The staples never missing in this house are gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, shin ramyun and of course rice... not too bad LOL

Gochujangis so versatile. I use it for all kinds of western dishes as well. It has such a great and unique flavor. Even though I don't like spicy food that much I really enjoy using gochujang

It really is! There isn't a recipe that wouldn't go good with gochujang. They're are even desserts with it.

As a half Chinese and half Korean guy who grew up w Pearl River Bridge and moved to Korea and “saw the light”, I gotta say it’s my least fave. It’s too chemical/harsh tasting and it needs to be cooked off/heated through to be palatable or used as a dipping sauce. You should try Korean Sempio 501 or 701, but if u don’t have access Lee Kum Kee Superior Soy sauce or Double Fermented are also good Chinese subs.

I very much agree, Sempio does make much better products than brands like Pearl River. I go through a lot of ingredients very quickly and don't always make trips to the many Asian markets here just to grab one or two things so sometimes I'll sacrifice quality for convince. But you are absolutely right. The video itself is meant to showcase the types of things rather than any specific brands or quality differences between them. As a large section of my audience has much less experience with Asian ingredients in general and I had gotten a lot of comments from people just inquiring what certain things are and what the difference between them was. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond and lending some advice 😊

Hi, what brands of gochujang do you recommend?
@TrystanPetrash
@TrystanPetrash 3 года назад
I tend to use mostly Sempio brand however I don't really have any brand loyalty for gochujang. As long as it's made in Korea it should be of great quality regardless of brand. Hope this helps 😊

I’m 13 years old but I am interested in making Korean dishes, so is Mirin or sweet rice wine only for adults?

That's awesome. I started cooking at a very young age with my mom. Most mirin does contain a small amount of alcohol, but it will burn off as you cook it. But you can also find non alcoholic version, the one that I use is non alcoholic.
