It isn't fair to say that lyricism is a lost art in battling. While there has been a mainstream transition towards both higher levels of comedy and straightforward aggression in performances, there have consistently been talented wordsmiths raising the bar when it comes to dexterity with a pen occupying the scene. The next release from World Domination 2, one of the most anticipated battles of the year, features two of the finest writers in battling putting themselves to a test of bars over bullshit. Portland's Illmaculate has so many accolades to his name it's barely worth listing them all, while Ottawa's Bender is coming off a recent reign as KOTD Champion after a meteoric rise to the top. Both have something to prove, with Illmac making his solo debut on Canadian soil and Bender seeking to rebound from his first official loss in a KOTD ring. Which of these two caged beasts will show up with the sharper pen game, and emerge with the victory?

another facet that makes this battle a classic is the fact that neither MC completely choked/stumbled , forgot any significant amount of material, or lost to themselves in anyway. they both came correct. and the fact that there is a decisive, agreed victor is yet another thing i love about this battle. there's no huge controversy, or "what if's". clean, solid, respected battle. this is hip-hop entertainment at its finest.

The Hattori Hanzo line is chilling. It etched on the inside of my skull, and I was mumbling it to myself an hour later whilst doing the dishes. I wish all battles were like this. Both Bender and Illmac delivered masterful lyrics and wordplay of a pristine degree. I'd give it to Illmac though, his second and third was insane.

It'd make more sense to name a battle where he actually won. I know, that round probably sounded great in front of the mirror but in *reality* it was just one angle and one weak punchline. ***** Yeah in hindsight I probably overstated it. I've noticed in battles where the crowd isn't really on his side that he'll occasionally slip up or stutter a little bit, but that's hardly a choke. To be fair I was drunk when I posted that so I feel like I get a pass.

Young Carter I would feel wrong if I didn't mention that Illmaculate was completely wasted in that battle. Arsonal backed out of the battle day of, so Illmac decided to drink all night and watch the battles. When Illmac was almost blackout drunk, Arsonal decided he wanted to battle again. That's why it went down after Diz vs Canibus.
