A return trip from Guthega to the striking outcrop of Mann Bluff.
Spring 2023 #5 : Guthega - Ascent to Tate East ridge - Mann Bluff - Return.

Walking conditions : Tracks, meadows and snowshoe walking.
Notes : The views from this beautiful outcrop are superb, encompassing the southern Main range, with the high points of Mt Twynam and Mt Tate on either side. The Bluff is also perched on the divide between two valleys, those of Three rocks creek and a tributary of Pounds creek.
The placement of Gills Knobs (sometimes Gills Knob) varies according to the map read. My first knowledge had Gills as the outcrops I name from the south summit of Mann bluff, the rocks adjacent to Mt Tate. Other maps have the Knobs at the first ridge climbed to from the bridge crossing, where a cairn is placed. There are three prominent knolls in that section.
The outcrops in this area are mostly named after Geologists, but J.F. Mann was second in command of Ludwig Leichhardts' second expedition.
