You guys are so sweet, there were so many offensive comments about your culture but still you guys handled it with a smile and spoke softly without being harsh. If it were me, i'd be ready to throw hands right there
i think its because they dont have to deal with the issues that also arise from these stereotypes because they live in a homogenist country. Asian people here in America get this types of jokes their way constantly but even worse stuff like violence so its not funny to them.
I agree we should interact more with other people and learn about their cultures and beliefs. I would be honored and humbled if someone asked me about my life and culture. Expand your mind. Learn and experience all that this world has to offer. We only have one go at this, make the most of it.
they definitely laughed it off bc korea is a homogeneous country. they hardly experience racism so it’s interesting seeing their take on this kind of stuff tbh.
Unless some of them travel but I think that it this a thing that people always say about asian people and there is many vietnamese people in our country and people literally sometimes sa such rude stuff as "I won't eat in a place in which people with oblique eyes make food" and things like this. People say that Korea is obsessed with how they look and then there is people saying this stuff like ? Huh ?
I think It's good point. I am Korean and actually experienced offensive comment about my race for the first time in 25 yrs when I was traveling abroad. I'd never been minority in the terms of race before that. Asians who live in non asian country would take those comments differently.
"We should be mingled more" AGREE!!! That's exactly how you fix prejudice, is showing the prejudiced person what the person's culture actually looks like.
True but it takes a long long time... Racism (in the black and white meaning) still exists after so many years so I wonder how much time still until this kind of racism to end...
Loving this channel so far. No matter how much hate they throw at you guys just ignore them. I’m lucky that I’m part of the OnlyCorns 🌽 in this channel OSSC ❤️☺️
You all handled those rude racist comments with such grace. You never let the hate thrown at you hit you. The world needs more people like you in it. Kindness is best.
@@blyndfold4336 those comments they read was nothing if they brought out the really bad comments it would be censored so they go to the family friendly comments
@@blyndfold4336 Yup! It was good to see them realize that comments from, presumably, White people can still be negative toward them. Some Koreans don't hesitate to say offensive things to/about Black people, in particular. It's enjoyable to watch them be humbled by foreigners about things THEY can't help, like their eye size. More Asians need to understand that White people don't always see them in a positive light.
To dry the phone/take out the water..in my country (im an asian too) we put the phone in rice because the rice will absorb the water and dry the phone i have done it too it did work.. But they made it as a meme to insult asians.. By Thinking it won't work 🙃
I was surprised to see your reactions as you guys were laughing it off, it shows how much maturity and kindness you have. I also do the same cause many people in same university and year mock and tease me just because it's fun.
I honestly hope for your sake that they're not making jokes with underlying prejudice. The reason the people in the video can ignore the comments is because they don't face racism in their own country. They will never have to deal with it unless they leave the country, so these comments are meaningless to them. If they actually come face to face with racism then these comments wouldn't be taken so light-heartedly.
I want to apologize for all the shallow people out there who haven't evaluated themselves before they decide to judge others. There is nothing wrong with your culture as far as I'm concerned or any other culture from any country on Earth. We must respect each other's cultures as long as they don't create fear, hatred, and violence. As the bible says, "Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged Yourself"
@@KaotikBOOO I will explain myself to you. I am not a racist in anyway. I love all cultures on this world EXCEPT THOSE THAT Breed Fear, Hatred, and Violence. Fear, Hatred and Violence perpetuate lack of spiritual grow of the entire human population. Love, Forgiveness, Understanding, Compassion, Empathy, and Respect for the way cultures have always existed will widen the minds and hearts of people. It will create spiritual growth. More than that, if the entire world put others before themselves, we would be able to settle differences before they become wars, starvation would be eliminated as well homelessness, reduced mental health problems, less incarceration. World population would be at peace the way we were meant to spiritually grow into. The one thing that is stopping spiritual growth, besides learned racism taught down the family line, is the accumulation of wealth. People only care about themselves as they accumulate wealth which is why there are the Rich and there are the Poor. And some political parties in respective governments are bribed by the Rich to make sure it stays that way. The Bible talks about "The Number of the Beast" The number of the beast is written as "666". Under that scripture is another verse, " For He Who Hath Wisdom, Let Him Understand". The number of the Beast is not "666", it is "999", the purity of Gold In Jesus' Time. So many people and cultures have been killed and destroyed by people's desire for a metal that really only has usefulness in making non-corrosion electric cables and connectors. I could go on but I won't. Take care, and I hope you have a wonderful life.
Ppft……Them claiming Koreans are not obsessed with plastic surgery is wilful ignorance as Korea has more plastic surgery procedures done per capita than any other country in the world!!
Fr, when I studied in Korea for a while I always have to dress up when I go out. Even when the grocery store was just walking distance, people asked me to change (not that I wear an inappropriate outfit) because Koreans will see it as disrespectful, some even put light makeup. I remember the times where I can only wear my slippers inside the dorm and in the wet market, because some people stare if I wear just a slipper outside. What I like about them is that they don't really make a big deal about men wearing makeup or taking care of themselves (like using skincare and other beauty stuff), in my country people sometimes make fun of men doing those things.
Interesting. If you did study or visit SK, or certain other Countries, it can't really be as relaxing as like say.... visiting LA, because of culture rules, but I respect that. In my Country, you can go to the shop in your jammies and it's fine!!!! You are not forced to wear specifics or be specific.... it's more diverse here thou.....much more relaxed..
@@wywyvwyy6373 I do see a lot of people wearing slippers outside, but when I go out only wearing slippers some people stare at my foot which bothers me so I stopped wearing one when I go out.
@@wywyvwyy6373 but they do have outdoor slippers and indoor slippers right? Using the same for both would be a bit like using outdoor shoes indoor In some cases you even have toilet slippers because going inside the washroom and using the same slippers in the other part of the house is a no no
Loving this channel all the way. The internet is a bad place that people make ignorant comments because they are jealous. Don't listen to them and stay safe everyone. Love 🌽🌽🌽
The plastic surgery thing really is just a ramification of the level of importance Korea places on appearances. Because they care so much about how they look to others, they never stigmatized plastic surgery in a negative way (and, as a result, are more willing to get it done). They’re not obsessed with plastic surgery they’re “obsessed” with looking good. It’s more of a social/cultural thing for them. That’s just my understanding tho.
The part about no stigmatism against plastic surgery is not true; it's there, just less direct than USA and it's in different nuances. For example, in the US, I've heard of plastic surgery as more of a moral issue, and people are generally openly against it, while in Korea they may tell you for PR that they're ok with it, but behind your back they'll judge you
Americans and Brazilians are the highest on plastic surgery + body implants too. But media tend to hides it and make it secretive. Americans love to overshadow koreans
@@yolocomics5468 Plastic surgery isn't a moral issue here 💀 It's a social issue. Americans are more worries about how it effects society and people. Actually I can't think of one place where its a moral issues lol. Cuttinf people open hasn't been a question of morality since the 1700s. Back then they thought it was demonic and really didnt get why people wanted to do it (autopsy).
I disagree with everything except the beauty obsessed part, though i know every country is beauty obsessed but i think that korea, amd china is just next level with the obsession.
I don't tolerate ignorance. One thing I have learned about these ignorant bullies is that they're cowards. When you don't fight back, they see you as an easy target and continue their behavior. I shut down their ignorance from the get-go, and if they persist... I leave the consequences up to your imagination. Whether they are white or black, they're all the same.
@@enhaluvr2323 to me I read it as "my teacher thought the Korean kid was sleeping -_- " (as in "man, my teacher is ignorant"). But multiple ways it could be viewed.
Even though something is "true", no one should justify any kind of offensive remarks, there's no justification for it whatsoever. For example if someone's short, and people keep calling that person names regarding their short height, even tho they're short, the insults are still insults.
What if it's really funny though? And shorty has a good sense of humor and can give it right back? What if we aren't all super weak and offended by others worthless words? What if I hate the weak cause they drag you down and the easiest way to keep them away from me is to test them with some soft light hearted clearly obvious insults?
Sometimes people are mean because they are insecure about themselves while others are just being funny which isn't actually funny when it's offensive.....and then there is the stereotypical people e.g. A person who thinks all African have short hair
5:30 this guy is chill AF 🤣🤣🤣 I like his sense of humor and personality. "in my yearbook, we do look all same though" this comment almost got me choke of water. 🤣🤣🤣
This is my favorite yt channel, I get giddy when I click on a new video. Their expressions of confusion and surprise are priceless, great personalities. ...I just realized, I'm not subscribed yet?
That was the ONE thing that pissed me off when I was kid was when I heard other kids making fun of my friends eyes because they were "small" I remember my first "fight" was because of that lol I poured my soda on her head. 🙃
I love korea. You guys are so great and maybe I cannot see every video but all the ladies and gentleman of the channel have always made me feel emotions even when sometimes unprepared to do so. ❤ love the language and perspectives
It's funny to see their reactions to some of these comments vs how AAs understand them because of the sheer exposure we get living in the US. I love that this channel is also willing to explore some of these deeper issues - I know it's not in-depth but it's interesting to see how they think of issues they may or may not face regularly.
yeah I was going to say, it was almost funny to see them try to puzzle through the meanings of some of them because as an asian american you get used to hearing those derogatory "jokes" a lot. I hate that I grew up with so much of that stuff that I'm not a fraction as offended by it anymore as they are.
i never understood saying aapi when talking about asian issues. aapi is an import sociopolitical alliance & we should support eachother but it is impossible for us to understand eachothers racial experience fully (outside of mixed ppl in hawaii i suppose) as we receive totally different kinds of raciam. like do pacific islanders say aapi when someone thing is only about them? arent theyre usually even MORE specific & say polynesian/micronesian/etc right? even saying asian is a tad too broad as north/east/se/c asians vs south/west asians receive different forms of racism based on looks. is the younger generation moving away from asian & towards AAPIs u think?
@@outrohersaidgayrights413 I think this is a really difficult issue to really pinpoint because of the evolving awareness in racial equity and experiences among different Asian groups. And it’s highly charged. Some argue for use of AAPI. Some argue for use for specific terms. Some argue for just Asians. Others say it’s too broad. Too specific. This is a good convo and thanks for bringing it up. I honestly don’t know the right answer other than to say that AAPI is inclusive but doesn’t necessarily mean we are a monolith with similar experiences. But if it’s misrepresentative, then I’m happy to edit and say “Asian American”…whatever or whomever that encompasses.

Also asians are so diverse. Most Malaysians, Indonesians, Cambodians and Filipinas have big almond shaped eyes with double eyelid and thick eyebrows only few who have slanted/small eyes. As a Korean who grew up in the States, I could actually come up with tons of mean comments about westerners as well but that's not who I am. It goes both ways though.
Westerners are biggest manipulators, liars, self centred/entitled, hypocrites (woke only when it comes to black people and LGBTQ, doesn't take racism towards Asians as seriously. Plenty of racist assault on Asians in America, Germany, UK and so on and not just during the pandemic time, but in those videos where they are being racist they will say don't generalize, yet they generalize us Asians. And they're only happy to keep talking abt how Asians are racist, wants us to be PHD degree holders on western culture and history yet they themselves are incapable of understanding other people's culture). I use to like these people when i was ignorant. Let's see how many people get triggered by this truth.

I think because Korea is homogeneous and not overtly affected by the same white supremacist systems (US military presence and their ability to not act right aside) that some of these “jokes” can be brushed off. But in America, which was founded on racism and prospered through the slave trade (and treated and continues to treat Asians, Hispanics, and Blacks abysmally), these are way more offensive.
Yeah maybe because Koreans and most Asians in Asia continent don't/rarely experience racism in daily life thats why its not too offensive. But for americans it is. Cuz we face racism in daily life more often
Super cringe. America is probably the least racist country on the planet. What do you think asians in homogeneous asian countries think about black people? I can promise you that it's 100x worse than whatever you think is bad in the US. Racism is not a white thing, we are biologically wired to prefer people who are closer to us genetically, hence family is commonly the most valued all over the world.
For a 'white supremacist' country, the US is REALLY bad at it. Somehow black people still get wealthy, get elected to the highest offices in the land, get nationwide TV shows where they can talk about racist everyone but themselves are. Asians outpace whites in EVERY metric. Just bad at keeping minorities down. You should try Ukraine, they know how to run a white supremacist government.
Ok, since this is your favorite topic to brag about, what are the solutions to these problems? Why do you leftys keep bitching about it instead of staying off the internet actually being out excitedly working on the solutions? It's not like you're innocent of any wrong-doing yourselves.
Honestly, negative comments are not uncommon. Some offer constructive criticism, others are just immature, petty and filled with ignorance, racist hate and divisiveness. My only advise for our Asian brothers and sisters is to be more OPEN, more EXPOSED to different cultures, ethnicity and physical features/genders. We all are more alike than we are different and could all learn from each other. Empathy, respect and basic manners comes in all shapes and colors no matter which country or ethnicity you are. We should embrace and respect each other's differences and understand that we are more ALIKE than we are different.
I genuinely don’t get why some people make fun of Asian eyes. I’ve always thought the men looked cool and the women looked beautiful. Ever race and culture is beautiful in their own way imo and I will always appreciate people that are different
It's an actual thing. It's called the cross-race effect which is the tendency to more easily recognise faces that belong to a person's own racial group. It's caused some issues in witnesses identifying the wrong person in a cross-race line up.

Funny that’s how I used to think and criticized about my own culture as Korean. Changed my mind after I moved to the western world after figuring out it’s not much different here either. Humans like to fit in the society by looking similar and doing similar things. The difference is just how fast you apply it to yourself. In the west the spread of trends is slightly slower than in Korea but the nature does not really change.

Not sure how I ended up here but glad I did. I’m from the US. Plenty of Asian people around my area. I’m from the south. For the most part we make fun of each other with half truths or exaggeration. In good spirits, it works out better to keep us connected. The worst thing is when people move to an area and isolate themselves with only familiar people of the same background. Better to put yourself out there. Good banter goes a long way. Just keep it respectful

Ok I did not know what this video would be about, but now I feel these are comments made by Americans, about Asian-Americans... because a lot of them reminded me of Family Guy and their jokes.
I think the "Asians are bad drivers" stereotype exists because of immigrants moving from places like China, where driving is not necessary for most people, to the United States, where nearly everyone needs a driver's license. So you have adults who are just learning to drive, or are rusty due to lack of practice.
I thought it was because the way the rules, regulations and also the way people just drive in China are way different from how you drive in the US. Like it's more a free for all or something like that will in the US there's more strict rules.
