KORG MS-10 TUTORIAL AND OVERVIEW 

Interesting to see there is a trigger button under the modwheel... and a switch to have it affect the LFO.... My MS10 (and some others I have seen) doesn’t have this!

+once upon a synth Have you played the MS 20 Mini? When I fooled around with it at a store, there was a *LOT* of noise in the Circuit & there was also VCO bleed. Seemed kind of shoddily wired :[ This MS 10 you have seems really clean & well grounded. If you have tried the MS 20 Mini, do you notice a difference in the quality of the construction between the two?

My MS-10 doesn't have that Modulation Off switch or the other one below the wheel. How is it explained?

My MS-10 does not have that little switch on the patch bay beside the Modulation Generator. What's up with that switch? Also, i forget where to plug in my elec guitar and what knobs to use to make sounds from the guitar. Any idea? It's been a long time since i touched my MS-10

hey thanks so much for this video its so helpful. I am learning and finding myself getting fixated on some basic details. I want all the different ways things get talked about in synthesis to match up in my brain, especially when playing the MS10. I am sure many other people learning feel the same. Please offer corrections if I get any jargon wrong or anything which you think will help clarify certain points below. Can anyone here answer these questions/add to the picture of synthesis I am building in my head. If the 7 main components of any synth include (as pulled from the youtube vid INTRO TO SYNTHESIS from the new york school of synthesis) 1. amplifier makes sound higher and lower /volume 1. oscillator (OSC/DCO/VCO) controlling pitch 3. filter (VCF) removes or allows certain harmonics through to make the sound lighter or darker /texturising (is this a good word for it?) 4. Volume envelope yells at the amplifier, controls peaks 5.Filter envelope yells at the filter to control brightness 6. Pitch envelope ?? 7 LFO is a modulator which makes things wobble/wiggle and we hear it on other stuff (for example LFO talking to OSC modulates the pitch which creates vibrato but LFO talking to the amp modulates volume which makes tremolo ) pulse width modulation - where does this belong among this list of the core components of the synth? frequency modulation - where does this belong among this list of the core components of the synth? Where in this list would you situate the KORGMS10 "Cut off Frequency Modulation" knobs and the "Frequency Modulation knobs" Like what synthesis component do those parameters fall under /how do I descrive their relationship to the 7 main components of sythesis Then on a KORGMS-10 I can say 1. the amplifier is controlled by the volume knob and also by default, the Voltage controlled Lowpass Filter and by the Envelope Generator and any of the modulations which affect external signals patched through. 2. the OSCILATOR is the VCO on the korg , where u have a knob for the pure waveform u want to dial in, a knob for the pulsewidth of this waveform, a knob for the scale you want to dial your pitch into, and another sensitive pitch knob 3 . VCF is found under the name Voltage Controlled Lowpass Filter with a knob for both filtering harmonics and resonance 4. Filter Envelope - would you argue this is created through any complex combination of modulation involving the Cutoff Frequency Modulation and Frequency Modulation and LFO and e.g? 5 Pitch Envelope - would you argue this is created through any complex combination of modulation involving the Cutoff Frequency Modulation and Frequency Modulation and LFO and e.g? 6 Volume Envelope - would you argue this is created through any complex combination of modulation involving the Cutoff Frequency Modulation and Frequency Modulation and LFO and e.g? 7 LFO is the MODULATION GENERATOR which can talk to the filter or the "''Cutoff Frequency Modulation'' knobs and can also talk to the ''Frequency Modulation''' knobs I hope its ok i learn out loud here and any ideas and info are appreciated THANKS
