it was a good thing you did this because the top tank on the OEM radiator already started changing colour so good work to catch it

@@WRXGarage i started researching different Koyorad radiator users and their experiences due to the fact i have 07 forester cross sports S edition in which the seal between the top tank and radiator itself started leaking so i am thinking of its replacement

Thanks dude I have a grimmspeed fmic and I was just looking into getting a aftermarket radiator and it looks like I'll be getting this setup. Also I found out that the Perrin Oil cooler fits behind the Grimmspeed front mount and I'll be doing that upgrade as well.
@WRXGarage

You should also look into the verua hood scoop block off plate! It will improve airflow through the front stack.

@@WRXGarage Added to cart ty! I remember seeing this when I first got my WRX and had since forgot about it hopefully it does lower my IAT and coolant temp
@WRXGarage
@WRXGarage Год назад
It's a double-edged sword.. the fmic will lower IAT's but usually adds more heat in the engine bay and in the coolant system. If you're just street driving, you'll be fine but on track coolant temps can sky rocket if you're driving hard full throttle for a couple laps
@shakultra
@shakultra Год назад
@@WRXGarage But will the coolant temps on track will be alright with the koyo radiator?
@WRXGarage
@WRXGarage Год назад
They'll definitely be better than with the stock radiator! You'll just have to keep an eye on the temps with your AP. When you add the oil cooler, it will separate the oil/coolant crossover underneath the oil filter which will help a ton. When on track, at high temps that crossover will actually heat the coolant because oil runs hotter.

Nice! Thanks for this video. Will follow along once I do mine. Questions though; do you really need to remove the overflow tank? Also, is it safe to add water wetter (or other brand coolant additive) for a DD? Thanks
@WRXGarage
@WRXGarage 2 года назад
Yes it's totally safe! Water wetter is certified to be safe for OEM systems and to be mixed with OEM coolant.

Looking to get the same radiator for my 2010 wrx. Is the koyorad radiator single core/row or 2-row? Great vid btw, will definitely use this video to guide me through installing my radiator once i order it

@@WRXGarage yea, when I tracked a bunch of times, I was on the Killer B tmic. So i can understand your conern there. Since I have switched to a 4in ETS fmic, Koyo and Verus hood vents. I want to separate my oil and coolant, but haven't yet. The perrin oil cooler looks like the best one to me

Have you notice a oily type film when taking off the radiator cap when cool to look at it? Been reading up on some forums that this is normal w/ water wetter. Just haven’t heard from someone who mixed the Subaru coolant with Water Wetter!
@WRXGarage

Haven't noticed any kind of build up or film in my coolant yet. I've switched back and forth between pure distilled water and OEM coolant, both with water wetter added.

Any updates to how your oil temps/coolant temps have benefited from the aftermarket radiator? Here in North Texas, my wrx regularly sees 215F oil temps when I'm highway driving. I've even seen it go up to 219F on some occasions. I would like to upgrade my radiator at some point in the future.
@WRXGarage
@WRXGarage 2 года назад
Both oil and coolant temps are definitely lower driving around town, but I personally didn't notice any big difference until I drove the car hard in the canyons or on the highway! Max coolant temp I've seen around town is 210

@WRXGarage

I kept the oem thermostat. I don't think it would help much because once it gets hot it'll open up no matter what anyways. The only other thing I can think of doing is hardwiring the radiator fans so they're always on.

Did you not need to put the foam pad from the original radiator on the Koyo? The foam strips on top & btm tanks that pad it against the condenser? Not sure if the Koyo design has a different spacing to the condenser

Sucks cause the charge pipe is so big you have to cut the passenger side fan for it to fit since the radiator is bigger.

I didn't have to cut the fan, just had to push on the silicon charge piping to get the bottom of the fan shroud past it.

@@WRXGarage wow! Thats actually really great! My temp with my stock radiator usually is between 180-202 MAX Usually HWY 180-183 LOCAL 186-196 If I floor it and suddenly a RED LIGHT it will go up to 202MAX and it will go down. To 186.
