It starts with a hidden text log about a worker that was relegated to only work on firmware updates for the coffee machines and was understandably pissed knowing they were trying to get them to quit lol
Not to steal the spotlight from mommy, but Kale is actually one of the funniest villains I've ever seen. Roger Craig Smith (Ezio, Sonic, etc) knocked it out of the park.
Honestly, I wouldn't have put it together this was Nia's VA if you hadn't mentioned it. Then again, I was in no position to give her a fair listen when she was in Xenobrit Chronicles. (being bombarded by non-american accents did a number on me, ngl)
"This game feels like it belongs on the gamecube in the best way possible" - Scott Falco That echos my sentiments about this game. It just oozes that clover studio style without being a clover studio game.
That they didn't try to exaggerate it makes it even hotter. It's just natural fluid movement of her body as she stalks her prey like an angry redheaded predator.
Only thing I don’t like is the legs crossing over, a real fighter never moves like that in front of an opponent because you’re off balance when your feet are closest together
when i read the email tablet that talked of the robot rebelling agains the company for being replaced by reprogramming all the coffee machines to make only decaf being actually mentioned in the story itself made me laugh my ass off. it was too good.
Finished it and its absolutely fantastic.. Great humor, gameplay and soundtrack. A new fresh original game that does something actually new made by a triple A studio??? Gues miracles do still exist. Here's hoping they continue with this kind of innovation.
@@robbieaulia6462 Ok, so basically there's somewhere where you can find a memo from a robot that basically says that they're annoyed with work or something and that they're going to make it so that the coffee machine has a firmware update that only gives out decaf. After, there are two big references to this, one being this voiceline right here, and the other being Kale in Chapter 11. It's the best saga in the game and no one can say otherwise.
@@LifeOfBrother5000 Not to forget the post credit scene with Korisca drinking coffee and the spot where she puts the cup on saying "System runs on decaf"
I like how when she finally gets robotic enhancements, they are on top of her arms instead of replacing them (and a lot of internal stuff probably) Meaning that they’re just there to support what she already has like an EXO suit which makes sense because the reason she got them was because she was injured
3:16 First of all the firmware update joke is great because I entirely believe that would be a thing. And it's also great pay off to another joke hidden in the collectibles. You can Find a note about a roboto or employee who for revenge against the they were treated made it the coffee machines only put out decaf
2:50 Something fun here. Cutscenes don't take place in, say, a pre-rendered location that looks like the current area - it's special camera angles, animations, and character models being placed onto the current setting. This is relevant bc in Track 6, if you're fast enough, you can get to the L.I.F.T. while Korsica's speaking, and you can actually see the monitors with her profile in the back of the hallway at the cutscene's start - as well as their return to a default blue logo when she stops talking. In certain cutscenes, you can summon someone right before it starts, and their animations will play while Chai does his whatever
The dialogue in this makes me laugh every time cause the only one who acts like a video game game character is chai while everyone else acts like actual people
3:22 Okay, this sounds goofy right now, but I swear in the next 2yrs coffee machines will need firmware updates to prevent them from being a backdoor access via the IOT.
To everyone who watches this in the future I hope that this comment doesn't get buried Chai mentioning meeting his favorite band and them totally blowing him off basically it is him in his own way saying don't meet your heroes which goes to show that even though he's a slacker and doesn't have any normal job experience he does understand some of the fundamental life lessons that people don't always understand for the most part
I know this might just sound like "following hype" but I'm totally down if HiFi Rush made a show. The 2D parts looked good imo just from that. Though I can be getting ahead of myself
@@gabrielshields198 yeah nowadays, there's been a good handful of game shows(not necessarily just video games, things like D&D has Vox Machina). Arcane(LoL), Cyberpunk, Cuphead, etc so there's bound for more to pop up later on
I don't think I've ever heard a line in a video game delivered with such conviction and believability than "Why's the coffee machine need a firmware update?!"
Of *course* I focus on the boys and their stellar voicework instead of the Scottish waifu the video is centered around & the third I've seen the Internet do flips over. 9:48 is *such* a Sonic interaction, but Sonic's the one in the evil Eggman mech and the wise-cracking goofball facing him off is Mr. Detective Prince himself Goro Akechi. Major kudos to the voice director for getting this cool as hell role reversal from Roger Craig Smith & Robbie Daymond. A. If RCS considers retiring from Sonic again, we might have a solid successor on our hands (next to a potential Ben Schwartz if Movie & Game Sonic were to become one entity). B. If RCS could do this good in a villain role, Sega could've saved money & pulled a Persona 4 by having him voice *both* Sonic & Shadow. Would've flexed the villain bone RCS has *and* leaned more into the clone aspect of Shadow's character. Maybe send the idea back down the timeline and have Ryan Drummond voice both in SA2 to set up for the future.
Now that I'm aware I can definitely hear Pancakes in there, but Chai sometimes gets really close to being Sora/Vanitus (both voiced by Haley Joel Osment, so different guy).
This game is like one of those Ps2 era games that you fondly remember in a good way. It's so godamn good as a game and the fucking ending is so satisfying, it's like the final episode of a beloved cartoon show that ran for just one season but that season was so good that you felt terrible when it ends.
@@Random-Legend if you think Nia has a Scottish accent, then no wonder you've "never heard a character have a Welsh accent". Anyway, check out Ranni, Blaidd, Iji and the other Liurnia-related NPCs from Elden Ring, Mio from Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Drippy from Ni No Kuni, the crones of crookback bog from Witcher 3, Welsh from Red Dead Redemption, Sabine from Fable 3, or Edward Kenway from AC:Blackflag as someone else has mentioned already.
The voice actress is American, she’s only affecting a Scottish accent so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s slipping or going into other accents. It sounds solid to me outside of a couple of lines IMO.
the way i see it from the viewer's perspective i'd be like "HOLY SHIT TWO CAKES", but from the creator's perspective, yeah i feel you lmao (in fact, most of mine are probably ripped from games that i have already heard of and my brain decided to cut connection between the idea and the source and treated it like i just came up with it) edit: now that i think about it, this entire reply is just retelling that "two cakes" meme i mentioned above
