Us: can we have detachable cables? Koss: detachable everything!

Wild guesstimate: the headband mounting pins have a wider, collar-like section at the end that fits in a space inside the yoke, shaped appropriately to allow for a certain degree of rotation. When thrown around, the stress gets concentrated right at the base of the pin where the collar starts, causing it to snap off very cleanly. If you're going to glue them in place, I wouldn't recommend super glue. It has low shearing strength and is hard but brittle, making the joint easy to break when used in a spot like that. Get some 2-part epoxy there instead.

Koss heard us say "we want detachable!" and they provided both a detachable cable AND detachable ear cups! Kidding of course. I'm glad to hear that these sound good and can be fixed . Thanks for explaining how. Does Koss also make an over-the-ear headphone that sounds great?

I can confirm they all break that way. I had 3 of them in a row break. Gave up after that lol. They do sound absolutely outstanding, if they take those drivers and put them in functional body they will have a major winner. They must sit on you ears correctly and you do indeed need to wait a few minutes for a good seal, but its one of the best headphones soundwise in the 150 dollar range once it does.

The fact that this headphone was released in late 2014, so they had 5 years to fix the design, it's safe to say that KOSS doesn't give a shit.

They are GREAT headphones!!!! They are also have a lifetime warranty!!!! From my 1st Koss's, the Pro4AA (these were bought in 1972, I was in High School back then) to the my KPH30i, SP330s, SP540s. My collection of Koss headphones is over 40 (they all work). If they have a problem send them back, they will replace them.

I bought these about a month ago, direct from Koss for $50. To my ears, they're the best sounding cans Koss makes, hands down. I haven't had any problems with mine, but if Koss fixed any structural problems they may have and sold them for under $100, they'd have a big seller on their hands. 5:15 - Zeos, I think they have that much wire to accommodate the extending head band. Additionally, if you extend the head band all the way down, there will probably only be a tiny bit of excess wire. Hence, far less shoving. Also, "just shove it in there and keep shoving it in there..." That's what SHE said. ;-)

Love me some good Koss as well. They do break unfortunately, so I'm glad they have the lifetime warranty. The only pair that have lasted the test of time are the Pro4S which I really enjoy. Oh and they have detachable cable, and can be plugged into either ear side, plus the one not in use can then have another pair of headphones plugged in to daisy chain into. Really cool stuff. Good bass and midbass a little bright on top.

I have the kph30i and Porta pro and love both.

Snapped my kph30i headband adjuster two weeks ago, and I'm surprised that these are also prone to breaking. Koss... Sounds great but fragile

Whew, the price is a madness compared to the rest of the Koss line. The black 599's or the X2HR's are only slightly more expensive than these. The shp9500's are cheaper. I'd rather get the KPH30 at less than half the price, open back, attached cable and all.

Tried the Anker 3.5 on my 540s... you'd think it would work but there's a subtle difference in the design that won't let a standard cable fit. Was a major bummer because my 540s lost bass so I tried a wire swap. Sadly even after a retrofit (cut the shit out of the plastic to make room for a cable) the bass was gone. Ended up being Koss QC with a shitty solder on the gnd wire.

I haven't a pair of Koss headphones in ages. After seeing this, nothing has changed on their end, and nothing will change on mines.

Dude, WTAF?!? I couldn't bring myself to drop $100 on the SP330's knowing they were going to fall apart taking them out of the box, but $23 for the KPH30i's, how could I not (at the worst I would have some disposable headphones for my work computer)? I just finished up 90 minutes of listening out of the box (I had a hard time stopping), and these things are ridiculous. When I plugged them into my LG G7+ I was pleasantly surprised to see they are high enough impedance to trigger the amp into high power mode. My daily drivers (which cost over 25 times as much) aren't scared of them by any means, but the imaging, resolution, and extension are mind boggling for $23 headphones. I'm definitely a believer and will be listening to them a whole lot more this weekend. Thanks for the great recommendation.

I don't know Zeos. The kph30i are the only headphone I hate and now you're telling me these basically defective by design headphone are worth it for maybe even $100? I had never disagreed with you reviews for any product I got untill the kph30i. Loved the T2, P1, HD58X, etc. For those who want an explanation of why I hate the kph30i here you go (copied from my post on Hi-Fi guides forum) I feel a little like a crazy person when I hear people shower the KPH30I with all this praise. These are the one headphone I own that I think I actually HATE. The bass is bloated, muddy, and wooly. The highs are nowhere to be found. And I can’t even comment on the mids since I’m still trying to dig them out from under all the bloated bass. The cherry on top of this crap Sunday is the cable. I know that these are $30 headphones but I’m just baffled that Zeos and DMS both seem to love them so it’s not like Zeos just got over excited in his review. Did I somehow get a pair with two identicaly bad divers? Ok, rant over. Sorry to have disturbed you. PS the song that made me hate these was Rip and Tear by Mick Gordon from the DOOM (2016) OST. Within the first 10 seconds I was positive I did not like the kph30i.

Also I gotta say Zeos that closed back headphones are not enough for plane usage. FOR ME I cannot watch shows or listen to music without the sound of the plane intruding on everything. Luckily the Sony XM3's (fuck the long ass name) that I picked up for reasons are fantastic for on plane usage. My goodness I was able to watch movies, listen to music and sleep on the trip to Greece, with only my lower back injury bothering me.

I own them. They isolate very good. They are comfortable to wear for like 2h . The sound is nice. It is not as good as my ATH-r70x. Soundstage is less layered ( a bit flat) the sub bass in to as deep. Highs are very good- clear but not hissy. But I needed something small to travel with on a plane or train. My girlfriend likes them even more than r70X ( but she is not an audiophile). So for 40 $ it is a sweet deal. They are not best HP in the world tho

You know what, they should make a system to where the headphones will snap off, make them dethachable with a connector built into the headband. maybe use a MMCX connector with some extra support around it.

Shoe Goo will work best.I used it to hold my car fender on for 6 years. Just went up to 80 bucks

I love the Koss sound with the Koss products I've had, but their build quality is bottom of the barrel. I can't bring myself to buy stuff like that anymore.

Please review the KOSS Pro4S. The closed ones you were using with your desktop. The ones with aluminum earcups.

You need to have Koss and the House of Marley collaboration...Koss drivers in the House of Marley headphones that you reviewed with the meh sounds, but great build quality. If anyone can bring those two together, you can.

yeah...fuck 'hem! I'll wait for Koss to come with a new SP330 that is reliable. I love Koss too, and the KSC75 is my favourite one: soundstage, dynamic, good bass, balanced mids and highs(both the PortaPro and KPH30i are a little too "bassier"). So i'll pass on that one (but i'll keep an eye on them, if Koss rectify them)

they are already out of stock. It looks like there is alot of Koss headphones with the same 35 ohm drivers he should review some of those. The Pro 4s seems to be the flagship of the 35 ohm headphones.

KPHI are balanced and sound great for the money, but they lack the smoothness and fidelity of the KSC75

There is a lot reviews about this headphones and there are bad. Most about build quality most people "broke" them in first 20 min to 1 Hour. Sound isnt that great for most people and a most of them wrote , this headphones do a totally mess with the music and they are not recommended for "audiopedholies"

Better than Super Glue, use Sugru! It’s pretty expensive but super easy to use and because it’s a putty it won’t run and get everywhere. Buy these!
