Thank you for the lessons from casting to finished rings. Beautifully done and beautiful pieces. Can you please tell us what the blue green liquid in the warm tank is. I assume some kind of cleaner for after quenching. Thanks again, I always enjoy your videos and artisanship!
@SilverMeister
@SilverMeister 3 года назад
What's in the warm tank is a dilute sulfuric acid solution. 90% water + 10% sulfuric acid undiluted solution It is clear at first, but turns into a turquoise color as you use it. When the color darkens, dilute it with a lot of water and throw it away, new use again.

What is the blue liquid you kept using after quenching?
@SilverMeister
@SilverMeister 5 месяцев назад
Nonferrous metals (gold, silver, copper, aluminum, etc.) are different from general ferrous metals, In each process, it must be pickled. When dealing with silver, mainly sulfuric acid is diluted in water and used. Mix about 10% sulfuric acid and 90% water. When mixing this, it is safe to add sulfuric acid to water. Always keep the diluted acid warm. 50 to 70 degrees Celsius is suitable. By pickling, By removing borax residues and various impurities generated during work It plays a role in ensuring that it is always clean.

Very good job!!! for what you are using camail oil??? what did oil doo??
@SilverMeister
@SilverMeister 3 года назад
Camellia oil is vegan oil. The reason for applying oil is to delay and protect the oxidation of the silver surface. A very thin oil film protects the surface. After applying the oil, clean it again to finish. The camellia oil that I use is safe to eat. It is a very good natural oil that is harmless to the human body even when the ring is worn on the hand.

Awesome video, I loved how the ring turned out! I have a question is this keum boo technique possible on applications where it involves fusing white gold and gold to make a two tone look like with this ring?
@SilverMeister
@SilverMeister 3 года назад
Kum-boo cannot be used on alloyed gold. Only,,,, You can attach gold parts on top of pure gold, Gold can only be placed on silver. Of course, it cannot be applied to copper alloys. The best way is to, Try it yourself. You know when you do it.

You have a very awesome RU-vid channel. I would like to apply the keum-boo technique to my artistry but since I'm just getting into it I would like to ask you for some pointers especially since you have great experience with what you do based on the content you upload and the products that you make. - Are there any books or other materials that I can purchase about learning the Keum-boo technique? - Which type of gold foil or gold leaf to purchase for use with .999 silver or .925 silver? If you can send a link to the one you use I would greatly appreciate it.
@SilverMeister
@SilverMeister Год назад
The thickness of the gold sheet,,, A postcard-sized gold sheet is about 3-4g. That's about the thickness. It is about the thickness of a regular paper. Heating these metals to a temperature between 260~370°C increases the movement of the atoms. When pressure is added, this causes an electron exchange at the surface between the two metals, creating a permanent diffusion bond. This diffusion bond occurs far below the soldering temperature for either metal (Dhein, 2004). Nothing is permanent in this world. It may wear out over time. Physical contact may cause it to peel off. It doesn't go away easily with the passage of time. Because silver and gold became one. This is different from normal plating.
@SilverMeister
@SilverMeister Год назад
I learned all the information about keumboo from Korean teachers and books in Korea. The gold paper used in keumboo technique is used by directly stretching pure gold thinly, and it is also purchased offline in Korea. Keumboo can be made of either pure silver or 925, but it only adheres well when it goes through a cleaning process (removing fire scale) by applying heat and repeating pickling. Check out my learning video about gold.

Silver and pewter are completely different things. They are different enough not to be confused, and the processing techniques are completely different. As pewter does not bend, it breaks and melts at a low melting temperature. is it silver? Are you a pewter? It would be rude to ask. But, I know that you are a compliment to me. Thank you.
