if you turn any knob whilst it is tuning it unlocks a little Space Invaders style game. use a sequencer button to shoot. the reward for winning is design/engineering credits.
Man, you are really good at this. I like that you have a chapters on the side and your narration is very laid back but not boring or stiff. Also some dope sound design. Subb'dddd 🎹 👽👍
@@eartho I disagree. Loopoop is a nice guy I'm sure but he is so monotone and robotic about everything. Too formal when talking about a synth, his personality doesn't really shine through.
Thanks! I was just going out of the headphone jack, I believe. For cleanliness :D But it's just a stereo quarter inch to left and right quarter inch mono into the zoom H6 *edit just looked at my own damn video and nope, I was using simple quarter inch cables left and right to the zoom H6.
One thing about the filter+EG that I’m not understanding or hearing about much is whether it can create really snappy percussive envelopes with a strong initial transient peak. This to me is a basic requirement. Your sound hear in the filter section sounds like it has plenty of high frequency content to allow the filter to create that percussion on attack, but the filter EG sounds very soft, with not evens gentle bump on the attack. I just cant figure if the filter+EG supports this sound or if I’m not hearing it anywhere because it simply doesn’t. Any help is appreciated!
this is so incredibly useful and simple, thank you, i've never played synth in my life (i play piano) and just got myself a minilogue xd, your tutorial is so clear and helps not to get lost in all the knobs and buttons, thanks!
hi, I have a problem, when I want to start preset from scratch and press shift play, key trig on / off pops up.Also trying shift and first seq button and also nothing. Please help. greetings
around 37:50 he's saying to push the shift+play buttons to get the LOAD PANEL option.. this isn't working for me. It's just toggling KEY TRIG OFF/ON. what am I missing? I've tried many different things. Great video!
loving this synth, I sold my MS20 for this as its more user friendly. though I do miss the grunt the MS has. I enjoyed your video and picked up a few tips I did not know. is there any chance you could do a video on how to use the software with it and how to load user wave forms?
Yeah man, I am trying to get my screen capture software going so I can do that sort of stuff. The refresh rate on my camera makes for unbearable screen viewing :D Thanks for digging the video :D
Wow, so I just picked up the Minilogue XD and got my studio all set-up. There were a lot of features I wasn't aware of, or I didn't know how to navigate this. This video was thoughtful and helped me get more acquainted with the functions and feature of my synth. Great stuff!
Are you looking for more tips and tutorials? Here's one that I found quite useful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AmZ9Y105j5w.html "Minilogue XD, is it REALLY awesome? - Complete review/tutorial" I really like my Novation Bass Station II but the Minilogue XD fascinates me especially because it also has 4-voice polyphony and some interesting effects added to it. Do you already own a Korg Minilogue XD? Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your synth and have a wonderful day.
Best tutorial yet. Even rivals Loopop. I've had this synth for a year and a half and just learned how Portamento works? Korg needs way better tuts and vids.
I really like it!!! Thanks for all the nice videos! Dont know if I really need it because I want to make Hiphop Beats.😄😄😄 But the normal silver Minilogue is affordable. Also it seems like a good synthizer for beginner isn't it!?!? (Think I am going to but a Roland 404 First😊)
This....all day.Well done.I would say you also could have went over how to get the synth in key tigger mode, such that each key will trigger the sequenced pattern according to key press. Well done overall my friend
Aaaaand subbed. Great walkthrough of everything. The xd seems so user friendly and easy to get out ideas with. I have a prophet 8 that I love a lot, but I'm looking for a companion synth. This may be a cool one to add.
Great tutorial thanks! Question: when I hold Shift and Play to initiate Load Panel, it just toggles between Key Trig. On and Off. Do I have to change something?
Yeah, that's all great. Really informative. But how do I make it go "bwoopbwoopbwoop" ? The sawtooth lfo needs to go in the reverse direction. Sad. So sad. 😉
This or the Behringer Deepmind for pads? Producing HipHop. Need something to give me another sound palette to compliment well with my Mono Synths (Vermona Mono Lancet 15 and Arturia Microbrute).
Thanks for this great tutorial! I just puchased the xd module. I can’t get the xd to communicate properly with my iMac via USB when trying to update Firmware etc.. Any suggestions about using the Korg Midi driver - or perhaps uninstalling it...? Confusing!
Thanks for the video! 👌 Do I understand correctly that I can save sounds in the Minilogue and release them up quickly using the sequencer buttons? How many sounds can I save?
Thank you for commenting! Sure, the menu dive thing is very, very simple to understand. When you go into the edit menus, they are all divided up along the sequencer. When you press a button on the sequencer, the corresponding menu pops up on the display. If that menu has more options, you can just repeatedly press the button the sequencer that it corresponds to, and it will cycle through the various menus for that given parameter. It's a tiny bit menu diving, but really not bad once you get the hang of it.
Why is "Replicant xd" at Program position 499 - or is it just an modification saved to 499? Can you recommend custom patches? - I can't select the type "fat 1" im combination with Replicant xd, like you - why? I really like the sound at 5:05, but i can't reproduce it with my Replicant xd :(
That's a patch I saved I believe. no need to buy custom patches, just program your own, explore! you'll get there. And you can't select the Fat 1? it's under the third oscillator, its the digital oscillator.
Very exciting! I just unboxed mine a few days ago but haven't had any time to spend with it yet, so I'm looking forward to watching this vid in my studio and learning some things about it very soon! Thanks for doing this - liked and subbed!
yay! yeah, my video is very basic, but it will get you up and running. there are a few other features I didn't cover, but just see how to dive into the menus in my video and you'll be able to explore the rest. enjoy!
Hello .Im having problems deciding about buying the xd when ive got the original silver but the xd has got that Roland tb3 acid effects but i was gonna get the tb3 .what has the best resonance the tb3 or korg xd if u know ?
Is it possible to start play sequencer from external ? I tried with Traktor but it doesn't even though the korg is set in external clock and the machine is locked when I change BOM in traktor it changes in the korg Thanks
It should be possible. Maybe look up what CC message is associated with the sequencer? There has to be a number associated with it. I've not used mine with external sequencers in that way because honestly you get more of a sequencer out of external than you do internal. Any reason you don't just sequence it from the computer?
Fantastic tutorial. Really appreciate it. One question: Has your oscilloscope ever stopped working, and you had to restart your synth to make it work again? Just wondering if this is common. Thanks!
Very comprehensive overview, would you mind letting me know if the filter is self resonant i.e playable as a sine like the og minilogue was? Can't find this info anywhere
Hey there, I don't believe so, though I'll have to try it out. They already have some pretty capable sine waves in the 3rd oscillator so I don't know if they added a self resonant filter.
Thanks for an extremely informative video. I’m thinking about buying one. Two limitations worry me. Only having 16 steps on the sequencer is limiting, I really need enough for 32 bars, secondly the lack of an audio input. I’m essentially a guitarist and would love to use the effects section. Anyway my choice is between this and the mini brute SE. Both have strong and weak points. Decisions, decisions!
Hey dude. Thus was insanely nice and way better than the tutorial by the Korg dude with the glasses. They need to hire you instead. Can you please explain the 4 track sequencing in another video? I'm not finding this feature on mine. Oh yeah... I'm a subscriber.
wow man, thank you so much! I really dig Nick Kwas's music, you should check out his "modular on the roof stuff", but I super appreciate the compliment! yes I'll explain the 4 track sequencing my dude, let me get home from work and start a little plan thanks for the sub!!!
Great video! I'm waiting on my XD module. Question, does the menu of the 200 factory samples come with any sort of catagory sub menu such as Pads, Pianos, etc. or are they just randomly listed?
@@davidsobel3303 haha, it's really not that big of a deal. I mean, it's so easy to design patches, that I recommend just designing sounds as you need them. you'll be happy with it for sure!
Thanks you helped me understand some of the basic features. I wish these synth manuals came with tutorials or the minilogue xd came with a hard copy manual. Guess I'll print one out lol
