The Korg Triton has been my basic instrument of choice from 2006 to 2016, 90% of my music is made with it, I still have it and I will always love it. Other synths may be younger and prettier, but they can only be my girlfriends. The Triton is my wife.. I still remember an ad in magazines, back when it was first released that read "it sounds like all other synths will sound in about 10 years.." Now it's been 20 years from then and other synths still try to come close to sounding like it.
These keyboards are legendary. I traded away a 61-key Triton LE about 6 years ago and mostly regretted it ever since. I finally replaced it with the 88-key LE about a month ago and I cannot stop playing with it. It has so many good sounds, and so much functionality. I am sure plenty other keyboards have the same features but you can get these used for a fraction of the cost and it still sounds great by today's standards.
@@hinevermind2688 The LE its the triton after the classic but beaware sum features on the classic arent on the Le like touchscreen a sequncer and the floppy diskdrive
that Goliath preset (2:00) reminded me of the music in A Clockwork Orange, heard during both the intro scene during the zoom in to the guys in the milk bar and also the scene where the scientists show the effects of the drug on a criminal. Its a very ominous sound. I love it!
My first keyboard was a Korg 01W in 1992. I had that until 2004 when it was dying and needed a replacement. I have the Korg Triton Extreme now. Quite honestly, I still find fantastic sounds in it today. I use more VSTs now, but this keyboard is phenomenal for creating backgrounds, moods, and accompaniments. I will never have a studio without a synth, they are just too much fun! Nice work on the keys!
Shoot, even the old M1 even though it’s a little dated has better sounds than most modern synths-but that’s mostly because they worked so hard on the base wave samples that went into the final patches. Even the dang iM1 still sounds good. Korg has quietly and consistently been a synth giant for decades.
Beautiful demo ... have one sitting as the main synth keyboard in one studio triggering so many multiple E-MU, Novation, Korg and Studio Electronics racks that I had forgotten what a great bunch of sounds it had all by its lonesome. Very reliable keyboard as well after all these decades! Thanks for a great demo!
I see everyone saying "those sounds are great" but don't see comments about the skill it takes to make these sounds sound the way they are on this video. I like what the musician is doing with the chords, makes it sound as good as they can.
@@artemis9012 i mean yea if you played a bunch of random notes it would sound worse, the actual samples sound good which are shown more so by good playing.
They both have their benefits. I have a couple of analog synths with a cold, harsh, metallic character (Minilogue and Volca Modular, Monotron Delay) as well as some equally cold-sounding digital synths (Volca FM, Novation Circuit) and, while I would like a warmer analog synth to balance out the sound of my setup, I couldn't resist ordering a Wavestation EX when I found one for $250. Tried getting an Ensoniq ESQ-1 for about the same price, but the auction went so fast at the end I kinda messed up and lost it. I fell in love with that synth, and ironically it has the warm sound I'm looking for, yet it's a digital/analog hybrid. To tl;dr my rambling, I agree with you to an extent, but I also believe there are good reasons to love analog synths.
I've read from a few people online that "the Triton sounds dated", but I'd still use it today in my music because I still think it sounds out of this world. The 'Planet Pad' 9:17 patch is beautiful and they've even included it in the Krome Workstation.
Great sounds! Korg Triton was really great workstation. Thanks to Korg Inc. to made and release the software Triton =) Thank you for this cool performances and programs choice.
To add to my other info and give a better idea of a WS. I love playing classical, so my personal favorite uses of the triton is being able to layer various sounds set to different sensitivity levels. So I have piano set, but then I also have strings on top of that which only play if I press the keys slightly harder. I have a 3rd which is brass ensemble that is set to an even higher sensitivity. You can later route each individual sound that makes up one combi to different speakers. A great thing
Keyboard = think store bought basic. Very simplistic with lots of sounds to choose from. Synth = Keyboard with the addition of being able to modify and create your own sounds, and in some cases drum kits. Workstation = All the above with much more available for creating sounds. Workstations also have the added ability to create songs without the need for a separate sequencer which is what's used to record one track, then play it back and record another, and so on. The Triton is my fav by far.
bought a triton studio back in 2002.....kitted it out with all the good boards and moss board......still sounds better than me kronos....and a lot easier to use too🤗
I loved the Triton, was a dream to use, but i sold on to upgrade to the yamaha motif xs, then onto the M3.. big mistake.. Karma 2, while its amazing sounding , is way too complicated and a pain to program.. i had tech overload and spent to much time messing around with the M3 instead of making music
I have this keyboard for about 10 years now. I didn't like the Piano tones at all in this keyboard, unless you buy some expansion slots. What I like in this keyboard is the sounds of Pads, synths, Bass, Kits, hits and the sequencer edit feature.
Hello, can you help me? :) Awesome Demo btw of the Triton i was thinking of buying my first Korg, but i can't choose which one should i get. my Choices are, The Korg Triton Pro X 88, The Korg Triton Extreme 88 or The Korg Krome EX61 which one should i get?
Hey, can you post the steps I need to put my Triton LE back into multi mode so that I can get back to using it with digital Performer as a master controller to in=put midi data? You see I moved and had to disconnect it and the LE doesn't save that kind of stuff. Thanks and I can sure use some help here.
korg Tritons were the best keyboard synths ever created. The warm and rich sound blows away all the digital and cheap sounding software synths of today.
Have you ever tried any 3rd party patches? Tritonheaven has many free patches (1,000+). I have a Kronos X 88, but I still love my Triton Pro X. The custom patches I installed have virtually transformed my Triton into a whole, new keyboard. I really love pads, motion pads, evolving pads, soft synths, etc. The "Rose" series of patches is comprised mostly of those type of sounds. You (or any Troton owner) should check it out.
@@rgh97 Tritonheaven is gone. 😢 Fortunately, Korg forums is still up and has all the sounds that Tritonheaven had. www.korgforums.com Just go in the downloads section and then into the "Triton (Classic) & Rack" section & download anything with "MOSS".
Landed on this video looking for a demo of a Triton seen on sale... awesome sounds. Already have two keyboards: one Roland Juno Gi and one Kurzweil K2000; would I need another one? ;-)
I bought my Triton pro, the same time I bought my Yamaha S80( the S80 sounds were far above my triton's sounds) . I no longer own my Yamaha S80, but I still have my Triton pro, even with 2 expansions boards, I am not crazy about the sounds/ w the exception of a few . Back then, the Korg Triton was a desert Island synth/workstation, now, there are a shit load of synths, that do the same, if not better ! I do love my touchscreen though, Yamaha & Kurzweil need to get into that technology . I was doing some research, so Yamaha might unleash a new synth/workstation called ( The Yamaha Montage), they have a registration#, but I cant guarantee it . Rumor has it, that it is supposed to have touchscreen, & compete with Korg's Kronos 2 . B4 I buy my next workstation, I'm going to wait til after the Namm show ,but I will be buying the Hammond SK3C b4 next Summer regardless .
I have a Korg Triton Pro-X (88 key) with OS 2.5 on it (the latest one as far as I know) but I am unable to find "Pad & ShakuLead", DanceSynthSplit", and "Planet Pad", that were featured in the video on my keyboard, does anyone know what the preset numbers are for them?
Did you know that you don't have to buy the physical Triton Hardware Keyboard to get these fantastic sounds? Great selections of Triton sounds are now available via iOS Korg Module app compatible to midi keyboards. Give it a try! & Enjoy! ^^
the iphone / ipad CANNOT reproduce all transients and harmonics from the real TRITON. its close in sound but less warm. i have both. (because of the vacuum tube VALVE FORCE, mainly)
The depreciation on keyboards is huge. Probably more than any other musical instrument. I still have my fully working Korg 01w/fed from 1992. I also have the triton pro. Can't afford latest though.
Yup! 01W-fd still works fine...what an instrument..even these days! My love for my X-50 is enormous. Always understood, the X-50, with it's ultra warm and tender voice, is a derivative of the Triton. The power of every KORG is warmth, feeling, expression.
Mainly because keyboards like this are technically computers in functionality. Who uses scsi anymore or floppy drives when its all moved to usb. Still sounds great though
