Damn, the shovel kill is censored. ngl it looked funny in the uncensored version but the ridiculousness is what makes it so good. Korone would've loved it.
Reminds me of when they censored Xenosaga 3 by removing the blood so it didn't make sense when young Shion said "I need to put them (blood) back or else she'll die." while looking at her clean hands.
That's fascinating. I guess I'd have to check to see if this game was contracted out by Capcom, but how funny would it be if Japanese devs went primal on the gore, only to censor it all out for their home audience. XD
@@Mecks089 I'm not sure if there's much of a consensus at all in the US. The big studios plugged into infinite financing are definitely on a crusade against anything attractive. But there's no legal ban on sexy characters, and smaller devs still have fun with this. In terms of music, we have gratuitous and vulgar chanting about genitals like in "WAP." And any kind of butt-shaking or hip-swaying from south of the Equator is treated like something to celebrate. All this is a sort of sexuality or sex appeal, even though it's gross and miserable to me... Seems more accurate that the US doesn't tolerate female nudity. But apparently in Japan your videogame can be banned by the government itself, if it features decapitation, dismemberment, or body cavities.
So apparently there are 3 versions of RE7. 1) Biohazard 7, a heavily censored and recolored-blood version. 2) Biohazard 7: Grotesque Edition, which has simple dismemberment and red blood. [This version was cancelled because it was determined the Japanese Gov censor board intended to ban it]. 3) Resident Evil 7: World-Wide Release, which has every grisly detail that Capcom choreographed and modeled.
The scene when a cops head scooped is much more graphic in english or US version which doesn't make sense why bloodier scenes edited out every JP versions of games.
Not sure either, but I guess difference in culture. And difference in priorities when it comes to censoring. Perhaps Japan is censoring excessive violence and gore the same way English/global release of games censors sexy stuff.
