SNSD - Into The New World (Debut) Forever 1 (Recent) Also: "Genie", and "The Boys"(Korean Ver.) are my two favorites T-ARA is my favorite 2 gen girl group. They don't get the recognition they deserve. "Bo Peep Bo Peep"(original video) - their first hit "What's Wrong?" (their most underrated hit and my personal favorite) "Roly Poly"(short video) (their biggest hit and biggest girl group song of 2011)
SNSD (girl's generation), 2NE1, WONDERGIRLS, T-ARA, KARA They were basically the top 5 biggest girl group during 2nd generation There are also many noteworthy Iconic 2nd gen groups SISTAR, 4MINUTE, F(X), MISS A, AFTERSCHOOL, BROWN EYED GIRLS, SECRET, A-PINK, GIRLSDAY, 9MUSES
2nd gen woo! Girls' Generation's debut was "Into The New World" in 2007. Their latest comeback was "Forever 1" in 2022. 15 years and still going strong! Sones (fandom) are very lucky.
There is a lot of great SNSD and Shinee interaction out there! They’re both from SM and both trained and debuted around the same time so they know each other well. In particular you’ll see a lot of Key and Minho interaction with them, especially Key since he’s in Amazing Saturday with Taeyeon. In addition to seeing Minho here, Jessica (the one in the blue hat at 2:13) is in Sherlock and Yoona (the one in the thumbnail) is in the Japanese MV for Replay. Their debut was Into the New world, and their latest comeback was Forever 1. However, Forever 1 was stylistically a bit of a throwback stylistically and they’ve done so many concepts and different sounds that it doesn’t really capture the breadth of what they’ve done. So I’d suggest throwing in a couple of others like Genie, The Boys, Lionheart, Party, or You Think as well.
Thanks for reacting to 2nd gen top girl groups. SoWonKa: So - from SO Nyeo Shi Dae (or Girls' Generation). Won - from WONder Girls Ka - from KAra I'm also slightly new to Kpop, but I preferred the 2nd generation and this is because there were a lot of friendly competition and cooperation between these groups especially for SoWonKa that debuted at the same year (2007). T-Ara debuted 2 years later (2009). ______ I'm not that confident in discussing their history, but if you become interested in 2nd gen, I would recommend watching a Korean variety show called 'Invincible Youth.' It's a show where 7 girls (or G7) experienced farming and taking care of animals in a rural community/village. Members/cast includes the original G7: Yuri and Sunny from SNSD, Hyuna (former Wonder Girl member, then became a 4 minute member, then a soloist), Hara (RIP) from Kara, Hyomin from T-Ara, Narsha from Brown Eyed Girls, Sunhwa from Secret + (Plus) 3 members were added when Yuri, Sunny and Hyuna left due to busy promotions abroad. Jooyeon of After School Victoria of F(x) Kim Sori (soloist) Minho is considered as SNSD's younger brother and he guested in Invincible Youth episode 6, while Onew also became a guest in Invincible Youth episode 10. The show was old, with only 480p resolution and might seem as "boring", but as a slightly new Kpop fan, I really enjoyed it. In fact, within 8 months I already watched the entire season 4x so I HIGHLY recommend watching at least those 2 episodes. You'll see how G7 fangirl over a male pop star and it's hilarious. 😅 Sadly😭, at this current 4th generation (and even later half of 3rd gen), close interaction between male and females idols are almost non-existent because some toxic fans are jealous about anything.
Wonder Girls is legendary!!! Before jyp sent them in the US because of his greed, no girl group can compete with them! Snsd is not even on their level.. Wonder Girls only competitors were only boy group back then like tvxq, big bang etc.. Nobody is famous all over Asia.. first K-pop song ever to enter billboard hot100 chart & first kpop song to start dance cover craze & play on radio all over Asia! Btw, the rapper name is Yubin 😊
Although they were competitors in the music charts and from different agencies, SNSD had good relationships with both Wonder Girls and Kara (I don't know about T-ARA, but that's just my ignorance, nothing implied). Wonder Girls were the first Korean group to try and break into the US market, performing on the Wendy Williams daytime chat show, but they din't have much have much success...it was a long-shot of course. KARA broke BIG in Japan ( the world's 2nd largest music market), following solo artist BoA's success there, but it was SNSD's "Gee" that opened up the rest of the world to K-Pop, and made SNSD not just the #1 Korean girl-group, but the #1 K-Pop group overall. "Gee' had 9 consecutive Music Bank wins~~ a new record for ANY K-Pop artist, that has only been beaten, some years later, by PSY (I think) ~~ and 14 music show wins overall. The Korean music industry awarded it the title of 'Song Of The Decade" and Billboard lists it as an 'Essential' K-Pop song (SNSD's 2013 I Got a Boy is also on that list) In the decade before SNSD's debut, 21 girl groups debuted, of which about 1/3rd lasted two years or less, 1/3rd made it to 5 years before disbanding, and the final third were in their 2nd or third year. In the decade AFTER SNSD's debut, over 100 girl-groups debuted, because SNSD showed that a girl group was worth investing in. SNSD have actually influenced K-Pop even beyond that, and while they've been bestowed many 'titles' such as "The Queens of K-Pop", since about 2013/2014, they've been described simply as "The Legendary SNSD".
T-ara and SNSD where really close. T-ara soyeon was originally going to be the leader for SNDs but she left the company cause her grandpa passed away .
Okay you should watch their debut Into the new world, and their latest comeback for 15 th anniversary Forever 1. Then also do Mr Mr, Genie, Catch me if you can.
