My tribute to the son of Zira, the brother of Nuka and Vitani and the mate of Kiara, Kovu, who was chosen by Scar to be the next king of the Pride Lands before his death and was trained by Zira to kill Simba and take over the Pride Lands to get revenge for Scar. Kovu fell in love with Kiara though and went against Zira, who gave him a scar after Nuka died and was exiled by Simba for a bit when he was believed to have taken part in the ambush. Kovu and Kiara later stopped the battle between the Pride Landers and Outsiders and united their prides, though Zira refused to join and was stopped from killing Simba by Kiara and fell into the river and died. Jasiri and Janja returned with Kion's Lion Guard along with Azaad, who joined them on their journey back to the Pride Lands and Cheezi and Chungu, who joined them when they got back and after a misunderstanding resulting in them fighting Vitani's Lion Guard until Kiara and Kovu showed up and stopped the fight and explained everything to them. Kovu along with many others were at Kion and Rani's wedding. Like many characters in the Lion King franchise, Kovu went through some revisions. He was originally known as Nunka and was originally going to be related to Scar and get married to Shani (the original version of Kiara). But due to Nunka and Shani being first cousins removed, Nunka was changed to Kovu and Shani was changed to Kiara and Kovu's relation to Scar was removed, evidenced by a scene in the final version of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride where Nuka says "Kovu, Kovu, Kovu. Scar wasn't even his father. He just took him in.", another scene where Kovu says, "He wasn't my father, but he was still... part of me." and in a deleted scene, Kovu said "But he wasn't my father.". Also, I wish Kovu would've interacted more with Nuka and Vitani in both The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and The Lion Guard. I like the interactions we got, but it would've been nice to see more of their relationship with each other.
