I’m really learning A lot about Gambia from this program to be honest.. I was born there but I don’t know that much about Gambia which is a shame..🤭😢😭😭
Why Africa's 'smiling coast' is officially referred to as 'The' Gambia The Gambia is the official name of the smallest West African country. Yes, there is the need to put a definite article ‘The’in front of Gambia. Gambia - referred to as the smiling coast of Africa - shares that ‘pleasure’ with ‘The Bahamas.’ An English language expert, David Crystal explained why ‘The Gambia’ is ‘The Gambia.’ In an interview with the BBC, Crystal disclosed that two reasons came to play in arriving at that official position. The Portuguese who first explored the country named it after the river known as ‘The River Gambia.’ The Portuguese thus named it ‘The Gambia.’ [In Portuguese A Gâmbia] So when Britain took over, they maintained that name. A year to the attainment of independence in 1964, the then Prime Minister officially sought the consent of the Permanent Committee on geographical names based in the UK to keep the official title of ‘The Gambia.’ The reason was because of Zambia, The Gambia didn’t want to be confused with their Southern African brothers, Zambia seeing that only the first alphabets in their names are different. The Commission which looks after naming of geographical locations in the world accented to the request.
WE GOT THE NAME THE GAMBIA DUE TO THE LOSS OF LETTERS DURING THE COLONIAL DAYS TO ZAMBIA. IT WAS SIMILAR TO ZAMBIA AND MOST OF OUR LETTERS DID GO TO ZAMBIA SO DUE TO THIS WE WHERE TAGGED WITH THE (THE).. THATS HOW WE GOT THE GAMBIA AS OUR FULL NAME... KORKA IS WRONG FOR THE FIRST TIME
I always see Korka's Talk and don't take it seriously. Today I learn how serious but this is. The regular Gambians do not even have a clue about the country. How on earth are we ever going to develop? These are simple little things that is going to help us develop. People should know no politicians can develop country. It does not matter what they say. It is the regular people on the streets who are going to develop the country. The calamity is the street don't have a clue. A human being have to be conscious of yourself, your community, country and the world you are living in. This is a complete disaster. Keep up the good work bro. This is major self assessment of national consciousness.
Bro I need you answer your question in comments if you're ready your program please because are many people didn't know your question please 🙏🙏 we need know your question.
The 2017 election saw each of the National Assembly's 53 directly-elected constituencies return one NAM, as well as each of the five nominated NAMs being appointed by the President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow. It resulted in an UDP majority of 14 (including nominated members), with 22 opposition NAMs in total.

Gambia is called the Gambia simple there was a confusion between Gambia and Zambia, in matters of mailing services, I'm not very certain because this was what I heard.
Chaii... so many people got the questions wrong! But Korka the first question was kind of confusing. To some people because of the way your worded it. In my opinion but the last guy is really smart
The Gambia is the official name of the smallest West African country. ... The Portuguese who first explored the country named it after the river known as 'The River Gambia. ' The Portuguese thus named it 'The Gambia. ' [In Portuguese A Gâmbia] So when Britain took over, they maintained that name.
It’s the river Gambia! the name The Gambia. Following the proclamation of a republic in 1970, the long-form name of the country became Republic of The Gambia
The meaning of the Gambia means because Zambia and Gambia is the same so during the pre colonial time the British find it difficult to recognize the but countries names so they decide to called the country the Gambia
Etymology. The name "Gambia" is derived from the Mandinka term Kambra/Kambaa, meaning Gambiariver. ... Upon independence in 1965, the country used the name TheGambia. Following the proclamation of a republic in 1970, the long-form name of the country became Republic of TheGambia.😂😂
By collecting data on this program we can virtually conclude that 60% of these audiences are high school graduate and 5% are university students, 15% are dropped out, 20% are illiterate all of these audience fail to respond these questions truly, these indicate that our education system needs to be monitored however teachers, MOBSE and the government should came up with a policy to solve this problem.
THATS TRUE BRO WE NEED TO REFORM OUR EDUCATION SECTOR AND BRING BACK OUR OWN HISTORY WITHIN THE SYLLABUS,.. IT IS VERY SAD THAT WE LEARN AND FORGET OR OUR TEACHERS RECENTLY ARE NOT VERY WELL EDUCATED
Mr. Korka QTV in the streets, i was going to give another answer to the Question --- Why THE GAMBIA, and it goes like this --- That during the early days before Independence and you happened to be out side The Gambia and you sent a letter by post, it will be taken to ZAMBIA instead because of similarities in name. This was why the word THE was added to GAMBIA thus THE GAMBIA came about in order to differentiate it from ZAMBIA in the East of Africa. Anyway that was not the right answer to the question --why THE GAMBIA. Thanks.
Well we should not blame the people though cuz I have seen other countries do the same show but they ask funny question not tough questions like korka does.......
