Thanks for this detailed tutorial. Cubase works flawlessly for me. I tried using Ableton, but it merged the entire MIDI file onto a single track. Cubase, on the other hand, is incredibly user-friendly. You just start a new project, drop the file onto the grid, and it automatically detects the channels, tracks, and names. The MIDI output to my PA5x plays back perfectly on the original instruments. I'm currently using the 60-day free trial of Cubase Elements, and if this continues to work well, I'll definitely be switching to Cubase.
Super tutorial, Qui It looks easy, but if you realy want 3 intro's, 4 variotions with llet's say each min 2 cv's, a break and 3 endings, it's gone take a lot longer as 20 minutes. But the basic feayures are very good explained, so I'm gone try this out. Thanks for your nice tutorial(s) 😉
Thanks this was a really great tutorial. I was wondering if it is possible to make a video on how to change parameters like upper vdf cuttoff on cubase, or making a track pan left and right while playing. As far as I know it can’t be done on the 5x system itself. Also I would love to know how to edit chords in intro1. Many factory styles change chords automatically in intro 1 and this would be amazing for my user styles. Thanks
Hello First of all many thanks for your tutorials. I learnt a lot. I Have a question about the minimal version of cubase is needed to make the same you made in the video. For exemple is the version Cubase Elements 13 enough or a more expensive version is needed ? Many thanks in advance
Good morning sir I would like to connect my pa5x to midi with my genos what is the procedure on the pa5x to do to be able to have the styles and instruments of the pa5x on my genos I will be grateful for your help
I have been using Cubase for a while to create styles. When saving the midi file Cubase default save as . midi which is not recognised by Pa5x or 4x. So I had to manually change it to .mid
Hello! Sometimes the Drum notes on cubase sound different on korg, os there a good solution for this? What Vst do you use on your durma and percussion in cubase?
Hi Qui, thank you for this tutorial, but do you connect the Pa5x to your pc via a MIDI-interface instead of a USB-A to USB-B cable as the Korg USB-MIDI driver doesn't work properly ? Or do you have certain settings that allows a direct connection with a USB-cable to work ?
I use an usb cable and you don't need the korg midi driver, it will show up in cubase or other daw's as a generic usb midi driver which you can select. That is basically all. No need for driver installations. I've explained this more indepth in the midi2style yamaha app tutorial where I also use the korg pa5x as a midi source for that yamaha app
Can you please tell how to setup the midi presets in the korg pa5x because when i try to record new style in cubase using sound bank's from korg pa5x they didn't sound properly.
@quirobinez Thank you! Great video btw, I was searching a lot for something like that because I couldn't export the midi properly. I'm gonna try your way and hopefully be able to do it!
In this video you are with a chord variation with just one bar and one chord. Lets say that I have a midi file with many chords in the variation . How to transpose the other chords to just one ? Any easy way or do I have to transpose one by one ?
normally you only use the parts in a style that forms the rythm of that part. But if you want to use more of the part then indeed you have to transpose the chords one by one. The easiest way is to just select them in the key editor of your daw and than move them to the correct position.
not, these are protected, but in this tutorial we are saving the edited style as a new style. You can see that around 20:50 minutes in the video. It's also possible to load the midi file in the new style mode, but in that case you have to setup a lot more things (like FX and default sound selection) your self. So that's why I load it in a default standard style, that saves time.
hello Robinez, I have many styles from other brands, especially Yamaha, ranging from Tyros 1 to Tyros 5, I can open them with Cubase and if I want I could set them with the right sounds of the Korg PA5x and in the end I would like to export them directly to the Korg PA5x without too many steps . I know that there is a "Style Works XT universal" software that could be for me. Do you think it is possible to convert them directly with this software? Thank you
I don't have style works, so I don't know if that works. But if you open a style from the tyros in cubase then it shouldn't be to hard to add those markers (you can copy those markers also from a template you make in cubase, so you don't have to type it in, then it's just a matter of dragging them to the correct position)
