Some of my earliest Korean experiences were shaped by reading Mike's books and columns. That I now get to speak to him, ask him questions, and join the conversation about Korea's democratization and political developments is still all rather surreal.
Michael Breen, Founder and CEO, lived in Korea for more than 30 years, working first as a journalist for The Guardian, The Times and The Washington Times before becoming a public relations consultant in 1994 with the Seoul office of the Burson Marsteller PR agency. He founded Insight Communications in 2004. He is the author of two books on Korea, including “The Koreans,” which was selected as one of the best books on the country by the Financial Times and Korea JoongAng Daily. Mike graduated with a degree in English literature and linguistics from Edinburgh University. He is a past president of the Seoul Foreign Correspondents Club and an honorary citizen of Seoul.

I feel really happy for you getting to have this chat with someone who has had such an influence in your life Dave. What a role model to have! This will be my drive time entertainment this week. I’ve got the last 3 going at the same time. I feel I need a whole day to just get fully current with your podcasts! Thanks for always eroding my Sunday free time! 😜

Thank you - I have to pinch myself sometimes. I don't always get these conversations correct, I make mistakes with my questions and responses, and doing all the technical stuff by myself is super hard.....but I'm learning a lot and incredibly grateful.

You have no reason to feel bad. It is indeed unbelievable, but also shows how driven and committed you are Dave. I don't know anyone else doing 50 podcasts in 17 months! Mike Breen is really a top expert on modern Korea. His book The New Koreans opened my eyes to what huge changes the peninsula has gone through in recent history. A must-read for anyone planning to travel to or live in Korea!

Absolutely agree with this! Both of the books sit proudly on my shelf and my Korean Studies students are asked to read them as part of their syllabus. Only now have I suddenly had the realization that I should've taken them into the studio for Mike to sign. Doh!
