This would have set up KOTOR3 so perfectly. The mystery of what happened to Revan, an evil the galaxy couldn't comprehend, what a game it could still be!
Brendan McCallion The story of Revan and the Jedi Exile could've been handled differently. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed the Revan novel, but some of it just didn't jive with me
FullTimeSlacker bastila/Canderous would be very good picks since they both would do anything for revan or exile again but it would be limited compared to the freedom of character creation in the original games
For sure, the True Sith sounded freaking epic the way Avellone described them. SWTOR is NOT KOTOR 3, and the True Sith aren't Vitiate. I hated how it ended Revan's story and how the novel and it disrespected the Exile's story in KOTOR 2, the first two games set up an epic KOTOR 3, it's such a damn shame it was never realized
rixille No, it IS due to publishers. Everyone who knows how the industry works know it to be true. They are the ones who sets the release dates, NOT developers. It is the curse of the industry because of it's purely capitalistic approach.
rixille No, it was LucasArts' fault. KotOR I did so well, and they wanted to release KotOR II by Christmas of '04, so in their mind they had plenty of incentive to rush Obsidian.
+rixille What no. What happened was that Lucasarts originally was going to delay the game until May 2005 to coincide with the release of Revenge of the Sith. Obsidian decided to use that extra time to add more content to the game, then Lucasarts changed their mind halfway through and demanded that they release Christmas 2004 like originally planned. Obsidian was kind of fucked at that point, they even asked Lucasarts for more time so they could finish the extra content and finish bug testing. Lucasarts refused, which is why the game is in the state it's in. Obsidian is infamous for getting fucked in the ass by publishers. Look what happened to them with Fallout New Vegas and that bullshit "84 Metacritic is below the 85 we wanted so you don't get paid" bullshit that Bethesda pulled on them.
I actually played this game about 20 times vanilla version but only recently played RCM. It's amazing how it's literally impossible to even grasp the whole story without the mods, since this game overall lacks any story and relies more on the characters. I mean you don't get T3-M4 recordings of Canderous becoming Mandalore, no idea of why the astronavigation chart on the Ebon Hawk was voice-locked(by Revan), no HK-50 factory, and overall a lot less interactions with your party members.
This is the scene I missed out on. Revan from the first story and then just when you would figure out what Revan was doing it left you playing a character named "the exile." Then it lead to the end of the second story where The exile would go out to the outer rims in search of Revan! SOOOOOO!!!!! Where's this grand finale?!!!
DAMMIT If only LucasArts did not rush Obsidian to release KotOR II. If not for that, then we may have indeed gotten a KotOR III. Even with the 70% of the game we got, EVERYTHING was perfectly set up for a stunning conclusion to the KotOR trilogy... but now... :/
@destoyer094 Was probably meant for kotor 3 but ended up in the mmo swtor. Mass Effect has many similarities to what kotor 3 would be. The reaper invasion from the ends of known space are similar to the true sith that would show themselves in kotor 3. The citidel being a main hub in mass effect 1 and 2 are similar to citadel station in kotor 2.
They need to released an HD remake of I and II. Adding in the cut content, maybe even adding some gameplay improvements from the second to the first. And then make a third!
You can't say that for sure. To say that is saying that you can predict the future. It's likely that they won't, but saying that it absolutely won't and that there's literally no chance of them ever making it no matter what just isn't right because anything is possible.
When the Exile was turned into a n00b and died just so Revan could be in their MMO, Hk dies like a jeb, Revan goes insane, Nihilus' power is diminished greatly in comparison to the Emperor who is just a Sidious rip-off, the Exile's wound and many of the events of KotOR 2 are either ignored completely or are made out to be side events that never mattered, the whole idea of Revan turning Sith to help the Republic is thrown out of the window and a TON of plotholes are created by the novel.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 were made years before TOR. TOR is actually the war that Canderous is talking about in this scene. This specific scene is from the cut content locked away on disk.
Heh, the Mandalorians kinda remind of the Orcs from Warcraft...Warriors, with strong conceptions of honor and battle, who were manipulated, driven to a bloody war that almost cost them their very existence by an evil and terrible power from far away...Then as they laid in ruins, scattered and weak, a new leader came to unite them and give them a purpose once again.
No, the events of TOR are canon. It's the details of the story--race and gender, choices made, romance, etc.--that are unclear. Since each character's story is basically the same regardless of choice, you can see what's canon and what's not; for example, it's canonical that a Sith Inquisitor ends up on the Dark Council, but his/her Sith name is unknown. And it's canonical that a Jedi Knight defeats an avatar of the Emperor, but whether or not he/she is made a Jedi Master or a general is unknown.
Even if they do make Kotor 3 I fear it would be ruined by online play, or co-op. Just look at Mass effect 3 that game could have been so much better if they put 100 percent into the story. Although this game had a lot of content cut the first game and this one will always be two of my favorite games out there.
this was the relation to star wars the old republic! this game had so much potential, unfortunately it was developed by the wrong studio in a short time, so it has never been finished
Eh, I think it was okay to cut this scene from the game. Kind of ruins the mood, beating Darth Nihilus and Visas coming to terms with her place in the galaxy, only for Canderous to blunder into a mine that wasn't there before.
@TheWomacker that could be, but what i mean was that revans presence on TOR was pointless, he ment nothing than just an unecesary quest that brougth nothing to the story than just to give XP
I want to play Kotor 2, but something tells me I'll end even more angry than I already am, maybe it's best to believe that "my" Revan's story ended with him either saving the galaxy or conquering it.
I've played both KotORs many years ago, but I didn't realized to this moment, that they are so... deep. This isn't just regular fight, regular war, with regular 'dark side' villians. It isn't just about that all that is dark side is evil. I used to like TOR, but compared to this, TOR is nothing. Ordinary MMO, that's it. Maybe few plots are good, but not as good as this. They just have to make another RPG in SW universe... Or at least, new starfighter simulator, such as TIE Fighter. :P
;;;SPOILER;;;.............you find his skull while doing the smuggler story line looting an Imperial treasure ship. You also find GO-TO's photoreseptors. Quest is called "heist of the Millennium".
After doing some googling to check to see if i was mistaken, all im seeing are things saying that yes there is a canon story behind the events of TOR. Thanks for the info on Battlefront though, thats not what i had been led to believe before
That doesn't matter, Lucas doesn't call the shots anymore, hopefully now Disney will give us some Great SW games, which i hope would be a new Jedi Knight or an RPG like Kotor.
No it really is floating around somewhere in the making. Do you think Disney and all of them care about the integrity of the story line if they can make a lot of money from a wildly popular video game franchise? Everybody HATED TOR. For all we know they may just tell us to forget everything TOR had and insert KOTOR 3 in its place.
@comenor91 Obsidian diid a wonderful Job. Lucasarts wanted the game out by christmass and forced them to cut out a bunch of content. After the initial release on xbox, Obsidian wanted to release a patch and release the game as it was meant to be on the PC. Lucasarts prevented them for doing so. Even to this day Lucasarts just doesnt give a shit. T_T
@darthnick427 "Interjection: suck super-heated carbon, meat bags!" "Pleased Observation: oh hello master! it's so good to see you are still alive!" "Query: is there someone you need killed, master? a sith lord perhaps? maybe a jedi? ohh, that would be most pleasurable master... and fun!" "Summary Query: is it really such a bad thing that i have survived throughout the entire era... or two...?" that's what he'd probably say.... i'm sure we'll make do with just HK-47 somehow... :P
@destoyer094 Revan found the Sith Emperor..... he is still alive in the time in the Great Galactic War, SWToR is during the cold war, 10-12 years later.... And he might be alive.. I sure hope he is....
@destoyer094 NO. Not at all. Do you remember the term "war of belief" that has been raging for "thousands of years" or Kreia's talk of the "true sith"? Might it have occurred to all you who immediately assume he's going to fight some sith army in the future, that this "true evil" is actually what hungers on the force, like Darth Nihilus did; creating a "Wound in the Force" that comes from the loss of life.
his line is strange because in KoTOR I Canderous said "the sith came to us asking us to wage war and promise us glory" or something. So he already knew that the mandalorian war didnt originate from the mandalorians themselves. Maybe this is why it was cut off?
+Revan Not exactly. Canderous in KOTOR I believed that the Sith came to the Mandalorians with an offer, and that the Mandalorians CHOSE to take them up on that offer. Here he is saying that they never had a choice, they never had an option to refuse or think it through. They were slaves to the will of the sith and never realized it, believing it was their decision all along. For a Mandalorian that must be a deathly blow to their honor.
It would be nice if they did remake this game and some how to make the ending where it could tie into the swtor since theres no chance there going 2 make a kotor 3.
Thats what is called Canonic. You can play good or bad but the Canon says Revan was male and "good". The Canon says the Exile is Meetra Surik and is female. KOTOR or not - you have to choose one path of the Story and make it Canonic to continue the Story in TOR. There will be mot KOTOR3 for alternate story.
@LatinoBadass Well Sorta, he wasn't killed... he might have done the Obi-Wan thing...... Or he did a thing called fold space... where he simply just bent light around him
@LatinoBadass I never did that flashpoint and im already capped.... He should be like some major person in any other mmo, you don't see him a ton but you occasionally have a big quest with him
Oh, I didn't know that. Still though I don't think they should have any form of multiplayer, for kotor 3, and just let Bioware finish the series as it should be. Since EA has the rights to the star wars games now a kotor 3 could happen.
this game was one of the best. It could have outdone kotor 1 if Lucasarts hadn't made Obsidian rush (idiots) If they had started a legitimate kotor 3 for CONSOLES and PC, instead of some mmo with play dough graphics, and not set it 300 years after everything the fans have come to love, they could have made SOOOOO much money. but Lucas is a fool, as Kreia would say, and so we have the not as old as the original but still pretty old Republic.
@MegaSuperFox No it's much better now because Revan is a low level boss and you get to keep his pants after you and some other random assholes kill him. HK-47 has a new voice actor and he sounds REALLY good too.
@Darthdude: tor is a awesome game it brings everything together! What happened to revan and what the next chapter was after kotor 1 and 2! They hit the nail on the head with this game, everything on it is wag better that tor and is the best mmo to date and the most sucessful, by how many people ordered it and for those people that play and lvl a character to 50 them say there is nothing to do, doesn't know about mmos, once you get to max lvl that's when the fun starts
The reason there has been no KotOR 3 is because of SWtOR. It was a horrible thing. they skipped the time the third game should have gone in AND they made it an MMORPG, inaccessible except through monthly pay. They charge more a month for it than I earn for play money in a month. a third KotOR game was what several of us were counting on. SWTOR struck down those hopes in one cruel blow.
The only problem I'm having is with loading. The game just freezes when I try to load the game. Saving works, but it stops halfway through loading? Any suggestions? It was because I installed the mod mind you. Please someone help?
