It's been 10 years since this almighty, versatile virtual analogue synthesizer hit our shelves... we take another look at why this synth still has the staying power. for more details please visit dv247.com www.dv247.com/k...
@@broccolihart1 Easy fix too. Some people just let them sit without a cover and dust is the enemy of a lot of musical instruments,, but some people are afraid to dismantle them,,, so you end up getting a good deal. Somebody's junk becomes someone else's treasure.
I’m not into this and I still don’t understand how he got that sound did it have to do with the knobs on the lower left? I didn’t understand what setting he was it seems like each time he played it was a different setting but I did not see him turning the knob
@@evelynvongizycki1017The square buttons under the largest knob are used to go through the standard sounds made by Korg. But of course you can customize your own sounds.
this is a classic synth. I feel as though any serious keyboard player or producer should have one in the arsenal........even if it's just to add to the collection
+Angelo DelSenno have you tried it through a PA? I run my MK through an EHX Cathedral into a big PA every week, sounds dark and charming. Strymon has a very transparent sound, which many prefer. The EHX really has a moody and character laden feel.
The EHX cathedral is nice, but I feel that most of the presets are designed mainly for use with a guitar. The big sky also has a bunch of extra parameters available in the sub menus. Very versatile. I recently switched to the BigSky after having the Cathedral for about 7 mo. and I haven't looked back. Not trashing cathedral at all though. It's probably one of the best sub $500.00 reverb pedals.
Most of these product demo videos are shit - check out all the videos or random kids in their bedroom for a better idea of what you can wring out of this thing!
I really wish that you would have kept going with the last part of this video. That really grabbed my attention being able to plug your phone audio. Wow, There's a person on craigslist selling one for $250.00USD.
What I find funny is that this synth is the one that gained popularity and it's big brother, the MS2000 which was essentially the same synth but had more real time controls on it and more features, kind of seems to have faded into obscurity. You still see this synth kicking around in people's studios, their gigs, and setups even today. It sold like mad. The MS2000, while everyone seemed to have one when it came out, seems to have, disappeared now. You pretty much NEVER see one in a studio, or at a gig any more. I'll never understand how this little thing became so popular and the MS2000 just... went into everyone's closets, when in my opinion, the MS2000 was the far superior synth with all the real time control elements on it.
I love the MS200 (LOVE it), but the 4-voice polyphony and super-dodgy power supply soldering issue didn't do it any favors in the long term as far as sales are concerned; it also a significantly larger footprint in the studio or on stage than the Microkorg. Totally agree about its capabilities though, absolutely wonderful unit.
Years ago I had the chance to buy this but the guy said a Korg R3 was the next one up. Naaaah it's not better for dance music! I got me an access virus polar ti2, bass station 2, op1 teenage engineering n a elektron analog rytm when it's released..... Still....... Would love one of these! Too many synths? Never!
Got the Volca Beats + Monotrons + Monotribe along with this, saving money for a field mixer and portable amp and then I can do live synth gigs wherever! The OP-1 is also a fav!
IVE HAD MANY SYNTHs. THE R3 WAS A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. cheap plastic look and toy sounds. the microkorg although looks like a toy is the best sounding keyboard.
Does anyone know if the Microkorg S features the same sound played at 4:30? got an idea for a song using it but don't want to pay for the upgraded model if it doesn't feature that sound lol
The MicroKORG XL is technically better. It's designed as the successor to the MicroKORG and as such has a more advanced sound engine, except it's basically aiming to do the same thing as the MicroKORG ie, try and be kind of a jack of all trades synth primarily for people who wouldn't normally play synths. So it's actually really kind of debatable. I have a regular plain old MicroKORG but havent had much experience with the XL. For me, the MicroKORG led me into analog synthesizers and I couldn't imagine needing the XL at this point.
Does it have speakers on it and can be plugged into a mixing desk? I'm after one but I don't know how the sound physically comes out it. I'm VERY new to synths!
I want one so bad, and i looked on 2 sites One for 400 bux and one for 80. They are the same, how can the price drop so much? I know the 400 one is GuitarCenter but Come On
Hello, I'm undecided between this synthesizer and the other new version ROLAND BOUTIQUE JP-08 JUPITER-8 SOUND MODULE, I state that I do hip hop with a sampler the akai mpc 2000 xl, you say which is the best to have those dark bass ? or if maybe there is someone else who you recommend? greetings
I'm 2 years late at a reply to your question. I do recommend getting one. I've had one since '08. I also do hip hop with and MPC2000. The Roland boutiques are cool. Nowadays I would recommend spending your money on Behringer stuff. Trust, I just bought in September of 2020 a Behringer Poly D and it is ridiculous. I haven't used it yet with my MPC because I bought a Behringer RD-8 (Roland 808 clone). Trust me, put your money on Behringer.
It's totally appropriate that I have the privilege of being the first comment for this vid.The micro Korg has been an important part of my studio from the beginning. I have 2 of them synced up midi and audio and Kaos pad ! GREAT COMBO !!!
You don't need to spend time describing a sound, e.g., "aggressive bass kind of sounds." That sound will actually come out of the keyboard, when you hit the keys. Just hit the keys. No explanation is necessary.
Been using the plugin and even in layered mode and chorus applied this thing is a thin dud. It sounds bloody terrible and weak. I can't find any use for it at all.
+Nolan Campbell Photography In the Edit Select 1, there is a category "Audio In 1." You might have to adjust the "gate sense" or the "threshold." Otherwise it might be the "trigger mode" setting in the "Voice" category. Hope that helps.
I have a MicroKORG that is not very old (today is April 11th, I got it in around August 6th, 2015) and MOST of the normal patches work fine (1 or 2 don't), but when I go to make a custom patch, no matter the type of wave, I can't get the volume to change properly and when I turn it to max, it makes it buzz when I hit a key. Can anybody help me? 🙁
Great video, thanks! just a quick question can you put the sustain all the way down and press one key so it holds until you press another ey? thank you!!
Instead of a microKorg, I dove for a microKorg XL, which has more in common with the Radias than the MS-2000 (I exchanged a 2000 synth keyboard to get the XL). One thing I miss about the 2000 is a bi-timbral patch which layered a cross mod sound like those produced during the Transformers film of 2007 over an arpeggio. Even w2ithout the 2000's onboard sequencer, could such a patch be re-created with either the microKorg or the microKorg XL?
