as a european i have to say i miss the time when there were still internet cafes here and i went there with friends to play cs 1.6. that's why i feel the statement of playing together so much
The internet boom really fucked internet cafes. Only Asian countries have them nwoadays.. I miss playing LAN games with my friends. Very different feeling vs today (which is a grind)
i lived in daegu for two years and ALL my money went to pc bangs back when i was younger. that was so long ago, i didnt imagine korea would still have them around. glad to see people are still enjoying them!
Being an American, I couldn't understand why internet cafe's have remained so popular in certain areas. Thank you for shedding light on the subject, in South Korea! With the friendly atmosphere, food, and great prices, I have to try this for myself!
Seulbi explained it well. Playing with friends side by side is way different than talking via headset. I remember setting up an alarm every weekend to meetup with friends and go to PC Cafes to play DOTA or Counter Strike.
Yep did the same when i was young. We played Half-Life and CS 1.5 and there was only like 15pcs so people waited hours for someone to go home so they can play :D I remember it was 1 dolar for an hour like 18years ago.
As an American, I wish that there were cafes like this where I live, seems like a super easy way to meet people with the same hobbies while getting a bite to eat!
@@newdiary6978 I wish that the USA would do something like this. The only kind of close thing was when I was in Las Vegas, one of the hotels had like a gaming arena for competitive gaming it was cool to experience. Gamers and nerds alike have a hard time making friends in public...
The only way this kind of thing would work is with super strict rules that everyone is willing to follow. Things like not making loud noises and bothering ppl around them. Keeping things clean before you leave. no smoking / drugs inside. etc
I remember in like middle to high-school, when me and my brother first discovered about gaming pc cafes, We used to save our lunch money from school, so that we could afford for a taxi-ride, play time and for food as well, we didn't have proper set-ups at the time, and internet-cafes weren't super popular as they are now, but it sure did create a lot of memories for us... Fun times
i am 1/2 korean in the US and always wanted to visit my familys home land, so far i havent been able to. Maybe one day! but this was an awesome look into another part of life in korea! Great Video Love It!
LOVED THIS VIDEO! not gonna lie, the music really set the happy emotions for me jimmy so good editing. did not realized i was smiling throughout the video until it ended hahah. i really liked how chill the video is and informative it was and also the two ladies were very nice and polite. really up the quality this time jimmy good job! can't wait for the next video!
In the Philippines, we also have Internet Cafes. A few years back, I still hangout with my friends in an internet cafe even though we had our own pc and own internet connection at home. Its always like this since I was in high school, then college and even when I had starting working already. It's always better to play in friends. Losing and winning together. It's just something many people do not understand. When COVID hit, I think most internet cafes closed. I can see some of them opening up again. I hope the next generation of gamers get to experience what we had experienced. This video bring back memories.
It hits different to play with friends at internet cafes, than playing at home while talking together at discord! But the most fun thing about our internet cafes in the Philippines is the noise that we make and the trashtalks 😂
Thanks for this video! It really brought back a lot of happy memories. And you really nailed it-- playing together with friends in a Café feels a lot better than playing alone at home.
Internet cafes in Korea are still alive and well, but as time goes on, their enthusiasm is waning little by little. The biggest reason is that as the average computer specification in Korea has increased, it is possible to enjoy games together while talking on the phone with friends through Discord at home with better computers than Internet cafe. In fact, if you want to play popular games like LoL, PUBG, or OW2 with your friends, you don't even need a high-end computer. (Like GTX 1060 3GB)
I remember going to internet cafés here in the Philippines when I was a kid, there is definitely no food at all but getting to see other gamers enjoy playing DOTA while I quietly play GTA V on the PC brings back so many memories. Might have to visit one of these PC Bangs when I get to visit Seoul! Glad to see you back uncle!! 🥺✨
@@jrdeasis2156 I got sick once and had to stay home so I couldn't play with my friends. That day a fight broke out and my friends recorded it, the one day I get sick and I miss out on watching a fight.
I’m seriously impressed with how professional it all is. How’s it all laid out; how you pay for the PC; how you order food; how the food is delivered and presented etc.
JIMMY 😭😭😭 I was shocked when I saw this video now has 1.2 MILLION VIEWS! I was here when you first started this second channel and began experimenting with content. I just came back here to say I am immensely proud of you! All your hardwork and creative content ideas are paying off!!! I am over the moon as one of your earlier followers ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations!
Really liking the IRL videos you've been pushing out and creating... Look like you've been doing this sort of content creation for years even though you've just started the channel recently, gladly expecting there is more to come...💯 Edit: Maybe visit and check out another PC Bang in Korea but at night, more of you just chilling, gaming, exploring and giving us a tour..? Out of the most recent videos you've put out this has to be my most favoured, something about the vibe you bring and the PC bangs atmosphere go hand in hand and is very pleasant..
This is the dream! Here in the Philippines we have something similar but not this much well-prepared and great food. We only have instant noodles and some canned drinks. I look forward to trying PC bangs when I travel to South Korea! 👏🏼
I worked at an internet cafe from 2002-2004. Best job ever. Counter-Strike 1.3 was our most popular game and we had 3 servers running it. Used to charge $2/hr. Miss that place everyday. Our cafe wasn't quiet by any means. We played music from our log-in computer (I played Trance and worked the graveyard shift to keep people playing longer). As far as food, we had snacks and a soda vending machine.
Kinda miss playing in an internet cafe together with my gang of friends. I used to do that a lot back in the day even though the facilities are nowhere as good as my house's or Korea's internet cafes, but it was amazing to just simply have fun and laugh together like that. Discord just can't really replicate that feeling.
Eyy you finally did the Internet cafe visit, we were just talking about it when you were in BK! The Internet Cafe there seems so much nicer than what we have here and oh boi the food looks delish after a gaming session!
Growing up in SEA, Internet Cafes after classes are A MUST experience for any kid here. The memories of your group of friends playing side by side, shouting callouts or bantering, it's some of the best. Yeah, it's literally just sitting in front of a monitor clicking a kb and mouse but goddamn those are very enjoyable and memorable hours of fun.
PC bangs are cool but can be off-putting for non-Korean speakers because there is often a total lack of language options on the PC's making it inaccessible to 98% of the world. The staff are generally cool and can help you but PC bangs in Vietnam, Thailand or even Japan are easier to use because they always have a clear language change option on the login screen. Would help a lot.
I am so glad theres so many SOMEWHERE in the world. Back when I lived in China I couldn’t find much. This is so affordable and cool, and I might check it out myself one day. Thanks for making this video!!!
There's an internet cafe culture here in Greece as well and even though many of the services are similar to Koreas, some are just mind-blowing. They make some (pizza, sandwiches etc.) food and beverages but this legit cooking you have in Korea is amazing, I wish to try it sometime. Great video btw 🙏🏼🙏🏼
What makes me sad is that PC Shops here in the Philippines are shutting down due to the on going Pandemic, I really love the culture of playing games with random people, it really helped me develop my communication skills and overcome my shy attitude. When I have time to go to Korea, I'll definitely go to PC Bangs to play for hours!
Uhm no the pandemic is not the main cause. It's just that most kids nowadays are already satisfied playing games on their mobile phones, and cellphones can do a lot now, so an internet cafe is not really an ideal business to hold on to. Plus some other reasons. Wifi vendo is more profitable.
jimmy i love these videos idk why but these make me feel so much better i hope people understand this is a way better way to make a videos then valorant on my opinion! keep it up !
I'm so glad I have found your channel, was always intrested in Korean culture and how society and stuff is different over there, you really have talent for these kind of things, will be watching a whole lot more of your channel :)
I love seeing this internet cafe content because I have good memories of internet cafes in my high school years. Since now I'm a full-time employee at IKEA, sometimes I give myself a chance to come back and play again in internet cafe when I'm off to work, but it feels so different and I didn't feel the same way before I'm playing. I used to play for 5-6 hours a day, playing only League of Legends with friends. And now I'm almost giving up in 2-3 matches. I want to play again but the responsibilities first because of adulthood and got bills to pay and mouths to feed. And now I am playing my own game life :(
1:17 I recognize those keycaps. I can absolutely see why they would use them, they're some of the only ones that are extremely glossy out of the box (clear ABS) which also makes them easiest to wipe down to clean/sanitize.
Good to see that our Uncle Jimmy's channel is gathering steam and getting the huge number of views he deserves for the excellent and wholesome content.
God, South Korea looks so clean! The fact they made all of your food by hand is amazing, especially the amount of munchies you got for $18. Also I was amazed by how clean their cooking oil was when they made that pikachu cutlet! It would be a dream to make one of these over here in America.
So here's what got my attention through out the video: At 5:14 one of them, Seulbi or Seoyeon or both of them, are watching Taeyeon's MV, INVU, I like Taeyeon too. And my god the Internet Cafe there at South Korea is SO MUCH better than some of our internet cafes here in my country, and when I go to South Korea I will definitely visit that internet cafe, 100% So Seoyeon is Bronze, LOL same 😆 Also, uncle Jimmy I just ate my breakfast and when the food you ordered arrived, I swear to god I was hungry again TvT Anyway, good video as always uncle Jimmy :3
Here in the US, $18 for a meal like that would be awesome and uncommon! You're deffinately getting great service for the price- I've been to places that charged a lot more for a lot less lol
Jimmy! I saw you are playing Warcraft 3! That is my favorite game, and thought that not many people play! If you ever need someone to play with, I'm your guy! Also I love your videos!
I never seen them in New Zealand my home country, was not a popular thing here i guess at least is my city. I went to argentina in 2020 like a month or 2 before covid hit and I played at a cyper cafe with 4 of my friends, was such a cool experience.. all of us as a 5 man on league. They are certainly fun, I wish we had more of them around these days.
Yes PC bangs are for people who want to shout at their friends, it brings that LAN party vibe. But it's also for introverts who like the feeling of human energy around them but don't have to actually talk or interact with them. It gets you out of the house/tiny apartment. It's social osmosis.
Internet Cafes are also really popular in Turkey (there are about 30000 cafes) so I was very surprised when I learned that people in Korea also have this. It seems that Koreans and Turks are really similar as people also say that the languages are far but from the same root.
Just helping that algorithm. Wish you all the success man! Great production and very entertaining. I love Korean people, the culture and food. It's the hidden gem of the world.
PC Bangs started in S.Korea in the late 90s due to the StarCraft craze, and tens of thousands of PC Bangs were created in S.Korea and later spread widely in Asia.
Nostalgia crazy! Me and my friends used to stay overnight at our local internet cafe 10+ years ago. We were able to order food, but mainly small cold snacks and drinks. I just want to feel that nostalgic rush again, just one more time 😭😭😭
As an American the closest thing we had to this were arcades. Idk if we have any but I know people would rather play at home. This is an awesome little place. A dollar per hour is an amazing rate. Plus the food? Wow
yea, in the philippines right now, the arcade's where we're at cause many comshops closed cause of the lockdowns :( i'm mainly in a community on maimai, pretty fun and exhausting game i must say :p
The US is too rural and with the advent of pcs and game consoles, making people enjoy time at home. I believe arcades are the closet we would get like at a mall, FAR away..., or "lan" parties, the fortunate ones. High density areas are more lucky, as these ideas are more accessible, like korea, japan, etc.
I remember going to Internet cafes in my country Armenia. We would play multiplayer shooters, Medal of Honor, counter strike. There were two rooms, rooms would play against each other, and there were no coms, so everyone was just shouting. It was fun 😁
When my friend saying that they gonna buy his own PC, then some week after that he return to the Internet cafe. Saying that it's so lonely to playing alone. It's true, when u came alone on internet cafe, u never feel alone.
Nah you gotta do both otherwise go to a normal korean restaurant they got better food. Gaming and food combined makes the experience of the PC bang special.
its a very memorable experience growing up in internet cafe's when I was in Highschool no matter what occasion is, Even if its My birthday me and my friends are always on internet cafes playing dota and stuff 😆 I remember playing 14 hours straight on my birthday it was one of the best days of my life ❤️❤️❤️
I used to go to a places like this, but not anymore when i got myself a good gaming pc now im always at home doing all my gaming business, but i will never forget how fun it was to play at these cafes with your friends and eat good food that's why its one of the best experience.
This reminds me of the old days. I, my friends, and classmates used to go to computer shops after classes and on weekends throughout high school and college. Computer shops these days are much more advanced and convenient. Back in the day, we used to pay for reservations of the PC unit while we eat somewhere outside of the shop. Now you can order food in the shop and eat it inside as well! This video reminded me of the good old days. I wonder where the friends I made during these times are now? It is nostalgic. Thank you for sharing this video.
I am a foreigner. But I enjoyed Korean PC bang. You play, internet is cheap, you get food. You just relax and play. I don't mind people near me, because they don't bother me at all nor I hear them playing and chatting. It was nice experience
In brazil in the past we had "lan house" is the same experience but not too luxury like this Korean Cafe but very funny too, unfortanelly places like this one doesn't exists anymore for a long time. good memories, funny moments!!
I just went to your old channel to watch some videos because I saw you in my subscriptions list and I remembered you, I'm soo happy this channel is going soo well you deserve it, I stoped watching your old channel because I get tired of valorant but I alwais thinked your channel was soo underated, im just soo happy you can finally got the attention you deserve
Dude I have got to move to Korea. Imagine being able to rent an office desk for $1 an hour, get work done, and also afford food for like $10. Insane. You could literally run a freelance business off of one of those PCs and just work remotely.
Woah! This is incredibly mesmerizing! Loving the urban vibes of that café and I hope to experience roller-skating in the metaverse space of Metarollers.
i had a own pc back then but i always chose to play in a internet cafe nothing beats that feeling when you are playing with your friends miss those days lol :D
Used to have those kinds of shops literally everywhere here in the Philippines, but due to the restrictions of the Covid Pandemic and rapidly increasing popularity of the game Mobile Legends, Internet Cafés are decreasing, Also, due to it's high Electricity Consumption and yes, Lack of Customers
The first Internet cafe with the "PC bang" concept opened in April 1994 in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, Korea, under the name BNC. BNC is known as the first internet cafe in Korea and the first in the world. The early PC cafes were often priced at 500 Korean Won per hour, but they survived by evolving into almost an 'internet cafe+restaurant' concept as the specifications of home computers became very good. If they had simply provided internet-capable PCs, PC cafes would have almost gone out of business in Korea. This reminds me that any industry needs to change with the times to survive.
In India also we had many cafes earlier to play different games(mainly CS). I miss those days a lot. It was fun to play together with friends. Now a days the generation is busy with reels and social media.
ahh this video reminds me , when i'm still on elementary school, l play on internet cafe 9 hours straight with my friends, now internet cafe on indonesia is dying
Internet cafe is a relic here in Jabodetabek(Jakarta greater area.) now. It peaked around mid 2000’s right before the internet boom in Indonesia. Back then only few peoples own internet access and a gaming pc so lots of my generation played some games at internet cafe. Old CS or Dota 1 are very popular back then. Dont forget some korean mmporg or korean fps game like point blank are popular too. Now most of internet cafe are closed because the internet is easy to access to regular Indonesian and the trend of gaming are shifting into mobile game. Both reason are the final nail to the coffin for internet cafe here.
Man, I miss when we had more places like this in the west. I would always look forward to ordering pizza and screaming across the table in a game of Counter-Strike or Battlefield with my friends on weekends. Good times. South Korea looks awesome!
We also had internet cafes here called Cyber Cafes by most locals. Sadly most, if not all of them are gone now by the time wifi routers became more available to households and especially after COVID--so nice to see it's still a thing alive in Korea. Our interior decoration was nowhere near as nice as this as they're comparable to computer labs at school, and despite the cafe name ours don't usually serve food lol.
In Southern California, we have NetFragz. My high school team and I went there for scrims since our school didn't provide high end PCs for us. It's about $4 an hour with $20 giving you a whole 10 hours. Not too bad considering how they give you top of the line PCs and monitors, though we did use our own peripherals.
PC Bang used to be so many in the Philippines until the pandemic made the businesses shut down. Me and my brother rent a PC because we enjoy being with other people's company without socializing with them plus we get to hear amazing trash talks from our neighboring stalls. It was a fun time I wish I could rent again and upgrad my trash talking to a whole new level
we used to have one of theses type things where i live and me and a couple of friends would come here every weekend and legit stay from the time we got off school until the next morning when we had to leave. some of the most fun memories i have of being in middle school. it was always fun because i never had a pc so being able to play pc games was a legit magically moment for me
Man the cafes are crazy today lol the good old times it's not that convinient like this. We had to go out while our time in the PC is running to get something to eat while playing or ask someone to buy it and pay them. They are absolutely right tho, the feeling of playing games with your friends in person is entirely different than just talking with them on headset in your home. I used to even cut classes with some friends to play using our lunch money lol we end up hungry and probably in trouble later but we had a lot of fun.
I used to play on internet cafes, be it console only other tons of PC and console focused areas. It's also thanks to my Grandfather who pretty much gives me money accompanied with my caretaker just so I can play any hours though maybe only for less than 5 hours but it was cheap. Back in the Philippines, I know places where I used to play games when I never had those on my home. Games like Metal Gear Solid 3 and Resident Evil 4 was the popularity when it was very new I specifically played on that console-focused area and heck maybe some games that I never heard. That is the first mall I been to much often. Then as years progress I remember going to internet cafe even there is one near our Beach house place on the beach where I played that cooking game that I probably forgotten though it's a one-time experience I never come back there but it reminded me of my PC experience. Thirdly, I also primarily went to that place back in around 2007? It was another mall that I go there maybe every Sunday after church because they got PC and consoles so I probably had played games like Gmod and watched people like PewDiePie (the Friday video that has Amnesia intro). PS3 and PS4 was the case so probably I knew games like Uncharted 3 and then soon after 2013 was Killzone and 2014 was Thief and MGSV Ground Zeroes. Unfortunately, in 2014 it was the end of internet cafe for me so even though I'm in the US I still have fond memories of playing games from my old PC in house and just internet cafes but I wish I knew completely. Oh yes I think back in 2021, sadly the internet cafe I mentioned I go more is gone and I feel speechless but I keep it to myself. Overall, if it wasn't for internet cafes I would never got into PC and console gaming but either way I used to have a Windows XP Computer and absolutely love every weird games I downloaded not from Steam.
