Tourism is the main industry in Kos, the island's beaches being the primary attraction. Remains of ancient buildings were discovered in the city, including: acropolis, stadium, theater, column porticos, temple of Aphrodite (2nd century BC), Roman odeon and baths, several old Christian basilicas (4th-5th century); museum, hot mineral springs.
