This synth had the coolest XY mod wheel of all time. I had a Z1 with a XY pad which was also very cool. Both were the best VA synths korg ever put out. Nice demo. Thanks.
For those who are coming from Deadmau5 Master Class: The sound at 8:15 we can listen it on Prodigy's Firestarter at 2:39. (Open up Prodigy - Firestarter and then go to 2:39)
I was a teen when this came out and it very quickly was discontinued after release. It's not evident to clearly young people here but the sound style of this synth actually wasn't popular/marketable ENOUGH at the time.
Came out at £999 UK but was down to about £500 after a year or so which is when I took the plunge and bought one; still have it. Things go in cycles, down to about £200 now, as time goes on the money value of these will rise again.
When this first came out I wanted it so bad and I think I was in my late teens early 20’s and it seemed so expensive for monophonic , I ended up passing in this but ended up with an AN1X , which I still own , but a small part of me still wishes I had one of these little synths
@8:38 😍 i saw a review of one by AudioPlz and decided to order a second hand one (almost mint coming from Japan) and this is also so inspiring...it's such an underrated sleeper ...but that power and range and it's just totally 90s 😳😳😳
merci, toi qui m'a fait acheté le D50 y a quelque mois et qui est un régal, super cette démo, ça me permet d'entendre que les sons sont quasi identiques aux XL=> pas de nouvel achat prévu, A+ et "que vivre le son ""
he had/has a korg Z1 too. the video for that one is quite nice. made me want to get one and i did. he also made me a believer in the alesis ion and esq-1
I bought my Prophecy off a friend a few years ago and i certainly haven't found most of the sounds on here on mine, in fact there are some pretty pointless patches to be honest. I expect you've done quite a bit of programming to get these sounds, which i must admit are pretty lush. Maybe i need to spand more time progamming mine, it can be quite laborious as it's not exactly as hands on as some of the other synths i have.
@weatherkop It's okay, i think this gives more of an idea of the basic synth itself whereas Jexus' vid mostly just confirms his patch programming tendencies. love the tape mod thingy... I let one slip between my fingers for real cheap thinking: oh I'll just wait for my paycheck... still biting my fingers
This is a gread synth demo, a lot better than most and shows off the Prophecy quite well. So I wonder how this compares to the Korg R3 and other like synths?
samueladams7 The R3 is much more straightforward to program (via its desktop editor via usb) but the prophecy has more flavour/personality and a better deck of expression controllers
Pretty decent...not sure if I would say amazing. The design throws me off though. I wouldn't want it in my studio....especially with my pretty Supernova in here.
@skillzflux my drunken comment, i take it back. everybody's got their own way. even though jexus made his own patches and tweaks the shit out of them, this vid shows more genres and patches albeit factory ones. I guess thats what I was trying to say.
One of the ugliest keyboards I've seen. But for being an analog emulation (digital) synth sounds very good. This is the monophonic brother of the Z1. Both have a very similar tone.
