Your videos are like a history lesson into past music gear, and I love it! I have to say that around the time the PadKontrol was already out its rival was the MPD24, which I bought at the time. I still have mine and do agree that the pads were not the best, but it was way better than M-Audio's pad control pads. Comparing my MPC One pads to the device, Akai has come a looong way!

Padkontrol was my first drumpad controller! Have a huge soft spot for it I had two padkontrols back in the day because I loved the pads, but just wanted to play more pads at the same time. Would be cool if Korg made a successor to Padkontrol It's crazy how cheap these are on Reverb now. If I was a starting producer and was unsure of committing to a large purchase, a used Padkontrol is what I'd get

Still have mine, bought it 10+ years ago Used for pretty cheap. This in conjunction with Ableton and/or Cubase = MPC for me. Felt amazing triggering chops on 16 pads like an MPC. I loved how you could enable/disable the volume intensity. Made programming drums/samples a walk in the park. And to this day the pads still feel nice to the touch. PLUS the X-Y pad was also midi. I actually plan on hooking it up to my S2400 via MIDI and see how i can put it to use.

The Korg Pad kontrol was dope! I still got mine. It works great with Reason's Kong and Native Instrument's Battery 4.

the editor should have been able to do what native mode could do. they would have killed it! great video you was right on point.

I still have my Akai MPD32 and it's amazing using it in FL Studio with it's transpose controls. Fast and accurate to the touch. I just set the MMC clock and it is good. Great video my friend.

Saw mine this morning coincidentally while storing a mixer Still my favourite pad controller but haven't got room for it currently. Never managed to get the editor to work but as you say. Easy to program from the hardware itself Up there with the novation SL MK2 for programmability and usability.

My classic white PadKontrol is up and running since 2006. I never needed the editor librarian. Loved the way you could edit in the unit itself.

When I was starting out I wanted a drum machine like an mpc1000. I went into my local second hand music store and being totally naive got sold an Akai mpd24 for the equivalent of $200. Was pretty gutted when I realised it was just a shit midi controller.

The Korg PadKontrol was a USB MIDI controller manufactured by Korg. The PadKontrol was released in 2005 as a competitor to the Akai MPD and the M-Audio Triggerfinger.

I still have mine and I think they still hold up. I use mine mostly with my iPad these days since I have Maschine and Push on my PC. But those Pads really are no joke though.

Anyone knows the exact settings for the PK to be recognised by its librarian on windows? When I try to send a template to the PK an error pops up saying ‘device not connected’. I’m able to play some instruments already with Reason’s default scene 16 but I’d like to use the 16 levels template with Kong but the librarian fails to recognise or “see” the device

These PadKontrol units are pretty cool for the price... I got one used off Ebay for like 75 bucks after shipping like 3 or 4 months ago... I run it into a Kenton midi thru device then lines out from there to synths and samplers and etc... They work good and for the price its hard to complain...

How do you save the settings on your padKontrol? I'm so happy using it, but when I open the same session on Studio One, I have to set the whole shit again... It's frustrating

Man you should do the Akai Timbre Wolf, Rythm Wolf, and Tomcat.

I used mine with roland variOS assigning timestretching and pitch to XY… just try to imagine ;) About mk2… vestax pad One is the one you are missing since Korg did some things with Vestax (like the faderboard) but most users hate any shape outside 4x4… but these now are a rare and dicontinnued units but cheap… mmm… :D

Maaaan I copped one about 5 or so years ago, I never got accustomed to using it on FL Studio and ended up selling it to one of my coworkers at the time. I got a MPD 218 now, but I miss the PadKONTROL. I should've been more patient with it!

That just happened to me with the missing software. I bought a VI61 and it was supposed to have a copy of Ableton live lite, it did not. Oh but I got a demo of melodics...? Psh.

(responding what you said at 7:48) Akai's Pad's STILL suck.. and no matter how much you adjust the sensitivity .. it's like flat booty. Thats one of the main reasons why i sold my MPC Live. To those who don't do finger drumming (the ones who keep their pads at a fixed sound level) or are programming their beats mainly with the step sequencer instead of actually playing them, it doesn't matter. (i know i said it before but) i got spoiled by the touch sensitivity on Maschine's controllers. So if Korg's Padkontrol was more sensitive than that.. i'm curious.. just because hahaha

I still own an Akai mpd32. I got it at guitar center it was a floor model or used. Got it for a good price... no case/software. I hardly use it but, I really like the features, way better than mpk25 which I also own.

I have a mpd 18 and MPK mini mk3 and I have used them all and I have m-audio axiom 25 . Pretty much all the flexibility I need. Maybe I will get an Axiom 61. But I am still going to use those controllers.

There was one for sale locally for cheap, I was curious about it. I already have a Boss SP505 I really like though, so I passed on the Korg. A fave piece of gear is the Korg Micro X though.

i bought 2 ......1 for parts and 1 brand new...whats different about padkontrol its miro tunable and beat repeat can be assigned per pad instead all pads and velocity. Why mpc x does not allow beat repeat per pad i dont know but they should do what korg did and learn.btw you can edit quicker on the unit than the editor this why this device will last another 10 years that and the dc port

It's been stashed away in my closet for years now. Excellent pad controller but a bit too complicated for this boomer. A couple of my buddies could make it do what it do though.

Never heard of this device, not gonna buy this device, but I'm damn sure going to watch this entire video to find out what had happened was...

Recommendation: play this at 1.5x. You lose nothing and gain some time back. Also, the Korg USB Midi driver messes up how Korg products are seen by Windows. It's a pita to get any of my Korg USB stuff to work without fighting with the drivers to get them on page one.

I feel like I haven't seen enough people going to the korg electribe sampler. Its got some great features for an awesome price but yet I havent heard too much from it.

I remember trading a late 80's Cadillac Cimmaron I mean CleeeeaN for a computer from a buddy of mine that found out I had an interest in computer-generated music and he needed a whip so he swapped but his Player hating as a partner in his computer business locked up on the actual disc so the install especially back in like 92 was useless and he would get up off it cause he didn't know nothing about it and was not about to let no noncomputer guys in the game if he could help it LOL what a D!C#HeaD he was...
