Well, I know in South Africa, and I'm sure in other countries, we'll say "fight for it" or "keep fighting" if something is especially difficult. Fight for it is usually like if you really have to go out of your way or try especially hard for something, so more to obtain something, whereas keep fighting is more like an encouragement to not give up if something is difficult, more like for something you want to keep or maintain. I suppose like if you already have a job but you find it difficult, it's an encouragement to keep trying your best

In my personal opinion, Mandarin is a lot lot harder than Korean. Different intonation, a whole lot different meaning. I can still pick up Korean words when watching Korean drama/variety shows/whatever.. But I never pick up any Mandarin words when I watch Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Kong movies, except for some so easy words though like xie xie, ni hao, ta ke, hao (dont know the spelling guyz.. hehehe)

I had a guy on a train in taiwan staring at me and i ignored him. After, say, 3 minutes my girlfriend asked him in chinese if he had a problem. It was annoying and a little rude especially since I was so close to taipei, so it shouldn't be odd. Someone on a bus in thailand once took my picture when I was in a rural area.

Well, to me Korean is one of the easiest language to learn like English. I just picked it up by watching dramas and variety shows. Mandarin or Cantonese on the other hand are super tough.
@swxyik6079
@swxyik6079 2 года назад
I heard mandarin is hard to learn. But i feel English is hard to learn this is why other cultures have a hard time speaking English including Chinese. Even English kids we have to correct daily. For example a kid will say me hungry. Or him happy. And for foreigners if I say what's up? They think about the sky. And don't even talk about spelling.

I heard about the metal chopsticks being a way to test poison because at some point poisoning food was common to get rid of royalty. This way when the chopstick is of a certain metal and it reacts(silver I believe?), changes colors, then you know your food has been compromised.

Skin whitening was common in many cultures as it is seen as higher status. If you have darker skin, it is because you work out in the sun all day whereas if you can afford to have workers to do that for you you can stay inside and your skin is lighter. This was the case in the UK as well as China. Now in the western countries it has actually turned around, where people want to have tanned skin as it looks like you can afford to go on holiday aboard more, which is more expensive. 😀

Why do korean guys stare at me? That is a bizarre question, considering it's one of the most searched questions on the web 🤔
@loe3619
@loe3619 4 года назад
In fact, there is a term for that among Korean girls. It`s called 'Eye rape' which means those behaviors of Korean guys staring at girls passing by and objectifying them all the time. the prevalent Spycams are the type of sexual crimes derived from that mindset. Including the Nth room, Welcome to video... the other sexual crimes related to staring at random girls on the street represent the rape culture of this country. you can search for that if you wanna understand why they stare at the foreign girls without any shame.

Also, my response to the "why do Korean eat garlic" question is who doesn't eat garlic? Like, I feel like most cultures use garlic on a lot of things. I know my fiancee and I use a lot of garlic in basically everything we make. Even just steak, I always use garlic powder as a seasoning.

All languages are hard to learn. But there are a lot of benefits to learning new languages. At the beginning, Korean is quite easy. The Korean alphabet is very simple and the writing is very phonetic. However, once you start learning grammar it becomes much more difficult. The basic word order and sentence structure is fundamentally different from English. (Which I presume is your native language). I lived in Korea for three years and I made a tonne of really great friends throughout my time there. And a large part of that was via language partners I found that eventually developed into good friends. Anyway, don't let the fear of difficulty deter you from learning Korean. Try it and if you enjoy it, continue on with it. If you don't care for it, then you can always learn something else.

Though this video is almost two years old, I still have to say that I am surprised that there are Koreans that don't understand there age [formula]. Koreans are 1-2 years older than their international age and here is why: 1st Korean believe that a new life exist at conception and the clock starts ticking. By the time of birth the child is 1 year old; and, 2ndly in Korea people age at the same time. That is to say, everybody is a year older on the first day of the new year. So if the mother is pregnant on the first day of the new year, her unborn also ages a year or if a child is born just before the first day of the new year then that child will be 1 at birth and a few days later will age a year on the first day of the new year.

I am a citizen of the United States a statement you just made got falls back on me being frustrated with the US citizen and the Canadian citizen comparing English phrases from each country. When the am when the US citizen and the Canadian citizen kept referring to the US citizen as an American and the Canadian citizen as a Canadian. Canadians are Americans just like Koreans are Asians. with that your question are Americans British or English should have been our citizens of the United States of America Canadian. the question was likely relating to the fact that Korea and China are close together. the United States of America and Canada are close together. Who is an interesting fact that I just realized in US history the war between the northern states and the southern states called a civil war. But that's another subject. Is the northern state would not have one the war. Then the continent of America would have to this day. The United States of America and the Confederate States of America then it would have been a bit confusing when a Canadian said America what is that Canadian talking about. Canada , United States of America, Mexico, Panama, Columbia, Brazil the Confederate States of America. Would all be in America.
