Good series about a really flexible, unusually affordable instrument. Thanks for being concise while pack in plenty of information. It’s not an easy balance to achieve.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Aiden Bryson thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I thought this is the coolest volca in the series. This is sort of a poor man's buchla.! , I'd like to buy one, have it ripped apart by a knowledgeable technician & modded with some ideas.
Thank you for doing these series so well. It seems a lot at first, but with the volca modular on hands its a lot of fun to go through and experiment after. Went through manual first and this cleared some information more. Now Im on to your "Patch of the week" series next. Great fun synth and amazing combo with Volca Drum.
any other corona modular beginners here?!?!!? hahahahahahaha just ordered myself a bunch or volcas to **** around during those freaky times. happy bleeping and blooping!!!
Damn, waiting for this to finally hit my local music store will feel much too long. Well done, Korg. Modulatable clock was something I had been thinking about and wishing for just yesterday, and here you are...
I cannot wait to get my hands on this. The Volcas are just so much fun. The only thing about the Modular is that I haven't seen any demos that show how low it can go. Although your video has come the closest; like I can actually hear some low and and bass in it. What's the lowest the oscillator can go on this thing?
This is typical of CV modular synths. If you have a CV out controller, like an Arturia Keystep, you can play the Volca Modular through it and use it as a MIDI to CV converter. Also lots of MIDI to CV converters are available for pretty cheap.
Forsure, as long as you have a 3.5 trs to rca cable. Plug the 3.5 end into the headphone output of the volca into the RCA input of the SP404. Or if you want to add some EQ or something before sampling it directly, plug the volca into the mixer and then the output of the mixer into the input of the SP
Korg have come up trumps again.....they keep doing interesting stuff.....I thought this and the new IOS Monopoly interface was so whacky......and the Gadget Switch thing.......they are really original. I always liked Korg DSN12 on the 3ds. Who else was doing something like that at the time....and it sounded PHAT. I'd like to see them bring out something for Android. It needs some good music apps. How about a modular synth with a good step sequencer for Android Korg.......come on I know you can do your magic!
I think the sequencer on the Modular is the best sequencer in the Korg line-up period! If you would update the lovely SQ-1 with those features, I'd buy, haha (especially the microtonal stuff and 16 save slots)
Korg: very useful video, but the term used at c. 4:27 is wrong/could mislead viewers with respect understanding the terms used (and their future usage of those terms). Your narrator comments on 'polyrhythmic' and 'atypically rhythmic', which is incorrect. Polyrhythms would be the likes of quaver triplets against standard quavers , and as such, would require at least two simultaneously-running sequencer lines. What is being changed is the meter length of the sequence i.e changing from a length of, say, 16 steps, to a length of anything less than 16 (i.e a 7-step sequence). This is neither polyrhythm nor 'atypical rhythm' (which as a term has no firm theoretical basis), but rather, as stated, is simply a change/alteration of meter length. PS congratulations on a great product.
Jaboom Blue It has an internal speaker which is rather tiny and crappy sounding, it sounds better via the headphone/line out. All of the volcano series employ the same setup.
This is a small modular synthesizer , based on the technics of what's called "west coast style synthesis". this actual synth is kind of made to mimic the style, sound & even look to a very famous ,very expensive west coast synth from the 1970's (the "buchla music easel" appx. $5k- $6k ! You can look it up & make some comparisons ( ok, I'm sure this aint a buchla, but this is definitely west coast style & should well satisfy you if that's the type of sounds that you're into. This volca costs only $199 which is appx. 1/25 of the price of a actual buchla music easel. About this synth itself, yes the sounds are coming from the synth itself, which you can program patterns in the sequencer to play melodies & such. Once you want to dive in deeper into the synthesis aspect, you can plug the mini patch cable's from section to section to do advanced things to the audio signal. Some examples are having the timbre or harmonics of the sound change over time automatically, Have the brightness change(as opposed to east coast synthesis where you start with a rich harmonic sound wave & use a "filter" aka vcf to remove frequencies.) West coast synthesis is typically a little more complicated & usually more expensive to buy. This korg certainly seems to be 1 of the cheapest if not "the cheapest" west coast style synth on the market. If you're into synths, do a little research on east coast/ west coast synthesis. Typically "moog" is the east coast pioneer & Buchla is the west coast pioneer. I'm sure you can learn a bunch of information even spending an hour reading about it. Synthesis can be a very expensive hobby if you let it. But the creation of sounds can be so cool too. I actually like & appreciate the fact that some products like this little korg synth is inexpensive enough yet offers cool sound sculpting features that can be used to add interest to your music.
And where would this be useful to produce this type of rather randomly generated music? I like the results and find the concept and technical aspects very interesting but I don't understand where I would hear these types of sounds unless it is just a cult or obscure genre.
@@jumpingeezus5080 I like orchestral, church choral, big band, organ, piano, film themes, golden oldies, 80s pop, electronic and synth, but also making up my own! I saw ABC (Martin Fry) in concert last week with a full orchestra conducted by Anne Dudley! NOW, that is class ...
Sorta helpful.. but god damn, i never want to hear that term "fired off" as long as I live... pfft.. fired off.. lol. Nothing is being 'fired' anywhere. Its just an electrical signal.
Stop making these things and start making the gadgets from the Gadget mobile app as real world physical devices and sell them for $49 bucks and Korg will take over the world finally!! I have spoken!
