@@sushmaprasad4549 Something tells me that you're not Asian. Asia is overpopulated, the average to mediocre are basically sentenced to poverty. The reason why asian parents are strict is because of that mentality. If your kid is doing bad in school and it snowballs, then it's gg. It's next to impossible to live on a part-time if you're in the 2nd world asian country and china. And to live like an average person, you have to have a degree and a job. The competition is way too fucking fierce. If you're not the first 5-10% then the life is gonna be very hard for you. The parents who learned that hard-way teaches their kids the hard-way for some fucking reason idk.

I have to wonder at what point hitting your child becomes abuse. To me, if you're being left with visible bruises or cuts, that sounds abusive. I was never beaten as a child, only lightly spanked a few times. so I don't really know what its like, but I imagine it would make you afraid of your parents and angry at them. I'm not convinced that it's an effective way to raise a healthy child

True story. My son's friend, whose parents are Cambodian, was disowned by his father, because he wasn't accepted into Temple (he didn't apply in a timely manner) and went to a community college instead. It was to the point that when he applied for state funds, his father would not even give the info needed for the application. So he went to his aunt's and got the info from her.

In my country if a person wants to get in a good university we dont go to highschool in 11th and 12th grade but move out to different city where the the coaching for entrance exam is done and we we just clear our 11 th and 12 th grade by 10-20 days study (mostly by 90%+ marks ) . We have school test but they dont contribute to any of our academc character to be judged by university or in job , we just have a board exams at 10 and 12 standard by which our whole academic carrer is judged(in school).

3:21 LOL I went to a top-ranked tech school for undergrad and did this with my classes. We know what lectures will be about in advance because of posted slides and more often than not, we know if there'll be an in-class activity, quiz, exam, attendance count, or other graded assignment. If there are, we don't usually skip. If there aren't, it's a good opportunity to skip and study for a more difficult class. Slides are usually posted anyway and a lot of profs teach from the textbook so it doesn't even matter lol. The fact that Koreans, arguably amongst the people that study the hardest in the world, think this is extreme is surprising! Maybe there is no such thing as an "easy/skippable" class and everything is just hard? I'd love to know!

Nuggetcake ii Respect goes two ways, you can’t hit someone thinking they’ll respect you. If you hit someone you don’t respect them, and they’ll not show respect back, they’ll just be afraid of you or think that you’re just mean. If you hit someone they’ll not learn WHY the thing they did was bad, they’ll only behave because they know that if they do it again they’ll get hit again. Children aren’t stupid, you can sit a child down and tell them that what they did was bad and, most importantly, WHY it was bad and WHY they shouldn’t do it. Ask them what could’ve happened or why they shouldn’t do that thing they did, let them think about it, let them reflect upon their actions. Hitting someone just shows that it’s okay to hit people, but it’s not okay to hit people. Also, why would it be okay to hit children but not adults? Why should it be a part of growing up? I’m a teacher, but only in one subject that they don’t have that often, so I teach at a lot of different schools. The thing is that I always show the students respect, and they show me respect back, but when I see teachers who don’t show the students respect I can also see that the students don’t show those teachers respect back. Sure, some schools are worse than others, but most interesting is that the students who don’t behave well also have a problematic situation at home. The student who don’t behave and don’t show respect are the ones who actually are hit at home (even though it’s illegal) or are victims of mental abuse (which is also illegal). They don’t learn WHY they shouldn’t do certain things, they just learn that if they do certain things they’ll get abused in one way or another, so they still do bad things. They aren’t taught to empathise, they are just taught that some people hit them and that they only have to be afraid of those people.
@paintedbooks4416

It's just punishment so they won't do it again. Obviously not until they're seriously injured. Most parents stop once you apologize so if after 1 hit you apologize then they will stop
@SqueamishNerd
@SqueamishNerd 4 года назад
PaintedBooks Why punish people at all? In my head it sounds like a lazy way of raising children. Why not just tell them that the thing they did was wrong and ask them why they think it’s wrong. If they understand that the thing they did was wrong they will apologise. If they don’t understand you can explain it to them. If you punish them they may not do the thing again, but they’ll not know WHY they shouldn’t do it and they may do similar things since they’ll not think of why something may be bad, they’ll just avoid that one specific thing just to not get punishment, but because they understand the impact of what they did.
