This is very educational! I frequent the korean mart here in our country and I just tend to only ask the staff for ingredients I needed based from your recipes. But now, at least I can pick a high quality soy sauce.

I live in Maryland and surround by Korean markers, if you have Lotte or Hmart all products have a white label so you can see the ingredients but you have to peel it off a bit so you can see the raito in Korean. One tip I do want to share, when you find any sauce (any food product) you like take a picture of it, front (logo) and back (ingredients). even if your store doesn't have you can show them the picture and would recommend a similar item. one of the things I wish you can make a video of is Korean meat. Sometimes I'm stay paralyzed because of the thickness and thinness of both pork and beef. my husband was the one who did the shopping and cooking. now I'm doing it and making some mistakes. I made curry the other day and I had the idea of putting thin brisket instead of chicken. honestly it came out yummy, the meat was tasteful and chewy. and I ended up doing the same using rib belly 6mm, again yummy. he still ate it but suggested that I use beef stew chunks. I did and i ended not not liking it. so i hope you can do a video about Korean meat, maybe like categorizing it in "you can use this style of meat in bbq/fried dish and soup based" and also introduce dumplings and steam buns to your fans. Duk Mandu Guk/Korean Rice Cake and Dumpling Soup was the first Korean soup I tried, I was sick at the time and it was the first dish my boyfriend/husband made for me, gobbled up does dumplings mad quick. and steam buns, I honestly don't remember what kind they were but my mother in law made them when we had our first dinner together. I feel like a fatty when I connect my memories with Korean food. like if my husband asked me what he wore on our first date I couldn't tell him but I know what we ate lol

Supremely educational! Who knew one could make soy sauce so entertaining (and educational)?! Keep them coming. Possible topics - which dishes are made/eaten at what time of year (and why); noodles (best used in which dishes); vegetable dupes (for those not having 100% access to Korean markets, which veggies can be swapped for non-traditional Korean veggies).

Thank you for breaking down the confusing process of picking out the best Korean soy sauce brands to buy. I am half Korean and half Caucasian. I grew up in Hawaii with my Korean mother and her family. We ate with forks and only used chopsticks for saimin and kooksu (Mainland Korean spelling gooksoo?) it's the cold somen noodles in a vinegar broth, with bugogi, scrambled egg threads, both soybean and spinach namul and of course all the ban chan. My Uncle Jonah made kimchee for our family. I moved to California for middle school and am now 70 years old, trying my hand at making japchae and other Korean dishes. My boyfriend makes the kimchee in our family. He has Uncle Jonah's recipe, and by the way--he's an Irish/Italian from Southern California! So All-in-all, what I'd like to know is what Korean sauces, etc, to buy the next time we go to the Korean grocery store. I'm getting back to my roots from Wahiawa, Hawaii. Thanks--I enjoyed the video 😊

This helps a lot. Once in a while I love to make kimchi. Sometimes I love to make soup n side dishes but I was so confused on which soy sauce I should use. I went to Korean store last week, so many different types of soy sauce I don't know which one to buy so I just picked one. The one I chose is #2 blended, the one in the red label.. This is very helpful. 😃👍👍👍

Great video! My Korean in-laws all swear by Soup Soy Sauce... didn't understand WHY... but then after learning a lot of Korean cooking (thanks to zoom calls with my in-laws in Korea AND you, dear Future Neighbour!)... the Soup Soy Sauce DOES make a difference. It's not as overwhelming... regular Soy makes soups taste like Soy Sauce Soup... the Guk lets the other flavours blossom, it doesn't overwhelm them.
