watching this I come to the conclusion that Volca drum is the understatement of the century , the variety of sound is astonishing , thanks for the video

There are honestly so many possibilities with this little drum machine. I especially love that it is also capable of producing pitched/melodic sounds in addition to percussion sounds. This makes the Volca Drum a ton of fun to perform with as a standalone groove machine. 👍 Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the video. Please let me know what you think. Would you guys care to see more synth demos in this style? Feedback is appreciate. 🙂

Where do you get these tonal sounds from my man?! Love the machine, but never got so many non-percusive sounds out of it.

I have this because I like having my drums sound completely unique, the way u use it in this video shows the insane potential it has, I almost still cant believe my ears when I hear certain people using it to make things better than even me, it's so good it's better than even model cycles for certain things Volca drum is very good at

The Drum was my first ever synth (then bought the Keys based on your "3 reasons why I love the" video 🙂) Even after 4 months of daily use, it makes noises that surprise me, I love it 😁

I really like your kits and jams here. I've had a lot of fun with my Volca Drum. Anyone who likes unique forms of synthesis should look at this instrument. It takes an entirely unique approach to sound shaping, which means unique sounds. The results often sound "physical," like striking a hollow object or plucking a string. Also great for BIG kick sounds! I would absolutely like to see more of this instrument in your hands!

Thank you! 😁 Yes, I agree! This is one unique little Volca. I absolutely love how complex it is... but at the same time, very easy to program. So much fun to be had all on its own... pair it with some other gear... and the fun never ends. 👍 Thanks, for watching. 🙌

I really love this! The jams where you tune the individual sounds and don’t use traditional drum kit sounds really inspire me. I’m trying to use the Volca Drum in a different way for non-techno/house.

I could'nt help myself, I bought one and I have to say it is so much FUN and even though the sounds on their own are not that good, the way they combine is special. I've owned many drum machines over the years but the Korg Volca Drum is my favorite drum machine so far. It is one of those rare bits of kit that sound good no matter what you do with the knobs. (I've owned all these machines; Boss Dr55, Boss Dr110, Boss Dr550, Roland R5, Roland R8, Roland CR1000, Roland Tr505, Roland Tr808, Casio Rz1, Yamaha SU10, Korg Electribe, Korg Electribe Sampler, Korg Electribe Sampler 2, Beatmaker 3).

You put my skills with the Drum to shame. I do love it though. It’s percussions swing together really well but I also sometimes think of it as a programmable bank of 6 one-shot “samples” (patches in this case). Glad to see what it can do with a little more attention.

Great demo! Any thoughts on Volca Drum vs LXR-02 (aside from price)? Both very capable digital drum synths, but which has more sound design possibilities? Vdrum has resonator, LXR-02 kit morphing... appreciate your insights!

Interesting. What is it that you dont like about it? 🤔 As far as the vDrum goes, I wouldnt say that it is a "step down" at all. They are 2 completely different machines, with their own unique sounds and workflow. I absolutely love my Volca Drum... in fact, it's one of my favorite Volcas. 😁 In my opinion, it is extremely versatile and powerful considering the price and size. It's totally worth checking out.👍

If you were going to have either this or volca sample as an only drum machine ........?
@littleBIGsynths
@littleBIGsynths 3 года назад
Oh, man... if I had to absolutely choose one... I would definitely go with the Volca Drum! I personally love the powerful sound design capabilities, but if your looking for more of a straight forward "drum machone", then Volca sample might be the better choice. 2 completely different animals for sure with very different workflows and each with their own set of pros and cons of course. 🤔 Kind of a tough one. Lol
@TheXxjmpxxx
@TheXxjmpxxx 3 года назад
Do these "drums" actually produce notes? Where am I hearing the melody come from?
@littleBIGsynths
@littleBIGsynths 3 года назад
Yes! The vDrum is capable of producing tones that can be adjusted and even quantized to a specific pitch. 👍 So you can get some pretty simple melodies going with a little bit of tweaking. Just one of the many things that makes the vDrum so special 🙂

I’m looking for a budget drum machine. Would folks recommend this or the Volca Beats?
@littleBIGsynths
@littleBIGsynths 4 года назад
The vBeats is a bit more of a straightforward drum machine ... whereas the Volca Drum is much more versatile and feature rich. I honestly like the vBeats and wouldnt mind owning one again. Aside from its weak snare drum, it's a nice, pure analog drum machine. If you can find a used/second hand vBeats for a good price... it might be worth picking up. You should also consider the Korg Volca Sample. It's a sample based unit, but is totally capable of beaing a good drum machine. I have used the Volca Sample as my main "drum machine" for quite awhile. Good luck on your gear hunt! 🙂👍 Thanks for watching.

Is it just me, or does RU-vid really screw up the audio? I watch these Volca videos and there is always some aspect of the sound that is like nails on a chalkboard. My own Volcas don't sound like that in real life. It's always in the upper mids on up through the high frequency range. Maybe some post EQ to those frequencies before downloading would make a difference? I don't know, it's just something I've noticed over time.
@littleBIGsynths
@littleBIGsynths 4 года назад
I am pretty sure RU-vid does affect the sound a bit, but not exactly sure how/why. Are you listening through speakers? Headphones? I typically do post production stuff with the sound, but for this video, I wanted a dry, direct audio signal. The Volca Drum does cover a lot of frequencies and harmonics that can easily get out of hand, so I tried my best to keep it as tame as possible. Would you happen to have a specific point in the video that was most unpleasant? I really appreciate the feedback. 🙂👍Thanks.
