📢 To clear things up about WAYV & XG: ❗ WayV: I added them because they are under NCT which is a kpop group and for some songs they do sing them in korean (but only under certain circumstances?) , but they are mostly sung in chinese or english. (The debate to wether they are c-pop or k-pop is difficult so there isnt a set answer, but they are usually considered BOTH k-pop and c-pop.) XG: For XG, they are a global girl group, at the time of this video many people have been labeling them as a kpop group because they promote in korea, go on korean music shows, variety shows, a lot of articles label them as one, they use k-pop marketing strategies, etc. so thats what I went with, I wasnt really familiar with their discography either so It was unknown to me that they only sung in english. Sorry for the errors in this video and thank you for the support and notifying me of said errors.
Hiiii, no hate in this comment, just a little objection towards something, when you put WayV in the video you added Lucas (absolutely no hate towards him, I love this guy, he's awesome) but he resiliated his contract and quit NCT already (although I don't know exactly when you made this video, but the comments seem pretty fresh. But if you did that before his official leave, my bad, sorry) I just wanted to remember that he's not apart of the group anymore so in my opinion (I know, nobody asked for it) he shouldn't be put here (even if I understand the point and that it doesn't change anything to the subject of the video) (Sorry it was long, thank you for your time 🤍 also sorry if I made mistakes, english is not my first language)
if kpop fans want kpop to be more global and adaptable (which some dont), they gon have to understand that KPOP is a (broad) genre and industry, and so the language of the music doesn't change the genre and the industry it's being promoted in. XG and WAYV sound, look, operate, promote, etc. like a kpop group.
Pop is genre Kpop isn't. Kpop simply meant that group follow pop but with Korean Language, culture and Ethnicity. If group do not have any Korean member. Than Whether group sing in Korean or not that is not consider as kpop.
@@kep1anna Any foreign person can join group and become trainee but group without Korean member isn't a Kpop group atleastthere should be one Korean member who will become leader of group and lead the group for better future. Tell me a group where all members are foreigner and still famous in Korea as well as international. Blackswan ? Or maybe else you know ? Blackswan is from the shaddy company who knows who to do dirty business
@@snisoo7954 but they perform mostly on Chinese music scenes, promote on Chinese variety shows and film their content in Chinese. K-pop artists are forbidden to make any deal on Chinese music scene, that's why WayV even got the separate label and their unit's name doesn't include "NCT". so i still think that they should be considered a C-pop group, or at least not a K-pop unit of NCT
@@bellakgaeyou're right but their lack of Chinese promotions isn't because they're not cpop, but because of pandemic, hiatus, mismanagement from sm. They're literally going on Chinese music festivals this summer.
Blackswan has had three Korean members before, but after their debut, Hyeme left the group, and in July 2022, Youngheun and Judy left the group. That's why they have no Korean members left.
on top of that before they rebranded Black Swan, it was originally a K-pop group called Rania that debuted in 2011, but I think the videos talking about currently
Xg isn't a k pop group nor they are under any k pop company they just promote on music shows if we see so many k pop groups & idols release music in Japanese & promote in Japan but we can't say that they are from j-pop right
Imagine being a korean and seeing people from all countries choosing to be a kpop idol and doing all hard training and learning your language... Must feel proud
xg isnt a kpop group, its a global group, for wayv they are a chinese nct unit, thats why all the members are chinese (other then ten) , though yes they do count as a group since they are under a different company, most fans still see them as the chinese unit
@@drckhuang9644ten has both thai and chinese ancestry. A lot of thai people do because a bunch of chinese people immigrated to thailand 150-200 years ago and his surname indicates that his ancestors were people that made the move. He likely has a generation of two of chinese ancestors after the move but it gets likely gets mixed from there. He's likely more thai than chinese at this point. He even uses thai honorifics, not thai-chinese honorifics. But then again his family could have married only thai-chinese people but i doubt it because people use thai honorifics with him and he introduces himself as thai.
For those of y’all wondering, XG’s leader even said herself that the group (XG) is a group based in Korea, with all Japanese members, and sings in English. Simple as that
Based in 🇰🇷 Only Just to Steal Oppotunities Which Could Have Been Given to Actual But Lesser-Known K-Pop Groups Instead. @@maxidentshappen yes, I know. But they're not a kpop group. They don't have any Korean words in their music, like, at all. They sure seem like one tho, so I get why they're there.
They do promote here but they are in nowhere related to kpop. Not under a Kpop company, not a Korean group(I mean the group, not the nationality of the members), they don't sing in Korean, they just performed at a few Korean music shows.
@@maxidentshappen that’s like twice promoting in Japan sometimes. Doesn’t mean that album makes them a j-pop group. Promotion doesn’t matter! :)) their CEO said they aren’t Kpop either.
i really feel so bad on the honey popcorn. their songs are really a bop but because of their main job, everything had just vanished..... I kind of hate it.
Those who are saying wayv ain’t kpop please fyki they are under a kpop group of sm called nct and nct is a kpop group they have different units of each so each units has different concepts and songs so like that wayv is also a sub unit of Chinese and Thai members who has more promotions in china but they do have songs in Korean too !!! So please don’t keep on asking or saying they ain’t a kpop group
@@prpskiy yeah i knw but it has a different name and flag hence said it. Will surely be 23 when that guy gets a statement from sm and hiatus is over 😊 soon !
Wayv is kpop if they're on NCT agenda. But they're mostly chinese group bcs all of their songs are in mandarin. So we can call it as multinational group.😅 bcs when i came to their show, fans were cosplaying in mostly anime japanese character, while the idols singing in mandarin but speaking fully in english😂
I think Leia has left black swan now, but still no Korean members. Its hard keeping up with there line up changes at times. Black swan is a rebranded and name change from Rania. Rania had around 20 members come n go over the time they were active. Black swan has already had a 3 or so line up changes
People who are saying XG only promotes in Korea and based in Korea are wrong😅 I live in Japan and they promote here and they are under a Japanese company called Avex. They are global and sing in English but I think they are closer to Jpop since they are Japanese+under a Japanese company. (I am not a fan but wanted to clear it up since people watch them on Korean shows and assume they only promote in Korea😅)
From what I'm seeing in these comments, I feel that the majority of ppl saying that foreigners can't be kpop idols are just international fans with little or no connection to South Korea. I feel that anyone can become a kpop idol, there's just many ups and downs if your not korean or part korean.
Fr, most of the times international fans want to say things in behalf of koreans, like for example i never saw any korean talking about korean beauty standards which is something international fans talk about a lot
As Long as the Foreigners DON'T DO THINGS AS SIMILAR AS EXP Edition & Kaachi (in Terms of Skill Practising-Wise to Improve One's Own Talents) Along with XG (in Terms of How a Particular Pop 🎵🎶 Act Marketed Itself in a Respectful Manner), I am Ok with It. Pls Take Note that I Would Always Get Mad Whenever Someone Else Keeps On Insisting that These 3️⃣ Groups ARE VERY DESERVING OF THEIR REPSPECTIVE SPOTS WITHIN K-Pop Spaces Within this App for Everyone's Info.
we dont have to be korean to understand this simple fact.K-pop means pop music based on korean language, ethnicity and some culture.A group containing 2 foreign members is still kpop but no korean means no K-pop its simple. The group is either International or from other countries pop genre
I feel like kpop isn't about the language nor the nationality but the promotion/production more than anything. Something very specific to kpop is all the music shows, the types of albums they produce, the fact they have a choreo (something a lot of western artists don't, however jpop, cpop etc do). There is something about the promotion and production of kpop as, not a genre because it isn't a genre of music, but as a concept and industry that is inherently identifiable within these groups b
Kpops purpose is to introduce new genres of music to korean youth. If ur not doing this ur jus pop... so it helps if u understand the culture n speak the language. 99% of kpop songs are directed at and written for korean youth n korean youth culture. Ur welcome 😂
Huh ? I don’t think so look at wayv for example they are quite popular and successful they don’t need Korean member to be popular!! Plus this groups are mostly Japanese and Chinese based groups
@@yodickninja but they are always been a partially group tbh if you are their fan you will know that and people ignore them so they don’t really get the recognition but you are kinda right too
@@lovelyxtzence2429 wayv is a part of nct that was created after nct's official debut. they're a sub unit of nct, so in technical words, they're not a group but a sub unit. :)
@@enhaluhvzz ya and ? What do you want to say is that wayv don’t exist as a group bro they promote their songs a group wise not as sub unit even nct dream and 127 are also a group they are barely know as sub unit
OMG HONEY POPCORN IS ON HERE- I love them, their songs are so lovely and cutsie, but I love them because their songs are such a ‘pick me up’ the “cute” happy tunes make me feel happy: And for extra info; Y’all should support them. All the members were previously J-Pop idols and then the (usually center girl whose name I don’t rmemrber) managed to save up a bunch of money to create her own kpop group. She paid for all of the training and everything for the girls in the group because she had her heart set on becoming a kpop group. And I love their music. It’s really good- but despite the years she took to retrain and learn the language. Their group got tons of backlash. Why? Because most Jpop idols tend to become like ‘adult streamers’ ylu could say and other jobs of that nature after they leave their groups, as it’s easy for them to get money like that due to all the love and fans they already have- it’s somewhat normal over there (according to the video I watched about it last year) for that to happen. And Korean fans were not too happy about the groups’ ‘past’ (as all of them were ‘retired’ jpop idols) and Korean fans like canceled them. After all the hate and backlash the girls tried to focus on promoting in other countries more but it wasn’t enough. The went on hiatus then came back with new members, originally there were 3 in the first album, but when they returned, they had I think 5 or more and released another banger album. Not sure if all the orginal 3 girls returned besides the one who paid for most stuff tho as I don’t know their faces and names by heart, regardless, this comeback around 2 years later still was not well received (despite being such good songs) and they went on hiatus once again for somewhere between 3 and 5 years I think. (Very vague numbers Ik lol) the ‘main’ girl kept posting on Twitter I think for a bit but eventually stopped. Im not sure if there have been any updates since then. PLEASE SUPPORT THEM!! I hope for their return, their songs are super wholesome and have such nice Melodie’s!!
I'm proud of my blackswan, especially Léia and Gabi who went to represent our country but the group is falling and I don't want to write their story here (laziness) 😂
I wouldn't say they're failing. I mean they are not quite popular yet but they recently had an comeback and they had more views then their previous comebacks. They are also doing k stages and because of the new members especially with Sriya they're getting more popular than they were earlier.
They're doing okay right now. It's the best they've don't in 8 years. Their company sucks though so hopefully they keep doing what they're doing now and don'tess things up again
Yes but that doesn't really make them kpop. They're more like a group that used kpop promotion and system to get an international audience but isn't really considered kpop. Even their CEO has said many times that xg is a global group
blackswan has new members every week so it's really hard to catch up (yall calm the fuck down this is just a joke of course they didn't change their members that often god damn it)

it was originally: hyeme, youngheun, judy, leia and fatou. hyeme left bc of scandals. then youngheun and judy “graduated”. leia is on hiatus. they added gabi and sriya through like a competition thing. and most recently added nvee.
Wouldn't call XG a K-pop group, but making use of the Korean hypetrain is a bloody smart strategy. From the music coming from Korea (which includes them since they are officially based in Korea) I actually like their music the most recently. I'm a 90's kid so I appreciate the more hiphop/rap focus of their group. Personal opinion 😊
