I forgot to mention one ick that is a literal ick for me. It's that bad. Idols getting songs that aren't in their vocal range. It's so bad I want to rip my hair out sometimes. It sounds awful and will make the idol end up with completely destroyed vocal chords one day.

In defense of most older fans in kpop: We do not see 16 year olds as oppa or noona. We just see them as literal children. Plus when you grow up over time in kpop and become an adult you will notice fast that you no longer approach kpop as this cute crush thing, but you just start to see them as talented/fun artists, whose works or persona you can respect/vibe with. If you see that one 30 year old call a 16 year old 'hot' or oppa/noona whatever, tell them it's predatory and they should stop that shit. It's making all adults look bad. If they don't listen, report them.
A true visualhole less group is Blackpink. In most group there is always one person who stick out like a sore thumb. Some groups don’t even have one good looking member.

Literal children in cutthroat mass entertainment I get that there are a lot of talented kids out there but putting them in idol groups with adults or worse, forming child idol groups is just criminal. NCT Dream members have said it before how their social skills were underdeveloped because of training early and debuting so young. But then who are we kidding? The Dreamies years after and now adults have one of the most successful careers in kpop. NJ is at the top of their game. I'm afraid it will only get worse.

Kind of a weird ick, but I hate it when in MVs idols just stare at the camera while lip syncing the lyrics(sometimes they just stare for a few seconds without saying anything). I call them "visual shots" their purpose is just to show the visuals of the idol. But honestly with all the effects and editing and heavy makeup (and occasional blue lenses..) its not even pleasing to look at. They just look awkward or creepy I cant stand watching some MVs because of these shots especially when they take up half the MV. I love WJSN but Last Sequence is just visual shots and choppy choreo shots. It's a pretty MV but boring. Stamp on it by GOT as well. Just make a performance video if you're only gonna spend your budget on making things look aesthetic

The one who said “kpop english tracks” apparently has never heard a MONSTA X English track in their life (it’s their loss). MONSTA X have whole albums with songs in English that are as high quality as their Korean releases and there’s not any cringe in any of them. I’m not even currently a very active Monbebe but I still think their songs are on another level compared to most English kpop releases.
I always hate seeing the face foundation not matching the neck/those whitewashing edits. Also I don't think that even the few suju stans defend the group's bs anymore💀
One thing I can say about their makeup is that it's stage makeup. When I used to theater and be in plays, we had to use a special type of makeup that wouldn't melt under the stage lights because stage lights are hot and the makeup was usually packed on. We also had to use bold blush and lipstick so it would show on stage because anything light would not be seen. This is why most idols makeup emphasizes the face and doesn't match the neck.

Kpop ( or rather mnet ) survival shows are the biggest ick and nobody can convince me otherwise. The editing of the contestants and the judges, the scripted drama, making trainees go through hell in terms of living conditions, diets and etc ( esp considering they are so many minors on these god damn shows). At this point in time i refuse to engage with any survival shows ( trainee or group ) that comes out in kpop ( mostly from mnet tho lol ). Like why is sm even doing a survival show now, can these companies stop already 😭

Definitely not my top ick but one I haven't seen many others mention are diehard antishippers. I don't like shippers either but I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain on why that is, point is, anti shippers strike me as deluded too. There's a lot of "confessions" by allegedly former idols or people who worked in the industry who said it's full of queer people because that's just the type of people that kind of flamboyant industry attracts. So seeing people so hard pressed to fully deny the possibility of 2 members dating, and dismissing all their suspiciously cuddly and candid moments as fanservice starts reeking of homophobia at some point I agree shippers should stfu and stop invading idols' privacy like that but so should antishippers who go "i love their FRIENDship" on a video of 2 idols sitting on eachothers lap as one does bench presses while they lovingly gaze into eachothers eyes and the other asks why he's so handsome when he finishes his reps "you shouldn't assume their relationship" also applies to assuming they're strictly friends and couldn't possibly be in love. I wish people could just learn to appreciate a duo's wholesome and inspiring love and care for eachother without fretting and fighting over whether it's platonic or romantic
