It’s so disgusting. Especially when it’s kids. To stalk and yell obscene things at a child. Be it paparazzi or fans, no human deserves to be treated like this.
Even though I hate saying this but some Kpop idols need to act like this in certain situations. I hate that Kpop idols can get cancelled for standing up for themselves but when you get mobbed at the airport when returning to Korea for a personal reason like a funeral, you have every right to be angry. Paparazzi have no empathy, and they get paid to do so.
Holy shit I never saw the video of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow before. I didn’t even realize it was him at first since Chris is known to be a kind and calm person, however I don’t blame him at all for what he did. It was satisfying tbh
It was my first time watching it and I was so disgusted by it, the nerve of taking pictures of them at such s time and THE NERVE TO GET MAD AND CALL CHRIS A JERK over a camera as if what they were doing wasn’t so much worse
I think paparazzi are in the same box as sasaengs, apart from not being fans bc their interest is totally monetary, but they have the same actions. As dispatch has gained outlet status, it's far less chaotic than American paparazzi. One thing they use a lot is extreme harassment to cause anger and a bad reaction from celebrities, because those are the photos that worth the most. I remember a few times American paparazzi did this to Korean celebrities, sometimes it's purposely changing names, other times it's comparing achievements or asking racist questions, all to get an angry reaction.
It’s like over here we have the nasty paparazzi and in S. Korea they have the “fans”, but all in all they’re both just extremely toxic… it’s really sad. That’s why I couldn’t get into the field of journalism. I’d end up getting fired bc of my moral obligation.
No, they are not the same as sasaengs. Sasaengs do not have a money motive. They're much much scarier. Plenty of scary fans "stans"(from the Eminem music video) in the U.S. are more like sasaengs. Paparazzi are similar to dispatch because both have no morals toward celebs and treat them as cash cows while invading privacy. Sasaengs are just crazy fans that spend tons of money because they're obsessed and unhinged.
Idk how this is not considered harassment. Like, wow, I can just hurt, assault and insult people and call it a job and that would be okey. You know they're saying hurtful things on purpose too so the celebrities would react and they would get a video or a photo of them unhinged. There should be a law or a rule that limits these assholes, don't you think? There should be a fine line between "just doing your job" and straight up assault.
It’s only legal because they hide behind the 1st amendment. They classify themselves as “the press” so they use the freedom of press to harass celebrities. They are essentially legal stalkers.
However, if they breach into your property, you can actually defend yourself. That one time, an Actress from Hollywood's Golden Age scaring off a couple of people with a bow and arrow
When the paparazzi congratulate Gwenith on having a miscarriage, they signed the end of their camera. I'm happy Gwenith defended herself the way she did.
I've heard that some paps purposely try to say things that will get a rise out of a celebrity and hope they will react negatively because then they can spin the story of an "out of control" celeb and sell their reaction pics to gossip magazines for lots of $$$$ because the magazines know those type of pics/stories are the ones that drive fan curiosity...
They do. I remember when Rebecca Roman & John Stamos gor divorced, there is a famous vid of a pap yelling at her for not stopping & saying the divorce was her fault. She was at an elevator trapped & started crying. I think I remember other paps told him to ease up, it was so foul.
this is a bit unrelated, but i have a theory that a lot international kpop fans are wary of fansite culture because it subconsciously reminds us of paparazzi. in a way, regardless of intention, at their core they're both people who take photos of celebrities, even sometimes during private schedules, and make money off of them. i think it brings up a lot of gross feelings, even though there are good ones who do it with a fan's heart. also 2:35 in la there's kind of an unspoken rule that you don't bother celebrities if you see them. you kind of just act like nothing is different even if you're freaking out. if you're a big fan you might go up and talk to them but generally you just go about your day like normal. also i think that might have been earlier in camila's career. i think it's harder the more famous you get, i'm sure really big stars get lots of attention.
I make it a point not to watch celebrity gossip or buy magazines or look at online posts. I refuse to help support them. Celebrities are human and they deserve privacy like everyone else. They are flawed, they make poor decisions, and struggle just like everyone else. Their only job is to entertain us in their element, not with their personal lives.
People have this assumption that if you live the celebrity life, you've basically signed away all rights to your privacy. Like your life is public property for entertainment. its really messed up.
I definitely couldn’t be a celebrity just because of this reason. I’ve also heard so many stories of celebrities having stalkers who travel from other parts of the world because they believe they have some sort of control and power over the celebrity, so basically delusional people, and it’s crazy n scary.
the people taking photos of them straight up in their faces are so disrespectful & disgusting. And when the celeb decides to defend, the people make them the bad guys, when they're literally giving them no privacy and being so invasive, they literally stalk celebs. In the video of Britney Spears in her car, the person taking photos literally went right up to the front of her front window and took photos like she was nothing. People need to wake up and leave the poor people alone.
:( Wish you should of shown them when that disrespectful and gross papparazi was almost taking a picture of Hailey Bieber under her skirt and then after Justin literally told them off and a dumb lady papparazi lied about it
That's interesting that they think that doesn't happy to celebrities in Korea. Cause it does happen with sasaengs who follow their Korean and international schedules and their private schedules
Sasaengs don't do it for money though, they do it for their own sick obsession. And it's not an accepted thing in Korea the way the paparazzi is in America.
@Enzo Sasaengs are aggressive too. They fight physical fights with each other in close proximity to idols and they've been caught countless times trying to harm the idols themselves by sabotaging their car breaks, giving them poison, etc. A lot of Sasaengs and fansites will cuss out an idol if they give other fans attention.
In the United States, if they passed a law that required Paparazzi to be no closer than 100 feet, this would ensure a safe space for celebrities. If they also included in that law that no picture of a celebrity could be published associated with any money exchange without prior approval of that celebrity and also, that celeb would receive a portion of the money paid for said photo, then you might see some decency creep into the lives of some paparazzi. Keep in mind the agency that drives this horrible behavior are the outlets that pay the paparazzi for these photos and the ones that encourage them to goad the celebs to lash out. This is a worldwide phenomenon with a multitude of facets and the discussion is much to long and large for this forum. :)
I was never a crazy fan but I do remember watching I think a mtv true life episode of people who were like obsessed with celebrities and remember one lady complaining I think about an actor who ignored her and said “they chose to be a celebrity, we make their living, they owe us some attention” or something like that and the way that just sounded so dumb and disrespectful made me see celebrities and paparazzi in a totally different light. I have absolutely NO respect for fans like that and paparazzi as well.
I don't think they knew she just had a miscarriage because she literally JUST HAD A MISCARRIAGE and went outside but even if they did know. It wouldn't have stopped them. They will would've done that. Brittney Spears one will FOREVER tick me off. I watched ALL of that unfold on that young lady. To be a mom also of 3. Omg I was livid for her. I pray she's doing better but I know she's still having a hard time with cruel "fans" as they sickeningly call themselves. Reminds me of KPOP when people say, "I'M THEIR FAN." NO, YOU'RE A STALKER IN AMERICA WE CAN CALL YOU OUT FOR THE KOREANS WHO CAN'T.
BTS also happened in the USA, they literally record them with the camera one centimeter from their faces. I remember the first time they were recording on the street and the press came with their racist questions 🙂
And then the same papz lied to really young Army about the interaction and said the boys ignored him and were rude to fans when there were no fans there at all because it was a closed off photoshoot and for staff and them only.
In the US, yeah it's bad. If your out in Public, it's fair game, anything else and these leeches will throw the 1st Amendment left and right. For those viewers who aren't in America and don't know what that means. The First Amendment protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Nope its not even similliar. Korean pop is more respectfull u cant compare that to american pop. Dispatch hides and takes photos meanwhile Paparazzi beat up the celebs
These are pretty mild for the most part. In the 2000's they used to publish upskirt pics of women and the paparazzi's are partially to blame for Princess Diana's death
Here in the USA people do this all the time. When you are in public you have zero privacy. I guess these big shots get tired of answering questions as usually they show up when you have done something bad, like drunk driving. Here in the USA can can take video/photos ANY WHERE from a PUBLIC place... like sidewalks/parks.
Idk what's worse, paparazzi or people who defend them and think celebrities can't be mad at them. Or fans who use some footage to make fun of another celebrities. Like during this while smear campaign against Hailey Bieber. People were laughing at her crying when paparazzi surrounded her and asked rude questions about Justin smh No one deserves to be mistreat like that
I hate paparazzi, they can be beyond disgusting. One of the reasons that Amy Winehouse passed was because of her being followed everywhere with no privacy.💔
As I see it, kpop homma fans are very similar to western paparazzi and Dispatch is the none chaotic version of the same thing. Friendly or annoying, paparazzi is still a lame 'job'.
"I got it on camera! Give the camera back to himyou jerk!" After saying absurd things. Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of your own actions.
I wouldn't mind it tbh, I'd take a seat somewhere in public and just sit down, eat some food, play games on my phone, drink a coffee. I'd ask them to turn off the flash or I won't speak at all.
