Alexander Santiago was described as shy and introverted by several people. He didn't have his mother's fortitude. I got the impression that Miriam was pretty lenient with her children because she didn't like how she was raised by a perfectionist mother who demanded that they all excel in every single thing they did. I remember an interview where Miriam said she always told her husband (who was the disciplinarian according to her) to let their children be because was there anything more important than being happy? She said that that was the one thing to aspire to--not to be successful, but to be happy.

I think miriam mentioned this kind of her concept of beliefs because of too much grief and loss of hopes. let's admit it, we sometimes came to that point of our lives in which 'kasalanan lahat ng diyos' at 'walang diyos' ang iniisip. But when miriam realized that after her son's death, God still saved her for a lot of times and still showed her love pagkatapos niyang ideny ang Diyos, she turned her beliefs... Our society is not yet that open minded to accept atheism, the fact that some people in our community thought atheism can lead to decrease of morale, but it's sad for me to see that some people(really) make their religion as the foundation of their morality. It's flawed and pathetically inconsistent; I'm looking forward to a community where science is treated as a fact and not just an opinion.
This woman is funny, smart and forthright with her opinions. She hold no punches and speaks her mind out. I believe that she is the person the country needs as its leader. She is not a politician. She is a woman with conviction and she stand by her words. Her honesty in this interview is very refreshing and she is the kind of a leader that will achieve great things for the country.
So what if she is an atheist? To extreme and 'edgy' for many people perhaps? A person is not any less worthy by basis of her beliefs, which is agreed upon by the fact that the Philippine government is secular and does not recognize an official state religion.

I have two masters degree in Christian Theology...and I can say this woman has a mature faith, though many would judge her as sounding like an atheist. Her insights about life, faith and morality are amazing. I respect her.

I am Agnostic. I believe I am here in this world to pursue my own life's happiness and that I should pursue it not at the expense of other people's own happiness. To live life to the fullest while being mindful of not trampling into other people's beliefs. If you choose to believe in a deity (or not) in order for you to do the same, then so be it. It's your own choice of personal enlightenment after all. So as long as its for the betterment of mankind then why should I contest?

I admit that I am amazed by Miriam's intellect, And I do adore her knowledge and wisdom, I actually want her to be a president, but for this one, I will disagree. Because I do believe in God and I am very thankful that I exist because of him. (No matter what religion you are in or even if you don't have a religion, there is always someone or something to be thankful for. You can thank the universe for all sorts of things that you have right now.)

I know a lot of people with defects still love God and they are not questioning God's plan for them at all because they trust and love GOD.
