I am surprised that you are interviewing a "character" like Mr Kozlowski. I note in some articles that he was dealing well with stress while getting paid $81 million US a year. As a reader and watcher of FT I would have thought that you would have interviewed someone that would be inspirational and show the capitalist system in a good light. Is this going to be followed up with Bernie Madoff dealing with stress or maybe the guys from Enron? You are the FT you can do better that Mr Kozlowski who I am sure was innocent or terribly misunderstood.

He created the environment for his downfall-even if it was manufactured artificially based on the demonization of archetypes. He was his own worst enemy and it’s aggravating to hear him hedge and dodge the blame for his situation.

i worked there for twelve years. It was a good place for me. however, a lot of people got fired, laid off, made redundant. Not so nice.

I had the enormous misfortune of working for Tyco and their new owner Johnsons Controls. It was the worst company I ever worked for Stay far away.

Am I the only person who thinks it downright idiotic that you would interview the liar fraudster and expect him to tell the truth about his fraudulent track record? The action of interviewing this fraudster may well serve as an implicit irrational admittance from the FT that fraud is part and parcel of corporate culture - that is it completely normal and acceptable providing you aren't caught.

Was the prosecution able to prove the case against him or was he sentenced on the basis of a ' forced ' confession ?? I read about a case where an innocent European executive in the US was offered a reduced prison term after ' confessing' to his crime. The alternative would have been a long stretch thanks to a judge who was willing to oblige the prosecution .Another executive was not so lucky , he hung himself the day he was sent to jail . There is a great satisfaction in prosecuting and punishing high profile celebrities whether guilty or not because it affords both the prosecutor and the judge a chance to bask in the reflected limelight and further their own careers.Justice be damned .

Bottom line, he paid his debt to society as outlined by the Federal Court. Doesn’t matter if you dislike that, he did his time. What he chooses to do with his 2nd chance is what you should judge him by.

He had his comeuppance, but it's clear to me he still doesn't get it. Maybe it's self preservation.

OK so I am racially biased here but I don't see he did very much wrong. I don't think he should have gone to jail. Perhaps a large fine plus community work. Relative to what he was earning which he deserved having made his way from the very bottom he seems to have made a few small misjudgements like we "all do" at the peak of our carriers. I agree with him. Why didn't the board or its committee just say no at the time. That is their job isn't it? They must have signed the cheque. Percentage wise my errors were probably greater but comparable to what the average person commits in their work life but I was not a CEO working in the US after ENRON. So why don't all of us go to jail. I remember the media really beating up on this guy at the time and in retrospect 99% of it was exaggerated or sensationalised. To the people below I hope someone pulls your life apart and looks for every little retrospective error you made so you can be judged the same way. Maybe you didn't pay that fine or forgot to declare the profit on the furniture or coins you sold???? I do not see a pattern of systemic repeated wrong doing in Kozlowskis life. He actually thought the 81M was rightfully his according to his perception of his contract and he made an oversight on the paintings like we all do sometimes. Its called being not perfect.
