Dude, you're a freaking monster, just two pieces of gear, yet this sounds like it could the soundtrack of a big budget movie, i would love to hear a full version of this. Cheers man!
Very much appreciated! I'd originally made this as a snippet for instagram - now that they take longer videos, I'll get around to making a longer version!
@@COSTERSCOTT this was one of the final pieces of inspiration needed for me to buy a kp3, it's been posted today and will be here Saturday I hope. I have a kp1 but want the sampling capability of the kp3 plus all the other cool stuff it does I also have a volca keys, mother, electribes and a bunch of other bits and love ambient trippy sound scapes.
Thanks Mark lapham Have fun! / if you haven’t yet, have a look at this guy for some ambient KP3 inspiration. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NLgXXvf5Sq4.html
ok this is 7 years old.. surpised I didn't find this sooner. Do you remember what you were doing with the MIDI? Did you not have to get a 3rd party box so the KP would interact with other MIDI devices?
It really has been some time. I can only think I was trying to use the Kaoss as a master clock on the Keys. Not sure if I was successful though. Will pull these devices off the shelf again to see!
Very nice- and just the Keys and Kaoss pad. I wonder what you could do if you used all four loops and resampled some effects in too? I've recently got the kaoss pad 3 plus but not learnt my way round it that well yet. When you see how Beardy Man or Jon Hopkins use them, it's incredible and inspiring.
Very thoughtful of you! I think one could do a lot more than I’m doing here! For sure the temptation often is to move on before really exploring everything about a machine.
It's pretty awesome for doing general effects live. I'm think of selling mine so that I can afford a poly synth but it is definitely hard to say goodbye.
For live instant gratification, yes absolutely! It’s a lot of fun and you can really groove with the touch interface. For recording, I prefer to add most of my effects in my DAW for a bit more control.
Yes. Absolutely nothing more than the Kaoss and the Volka Keys being used here (I'm even going directly into the camera, so there is no equalization or anything). I used the Kaoss to record a short sequence from the Volka and that is what is playing in the background.
@@COSTERSCOTT Love it man, really beautiful stuff! Thanks. I'm inspired to buy both of these units after hearing you play. Trying to get out of the ableton box, and get my hands on some knobs!
It's Wednesday at 1am where I'm at in Idaho at the moment but this is still Tripppppy. Subbed and liked for sure feel free to send it back! Looking for soundscapes/audio for future vids as well let's keep in touch!
Hi Diego Agudelo - thanks! In this instance, midi clock sync wasn’t necessary, but the setup was to make Volca’s sequencer clock sync to kp3 (kp3 has a bpm display unlike the Volca).
+cosmogang I have wanted one for almost 10 years and even though they are less unique now with so many X/Y pads and DAWs I finally just bought one. No regrets.
Certainly virtual instruments are amazing now, but dedicated physical machines are so much more fun to play with and look at, I think. Glad to hear that you are enjoying yours!

Hi Alexander! Great video what are you connecting it with and to? I bought it recently and unfortunately I dont have speakers and I'm so annoyed because it seems now like a silly purchase.
Hi Mary Almeida - Volca into KP3, and then from KP3 directly into a Sony camera - I’m monitoring with headphones. Stick with it and it won’t seem silly! 😉👌
I have a pedalboard I use on the table top... it has a drum machine running through an effects pedal into the ditto X4 looper.. and my guitar running through the other effects pedals into the ditto X4 looper.. how do I hook up the Korg kaoss pad to the Looper to be able to affect the overall loop with the sound effects from the cord? Do I do this with MIDI cables?

Chucky McNelly - One could sample and play beatbox style on the Kaoss, but you are basically limited to four samples at a time on it - it is really an effects processor more than anything. And the Volka Keys is a synth - it's great for pads and melodic leads as well as for bass lines.
I trying to get a simple set up for my band, we have drums, bass, and violin. Mainly for padding violin melodies so ambient sounds. I love this setup but was thinking about adding Korg monolog for playing notes. But I feel that might be a synth overkill for a beginner? any suggestions? I sing and sometimes play bass so already have my hands full ha :). Would really appreciate your thoughts here. Thank you !
@@amatuerbeats2092It's just Volca headphone output into the Kaoss RC input. There are some good tutorials online, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.
Hey man awesome video ! I have a little question for you ! . How do i connect my volca to my pc and then be able to send midi information from my daw to the volca and be able to record that ? Thanks !
Leonardo Caceres thanks 🙏 - you can get an “audio interface” and something like Ableton Live. You can use the midi connection on your audio interface to send commands to your Volca, and return the audio to Ableton to record on your PC - there are other ways to do this, of course. There are a lot of videos you can watch to learn how to do this stuff! Have fun!
Damn, the sample is like progrock odd meter stuff, did you sync the midi clock to KP3? and indeed i agree with @daniel serrano this sounds like a full blown movie soundtrack!
