It was Kosem's fate from the start to see everyone she loved die when she saved Ahmed and the empire. She made the choice to save the one she loves by sacrificing her happiness. That's why Kosem's end is sad but she accepted it because she saved the empire years ago. There would not have been the era of Ahmed and Kosem if she had not sacrificed her dream (built a family and being at the side of Ahmed). In addition were grandchildren who continued to lead the empire for several years after his death

The show doesn't show how Safiye was when she was younger/the valide sultan etc. So we can't really compare. The older Safiye is more like the older Kosem. The show hints how Safiye became cruel just like Kosem in the end.

This is what happens when you have your historical knowledge from the series 😂. Hurrem was never an important figure in history, the show is what gave her a spotlight of fame. Also kosem was powerful with or without sultan Ahmed , even when she was haseki. She had all the powerful men of the state at her side including the army as well. Hurrem was just a stay at home mom who did nothing spectacular or achieved nothing important. There's no comparison Hurrem with or without Suleiman she would never achieve what kosem achieved even if hurrem was valide sultan, she would probably just be like hafsa ayse sultan. Kosem literally dethroned 2 sultans (Mustafa the 1st and osman the 2nd ) and enthroned her son and became recent. Because she had the support of the divan and the army. Hurrem would simply NEVER BE ABLE TO DO THIS. Her "influence" was DEFINITELY NOT POPULAR among the divan or the army.

When some people in many comment sections say everyone hates Hurrem because she was a strong woman. Guys this is called a strong woman. And yes I know Hurrem paved the way and the rest. It's about both women living in different times. I'm talking about what both of them would've done if they were in each other's place. Don't confuse evil and coward with strong and honourable woman. If Hurrem had reasons to be evil because she was treated RUDELY (🤌✨🥺 )by valide , Mahi, Ibrahim, then Kosem had reasons to be evil after being tortured, losing her husband, her family, friends too.I bet if Kosem was in Hurrem's place, for the sake of empire, instead of taking revenge she would have aligned with Ibrahim, made peace with Mustafa and Mahidevran no matter what. She would've made sure to ensure her children's safety. And instead of killing everyone who didn't support her blindly She wouldve taught and trained her children to rule and become worthy for the throne. So that when the time comes not with slanders , bribery, not with showing the greed of higher positions, she and her sons would get supporters . Because of their own capabilities. She would've tried best to make peace in the family for the sake of empire. I wonder if Hurrem was in Kosem's place after mahfiruze died could she raise another woman's son like her own ?? Never. These kinds of acts actually show how big hearted someone is. I'm not hating Hurrem. Both are perfect in their own way. But Kosem was better as a human being. Then of course Kosem became too much ambitious in the end . But she truly didn't become evil. She had to kill Ibrahim because he wasn't fit to rule . Bur wasn't Hurrem ambitious and greedy from the beginning?? Is it because of family died ?? Kosem went through the same too. Kosem was even much younger than Hurrem. She was 12/13 when she entered in the harem. Don't use someone's tragic past as an excuse for them turning into a cruel , manipulative, greedy and evil person. Both Hurrem and kosem went through pain.. Hurrem became selfish and destroyed the empire and Kosem remaind to care for people and ruled the empire. This is the difference between a hero and a villain.
@Dreamfyre
@Dreamfyre 7 дней назад
This is possibly the most twisted and hypocritical take I’ve seen under MC comment. What even is this comparison? “Hurrem became evil but Kosem was a good human being”? Are you even okay? Hurrem was more of a human than Kosem ever was or could be. Hurrem stood against people that abused her and wanted her and her children dead. How could she align herself with Ibrahim when he was already allied with Mahidevran and Mustafa and positioned himself as a rival because he felt his position as Suleiman’s closest person to be threatened by her presence? Hurrem tried to make amends with Hafsa, respected her and tried her best to make Hafsa like her but Valide didn’t even want to give her a chance. If you watched the show you’d know that each person that became an enemy of Hurrem was because they made the first move and positioned themselves against her: Ibrahim, Hatice, Sah, Mustafa, Fatma, Mahidevran. With not one of them did Hurrem move against first. Hurrem wasn’t the type to start feuds, she was the type to respond to attacks with contra attacks. Also, how do you not understand that this wasn’t a negotiable situation? That it was either Hurrem and her son or her enemies. No circumstances even if they weren’t personally hostile to another would have enabled both sides to be safe and come out of this alive. The victory of one side meant the end of the other and no amount of friendly amends could change this. They were opposing sides in a war for the throne and for survival. Please did Kosem make peace with Safiye or Halime? No, she took everything from Safiye, killed Halime and her daughter and had Mustafa confined for life. But Hurrem was supposed to make peace with people who hated her guts and tried to have her destroyed since the moment she set foot in Istanbul? Who told you Hurrem waged war against them for the losses/treatment she suffered? Have you even watched the show? Her war against them was to protect herself and her children since, how could she possibly make peace with someone that wanted her dead? She fought them not because of revenge, she fought them for survival. Even her planned execution of Mustafa wasn’t for retaliation of Mehmet or payback to Mahidevran, it was to ensure her other sons didn’t meet the same fate. Hurrem seeked power because shortly after her arrival she came to the obvious realization that it was the only way she could oppose her enemies and defend herself and her children. Watch the episodes when she was only a concubine and how much she was able to protect i herself from such a low position. Moreover, it was proven multiple times that power, wealth and titles meant nothing to her without Suleiman or her children as she was ready to lay down her life for them/if she lost them. Do you see Kosem doing anything of the sort for her family? Quite the contrary in fact, she gives up on their lives for personal gain. You’re speaking of revenge, that Hurrem apparently made enemies and killed for “revenge” when that was Kosem. She acted against her enemies/people either to acquire power or to seek vengeance for her father, grandchildren or Osman. Following your logic, she should have made amends with them otherwise she was “petty”. Are you seriously speaking of greed? There was no one more greedy or power hungry than Kosem in both MC shows. She became so consumed with the idea of the throne and the empire that turned into a monster. She became so blinded with greed that she couldn’t even see her own children. She killed princes even her own son, so she could have the entire sultanate to herself. While Hurrem eliminated Mustafa to prevent her sons’ execution, Kosem send the executioners on her own kin, so she could be the sole head of the empire and possess all the power. Please stop the delusions, Kosem didn’t destroy everyone and everything in her path for the benefit of the empire, she did it because she wanted to be the only one in control. Even her own children knew this and developed resentment for her. To Hurrem it didn’t matter if the whole world stood against her and people misjudged her, her priority was preserving her children’s lives and her relationship with Suleiman even if it meant that everyone would hate her. On the other hand, Kosem’s reputation before the people and therefore her power (being promoted by their favor and support) was more important to her than her children, she was ready to sacrifice them for it. You mention Osman…yes, it was wholesome for her to adopt him but what happened next? She favored him and neglected her biological children because of him, causing strife between the brothers that Osman ended up murdering Mehmet. What good did this adoption of hers bring? The death of her firstborn. Also, while she enacted revenge for Osman’s death, her own son’s murderer she forgave and accepted Mehmet’s murderer. What kind of a mother does that? What is human about this? To seek revenge for your child’s murderer but not your child? There was nothing human or amazing in how Kosem dropped Mehmet and his death, not giving two _ while turning the earth upside down for Osman’s murder…Just stop the bias already, as Hurrem did Kosem also used intrigues, lies and schemes in the game. Human…Hurrem’s ruthlessness was focused on people that have harmed her or aimed to harm her and her family. She was always good and compassionate with people who were to her, she never failed to repay their loyalty and kindness. Underneath the merciless facade Hurrem was a good person capable of empathy. Then we have Kosem whose was ruthlessness affected anyone that stood in her way of power and the regency. So not only to enemies but to her own children. And her reasons weren’t the “greater good”, they were nothing else but personal ambitions and the desire to have monopoly of the rule. Also the “Hurrem destroyed the empire” is the most hilarious inaccurate piece of information circling around MC comment sections. During her era/Suleiman’s rule the empire was at its peak and the empire didn’t begin to decline until centuries later. Even the show’s name comes from the era of Hurrem, from Suleiman the Magnificent. Not Kosem. The “magnificent” about Kosem’s show doesn’t refer to the empire of her time but to the magnificence of Kosem’s personal path and climb from a slave to a regent. The “magnificent” in Suleiman/Hurrem’s show refers to the empire itself and Suleiman’s reign. So undoubtedly the empire was superior during Hurrem’s lifetime (not thanks to her I’m not implying that) than in Kosem’s lifetime, so how could Hurrem possibly destroy anything? Lastly, they both started as innocent victims to a cruel inhumane system. They were both naive, childlike and pure hearted at the start but changed drastically due to the life experiences. Yeah, their hardships and losses were good enough causes for them to develop an “evil” nature but these weren’t Kosem’s reasons nor was the welfare of the empire. She didn’t become a vicious tornado that swept all in sight because of her traumatic past/priority of the empire, she did because she became enslaved by her greed and desire for power. The difference is that Hurrem became ruthless and was the worst when she found herself with numerous enemies plotting her end against which she had to be merciless to gain victory and therefore avoid death and downfall. But Kosem became ruthless and the worst when she was at the very top, when she didn’t have rivals or enemies strong enough to bring her and her sons’ deaths. When the urge for the sole possession of the power and the throne came kicking in, so she became ruthless and wanted to eliminate everyone until she was the only one left at the very top. How are any of Kosem’s actions nor selfish, manipulative, evil or greedy?Any reasonable person can tell you that destroying and killing everyone for the selfish purpose of possessing a reign is a thousand times more evil than destroying people for the purpose of stopping their destruction of you. The difference is that Hurrem was at her worst when she found herself in a kill or be killed situation (her survival depending on Suleiman drawing breath) while Kosem was at her worst when she had (almost) everything and possessed power like no other woman before in the empire. So if anything Hurrem was the hero in her own story, survived a life or death situation and Kosem was the villain sacrificing everything for her obsession with the ownership of the sultanate.
