kayannah shields Thanks for your support. 😊 In the age of online (quarantine), I’m sure teachers are grasping for any helps and students are just are resentful for being made to watch it. (At least I hope that’s all it is. LOL.). We ALL can’t wait to get back to school for connected learning. Anyhow, thanks again. Be well!

VERY HELPFULL, I go to a Performing Arts School and we have to Direct our own scenes in class, only trouble is I suck at trying to take lead in a group and directing, this has inspired and given me ideas about my plain scene

Incredible video. You made the process so much clear at every step. I use theater as a tool to impart training on various issues to corporate and I find your inputs as extremely useful. Thanks so much for producing such educative content.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I teach High School, and really enjoy it...I believe High School actors are capable of much more than most adults/directors give them credit for, and will rise to the level of expectations we set for them. :) Glad you've found the videos helpful!

Very helpful and informative information! I think what my objective will be for a play that I will be directing is to build on the intensity of the scene by starting them characters far apart from each other and as the intensity build having them gradually come closer in a downward spiral until they are face to face on the same plane.

Thank you! I will surely take you up on that offer :-) The largely freshman Drama 1 class is the most difficult...but the Professional Drama class is superb, with incredibly capable students. As you know, what works with one group, won't always work with another...

I have some (limited) experience with theater, but no certification in theater education, and I am teaching some beginning high school drama classes right now (long story). I am finding your videos incredibly useful, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU!

The video on Blocking was very helpful for my AP Literature kids as we are starting "Twelfth Night" and I'm having them do a project that requires a deeper understanding of drama as a genre. One quick correction, though: at 2:27 of the video, you write "make crosses downsage from furniture & actors." It should be "downstage." Small error in an otherwise professional and informative video. Thanks for putting it out!

What software do you use to make these videos? I think they are brilliant and can really help streamline my classes. I have some ideas for making some for my courses.

Thanks for your comment! :) I actually was pretty low-tech back in 2009...I just made a Keynote with text & images and then used iMovie to create. Hope his helps!

Krista! I have 1 question. Is it true that in BLOCKING it is incorrect to have an actor cross in front of another??? That is actors should not walk diagonally in front of other actors. Should I have them cross from point A to point B BEHIND THE ACTORS? Thanks! God bless!
