lasted for about 3 months. He totally overreacted about the situation and his response was to ban us and her from seeing each other, and their kids!!! It was such a ridiculous situation and I had found out I suffer from PNES (Seizures induced by Stress) and I just kept having 1 seizure after another. And He said awful things to me. It literally felt like my soul was under attack during the whole thing. I couldn't see my twin and her babies. They are like my babies. Because of this Twin Vibe... I am so much closer to those babies than any others in the family. We are okay now, But I am on edge a lot thinking it could happen again. It's like this story about the Sunny almost taking her life, her soul was under attack. It's so hard to explain. Just imagine heartbreak in the sense of a cloth in your heart being twisted and then pulled and (to me) ... Daggers going into it. That's what it feels like. This is such a crazy case. So interesting too.

Thank god she got time served. Way too many cases have turned into murder/serial murder because mommy doesnt hold her kid accountable. Glad to see the court stepped in and did it themselves. I feel for all of them, too. The boys of course, but also the girls. It’s so heartbreaking to see people fail children time and time again.
